Trading Card Game Tips from fans

JULY 2008

Special summon Deck and Card of the Week-Crzydrvr

Hey to all fans of Pojo (love y'all man. Anyone who likes this website can't be all bad)! Back with another article! Just thought you'd like to know the current results for my card contest! (NOTE: Current means by the time I write this article, not by what time it is now.):

-MVC(Most valuable card)(best overall): 4-way tie -Cartoonists' Choice Card(best picture): 4-way tie -Iggy's Choice Card(Best Effect): 5-way tie -Gamers' Choice Card(best underrated card): 5-way tie -Best Deck Basis: 5-way tie -Otakus' Choice Card: Dark Magician Girl by 1 -Best Fusion/Ritual: Cyber-End Dragon by 1 -Best Clutch: Scapegoat by 2 -Fans' Choice Card(fan favorite): 4-way tie -Best Spell/Trap: 4-way tie To vote, just email me at evanl11@cbemail.ca with one nominee for each category, and WHY you nominated it. If it comes down to a tie, I'll be choosing the card with, in my opinion, the best LOGIC behind its nomination. No forbidden cards are allowed, and the DEADLINE is JULY 31st.

You wanna see another card from my imaginary booster? Well you sure got it. The booster itself has 110 or so cards (in my mind when I'm

finished) so it's taking quite a long time to finish. I'll try to finish as soon as I can.

FOTE-EN002: Master of the Elements; Ultra; LV 6; Fairy; LIGHT; ATK:

2300 DEF: 1700; Effect: This card cannot be Special Summoned. While this card remains face-up on the field, this card?s name is treated as ?Element Master? and your opponent cannot select a monster on your side of the field as an attack target except this card. This card is also treated as EARTH, FIRE, WATER, and WIND. All monsters with ?Element Master? in its card name has its ATK increased by 300 points.

If you control an "Element Master" monster, this card is unaffected by the effects of spell or trap cards. If this card is designated as an attack target, it is automatically changed to attack position.

This is part of a new group of cards I've created, which are centered on each element. This card is like the Grandmaster of the Six Samurai, only better. It's got 2600 ATK(with the boost) and is changed to attack mode if chosen as an attack target, so changing its position won't help. It's got built in spell and trap protection so long as another "Element Master" is on your side of the field. If it's face-up on the field, no other monster can be attacked on your side of the field, thereby protecting what protects the card from spells/traps.

Next order of business, our card of the week! It's the cover card of the Light of Destruction booster, Judgement Dragon!:

Judgement Dragon

LV 8/LIGHT/Dragon

ATK:3000 DEF:2600

Effect: This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by having 4 or more "Lightsworn" monsters in your graveyard. You can pay 1000 Life Points to destroy all other cards on the field. During each of your End Phases, send the top 4 cards of your deck to the graveyard. 3.9/5 stars advanced, 1.9 stars/5 traditional

Let's take this step by step, shall we? For it's stats, they are the norm for Level 8s, nothing too spectacular within its own level and type. It's Light, but has high ATK if you compare it that way. It's first effect says it can only be summoned if you have 4 Lightsworns in the grave. That hurts its playability a little, but balances out its power on its next effect. By paying just 1000 lifepoints, you can destroy all other cards on the field. That's incredible, because its a TRIGGER effect. That means you can activate it anytime you choose to lose 1000 lifepoints. So when it's your turn, you activate the effect to blow up your opponent's defenses, then summon some level 4 monster and hit him directly for at least 4000 lifepoints! Or use it on defense to make sure your opponent wastes their turn and leave them wide open for next turn! Its third effect may seem like a downfall at first, but it might not be. Use it in a Lightsworn/Special Summon deck like the one next up, and it can be a very strong combo! Not as strong in traditional, we've already got CED-EOTE.

I've got 1 deck for you today. The aforementioned Lightsworn/Special Summon deck. This is actually the first deck I've made that uses popular and the most recent cards, go figure:

Lightsworn Chaos x40

Monsters x19

x2 The Creator

x2 Judgement Dragon

x2 Wulf, Lightsworn Beast

x2 Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner

x1 Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress

x1 Gragonith, Lightsworn Dragon

x1 Ryjo, Lightsworn Hunter

x2 The Creator Incarnate

x1 Kaiser Sea Horse

x1 Ultimate Tyranno

x1 Gilford the Lightning

x2 Guardian Angel Joan

x1 Spear Cretin

Spells x14

x1 Mausoleum of the Emperor

x3 Trade-In

x1 Monster Reborn

x1 Premature Burial

x3 Spell Absorption

x1 Heavy Storm

x2 Lightning Vortex

x1 Mystic Wok

x1 Field Barrier

Traps x8

x1 Mirror Force

x2 Dust Tornado

x2 Draining Shield

x2 Negate Attack

x1 Jar of Greed

The whole point of this deck is to get out the big guns faster. The Creator special summons monsters from the grave, and Judgement Dragon sends monsters TO the grave. Gilford, Tyranno, and Joan add some power to the deck, while Joan gains lifepoints for Mausoleum of the Emperor, Gilford has its destruction effect, and Tyranno is just pure beatdown.

With all the special summoning involved, there's bound to be a lot of monsters on the field, so Gilford can activate its effect. Field Barrier protects Mausoleum of the emperor and Trade-In allows high level monsters to be discarded to draw cards. It's a fast deck that figures to be ready to win in 10 turns or less. I'd recommend siding a Pot of Avarice just in case, and another Gilford for good measure.

Well, that's all for now! To enter the card contest, see above. Other than that, I WILL be accepting decks that in the user's opinion needs inprovement, but doesn't know what to add. I'm still deciding on whether or not I'll be putting these in articles. BE WARNED, this is the first time I've ever done deck fixes (shudder) so they might not be perfect, and/or may require testing/fixing from other writers. To get to me, just email me at evanl11@cbemail.ca if you need anything at all. but for now, See ya later gators!
