JUNE 2008

New Deck Idea: Searing Light

I love Sacred phoenix of Nephthys. I remember that i had to have one when it first came out and they still cost $40. Ever since it came out I've wanted to make it work in a deck. I've tried it in a beastdown deck, in a monarch control deck, and in a zombie deck. Now, I finally think I've found a way to make it work to perfection. The new monarch card, Kuraz the light monarch, works wonders with sacred pheonix. For those of you who dont know, here is his effect:

When this card is normal summoned or special summoned, you can destroy up to 2 cards on the field. For each card destroyed, that cards controller draws 1 card. This card cannot attack during the turn it is normal or special summoned.

This deck uses this effect to gain draws, destroy opponent's cards, and to set up phoenix's effect. Instead of me just blabbering on, here is the deck.

Searing light

Monsters

3x Sacred phoenix

3x Kuraz

3x Hand of nephthys

2x apprentice magician

1x old vindictive magician

1x sangan

1x spell striker ;)

2x cyber dragon

1x treeborn frog

1x sprit reaper

Magic/spell

3x reasoning

1x monster reborn

1x premature burial

1x soul exchange

1x brain control

1x heavy storm

2x shrink

2x enemy controller

1x book of moon

2x creature swap

Trap

1x torrential tribute

2x needle ceiling

2x bottomless trap hole

1x mirror force

I think that this deck is pretty self-explanatory. Reasoning is used to bring out phoenix or kuraz easily. Also, this deck doesn't run any level 4 monsters, which is what most duelists guess for reasoning. It has the general monarch control stuff like exchange, reborn, premature, and brain control; creature swap is to help apprentice magician be more useful, or just turn any extra hands or treeborn frog into some serious damage. Needle ceiling will destroy all monsters on the feild; use it when your opponent brings out anything while you have out pheonix to deal huge damage the next turn. Kuraz can destroy your own phoenix for a draw plus s/t destruction on your next turn. I really think this deck bring control to a whole new level, as well as making a great card much more playable. Also, crystal seer and cruch card virus would be great additions to this deck  The only reason i din't include them is because I, and most other players, can not afford them. ;)

I hope you guys will try to use this deck. I have already tried it out on YVD, and it works spectacularly, and it is pretty cheap.

Thanks for reading. You can contact me at M_Lavigne1@yahoo.com

P.S.: buy Kuraz while he is still cheap!!!!!
