Deck Fix: Warrior-Themed Monarchs - Master of Shadows

Hello, once again, people. Master of Shadows has yet another deck fix for you, so let's get to it. The message:

Hello Master of Shadows!

I have spent a great amount of time and effort into this deck, yet I somehow am still not satisfied with it. I would like to note that this deck is only for playing against people who run Monarch decks, so that means no DaD, Gladiator Beasts, Lightsworn, Six Samurai, etc..

Here is the deck: 44 cards

Monsters: 24
3x Caius the Shadow Monarch
2x Mobius the Frost Monarch
2x Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch
Jinzo
2x Cyber Dragon
2x D.D. Assailant
D.D. Warrior Lady
2x Marauding Captain
2x Don Zaloog
2x Exiled Force
Magical Merchant
Twin-Headed Behemoth
Sangan
Treeborn Frog
Spirit Reaper

Spells: 15
2x Soul Exchange
Pot of Avarice
Smashing Ground
Nobleman of Crossout
Monster Reborn
Enemy Controller
2x Reinforcements of the Army
Heavy Storm
Premature Burial
Shrink
Mystical Space Typhoon
Brain Control
The Warrior Returning Alive

Traps: 5
Sakuretsu Armor
Torrential Tribute
Mirror Force
Bottemless Traphole
Dimensional Prison

Some cards I cut out but wasn't sure of...
2x Mystic Tomato
Mystic Swordsman lvl 2
Lightning Vortex
Creature Swap
Swords of Revealing Light
Scapegoat
Elemental Hero Wildheart
Book of Moon
2x Magic Drain

Thanks in advance!

Okay, even though I said I'd send something like this back, it's of no consequence. First, before I continue, the format I wished for the decks to be in was for everyone's benefit so everyone, not just myself, could read and follow it a bit more easily. It also makes it easier for me to count up everything since the numbers are all lined up, but oh well. It's a deck, and I will fix it. That's what I'm here for.

Anyways, back on topic, we have a Monarch deck here. No relatively new spin on it or anything special about it. Just a Monarch deck. One of the things I noticed when I looked at it was that there are too many cards that don't really fit in. There's also not enough reliable Tribute bait here. You want to beat your opponents to it, so let's get to it, shall we?

Cards I'd fire should this be my company:

- 2 D.D. Assailant

- 1 D.D. Warrior Lady

- 2 Marauding Captain

- 2 Don Zaloog

- 2 Exiled Force

- 1 Magical Merchant

- 1 Twin-Headed Behemoth

- 1 Pot of Avarice

- 1 Nobleman of Crossout

- 2 Reinforcement of the Army

- 1 Shrink

- 1 The Warrior Returning Alive

- 1 Sakuretsu Armor

I cut 18 cards. That's the biggest cut I've made to date, but it was necessary because of the larger deck, so look at it like a 14-card cut. That would make it the not-biggest cut I've done so far. Anyways, I pretty much cut all the Warrior-based cards here because, while they have great effects, they don't have much staying power, and the ones that do you don't want to Tribute so they can get rid of something. Marauding Captain eats up your hand in exchange for an easily foiled swarm. Exiled Force left because our Monarchs will be doing his job. Magical Merchant is not needed here. Pot of Avarice because we want this over quickly, and I have a better card to add in its place. Nobleman of Crossout because the Monarchs will be doing that. Shrink because, without Don Zaloog, it's really unnecessary. That, and we have a slightly better option. Sakuretsu Armor because there's a better option there, too.

Now for cards I'd hire if this were my company:

+ 3 Apprentice Magician

+ 2 Old Vindictive Magician

+ 2 Crystal Seer

+ 1 Raiza the Storm Monarch

+ 2 Allure of Darkness

+ 1 Enemy Controller

+ 1 Lightning Vortex

+ 1 Bottomless Trap Hole / Dimensional Prison

+ 2 Solemn Judgment / Dark Bribe / Divine Wrath / Pulling the Rug / Magic Drain

I added 15, bringing you to 41. That's good. Now for explanations. The Apprentice Magician engine is here to provide a source of Tribute bait. The Old Vindictives will aid in monster removal (like Exiled Force), but unlike Exiled Force, it can force your opponent to try and play around it or, if summoned by Apprentice Magician, be flipped, destroy something, and be Tributed off for some Monarch. Crystal Seer is here to help speed things up a bit as well as Allure of Darkness. Raiza is here as the second-best Monarch (Caius is the first), being able to target anything and send it back to the top of the deck. It helps in holding your opponent down. Lightning Vortex for added removal (and destroying those other Monarchs in your way). Enemy Controller as an alternative to Shrink for more versatility and game-ending power. Bottomless Trap Hole / Dimensional Prison over Sakuretsu Armor to remove the threat for good.

Now to address the Counter Traps. Solemn Judgment and Dark Bribe to negate just about anything that would threaten you. Divine Wrath for any monster effects that would stop you. Pulling the Rug specifically for the Monarchs and Gadgets. Magic Drain to either get a free negation or force a Spell discard to make that Spell a bit more costly.

That's about all I have for you and everyone else. Good luck with this. Any questions, comments, deck fixes, suggestions, etc. can be sent to darkdestructionv30@yahoo.com

Until next time....
