JULY 2008

NORMAL/RITUAL DECK BUILD, CARD OF THE WEEK-Crzydrvr

Hey guys! Back with what seems to be my umpteenth article with Pojo (although it's not really an article, it's more of a tip/rant since I'm in the junior section of the website). Sorry about the last article, I sent it in 2 weeks ago but I don't think it got to the website, so I resent it and forgot to update it. That brings us to our first topic. I just wanted to say that I appreciate the fact that Pojo accepts my articles. This won't be my last article, but I just feel that the editors deserve a lot of credit for even making this section of the website a possibility, having to put up with those people who send 6 different articles on deck fixes a day (to all those that this sentence describes, wouldn't it be easier to just send it all in 1 article?). So let's give a big hand to the Pojo.com editors! Secondly, I want to thank the people that bother to read my articles in the first place. Thanks to John, Russell, Spencer and DJGamer (who all, coincidentally, sent their opinions on my contest.

Vote for your favorites today. This message brought to you by Pojo.com). And lastly, let's thank the man who created this wonderful website that has become the center of our lives, Big Bill Pojo!

Pojo note: Editor = Bill   :-P

Woohoo! Okay, enough of the mushy stuff let's get to our first item of the day, which would be, for those waiting to hear the results, our latest leaders for our Card Awards 2008!:

-MVP Award (best overall): Tie between Mirror Force, Dark Armed Dragon, and Arcana Force EX: The Dark Ruler -Best Picture: Tie between Cyber Dragon, Mataza the Zapper, and Solemn Wishes -Bill Pojo Memorial Award (best effect): Tie between Dark Magician of Chaos, Penguin Soldier, Bottomless Trap Hole, and Arcana Force XXI:

The World

-Gamers' Choice Award (most underrated): Tie between Thestalos the Fire Monarch, Don Zaloog, Sky Scourge Norceleas, and Magical Merchant -Yugioh 2008 Award (best deck basis): Tie between Necrovalley, Shadow Ghoul, Banisher of the Radiance, and Macro Cosmos -Otakus' Choice Award (best card from the anime): Tie between Dark Magician Girl, Marshmallon, Time Wizard, Destiny Hero Plasma, and Blue Eyes White Dragon -Best Fusion/Ritual: Cyber End Dragon -Best Clutch (best when you're in a tight situation): Scapegoat -Fan's Choice Award (fan favorite): Tie between DD Warrior Lady, Cyber Tutu, and Grave Lure -Best Spell/Trap: Tie between Monster Reborn and Macro Cosmos

Don't forget to vote for your favorite today! To vote, email me with the title Card Awards 2008 at evanl11@cbemail.ca. If you vote, you must follow these guidelines:

-list complies with the forbidden/limited lists (no forbidden cards allowed).

-ONE card of your choice for each award, and why you chose them to win.

-you are allowed to vote for a specific card in more than one category/award.

I sure hope everyone votes for their favorites. Anyway, next we have our CARD OF THE WEEK, which will be an old classic:

Blue Eyes White Dragon/Dragon/LIGHT

Level 8/ULTRA RARE/LOB-EN001

Description: This legendary dragon is a powerful engine of destruction. Virtually invincible, very few have faced this awesome

creature and lived to tell the tale.                  1.5 stars/5.

Wow. Talk about ancient. When was the last time anyone ever even used this card? Reminds me of 10000 B.C. the way this card is being unused.

Don't get me wrong, in the right combo (and there's very few that have actually been created that people use on a consistant basis) it's a 3000 ATK beefcake. It's just WAY too easy to get rid of. So until people find some protection for it, I don't think NORMAL monsters will be quite ready to be able to be played yet, with the exception of Frostosaurus and Gene-Warped Warwolf.

That brings us to our next item. I just LOVE underused decks. People using deck types that are used by champions are gullible. Wake up people, just because he can do it doesn't mean you can too. I like underused decks cuz nobody expects to duel one, making it very difficult to counter the deck. They're just not ready to face the big time. So for all you Dark Magician, BEWD, and Frostosaurus lovers, here's a (maybe) okay deck centered around not just Normals, but Rituals too:

Ritual Crushers x41

Monsters x19

x3 Gene-Warped Warwolf

x2 Frostosaurus

x3 Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands

x3 Sonic Bird

x1 Blue Eyes White Dragon

x2 Gemini Elf/Sabersaurus/any 1900 beefstick

x1 Mask of Darkness

x2 Mystic Tomato

x3 Demise King of Armageddon

Spells x15

x3 Ancient Rules

x3 End of the World

x1 Advanced Ritual Art

x3 Birthright

x1 Premature Burial

x1 Monster Reborn

x1 Smashing Ground

x1 Pot of Avarice

x1 Heavy Storm

Traps x7

x2 Dust Tornado

x1 Mirror Force

x1 Ultimate Offering

x1 Royal Decree

x1 Magic Cylinder

x1 Magic Jammer

This deck makes use of its many high level monsters. Use Advanced Ritual Art/Magic Jammer to get your Frostosaurus/Blue Eyes in the graveyard, then use one of the many monster revivals to bring them back to the field. The Advanced Ritual Art gets out your Demise and sends either Blue Eyes or Frostosaurus into the grave, letting Birthright do the rest. Big damage per turn is what this deck does.

The traps are all standard, with Ultimate Offering helping to get out the monsters quicker if needed. Most decks have only effect monsters, which generally don't have much in the way of stats (Ancient Gear Engineer, if it weren't for your crappy stats you'd have been broken), making it easy to deal a whole crap of damage in a single turn, especially with Demise. I'd say it's a pretty average deck though. 2.5 stars outta 5 in terms of strength, so it'd be more of a fun deck than a competitive one. You're welcome to try winning with it though I don't think this deck would be the greatest.

That's all for now! If you haven't voted for your favorite cards in my card contest, see above to find out how to. If you need me for anything, email me at evanl11@cbemail.ca. Look out for my custom booster set that I'm working on as we speak! See ya later!
