January 2008
Deck Fix: Cyber Dragon - Daniel

Hello everyone! My name is Daniel [for those of you that don’t know me], and I’m back with another deck fix. However, before I get started, I want to let everyone know about the gadget deck I’ve reviewed last time.

Someone e-mail me telling me I forgot to include Chimeratch Overdragon in the deck. I know I forgot to include it, but I feel that it’s too much of a loss for the deck. In other words, by the time you get it onto the field, your opponent might use something like Torrential Tribute to destroy it, and you would have lost the monster as well as a high number of machines for the fusion summon of the card. I do feel that the deck can still do well without it, but if any of you feel the gadget deck should have it, feel free to include it in the deck. Plus, I would like to say thank you for the person who sent me the e-mail. Thanks!

Now I’m done talking about gadget decks for now. So I’ll be moving on to the deck fix for this article. The deck fix for this article is a Cyber Dragon deck sent in by Jason Manuel like I’ve told you last time. Thanks for sending in your deck, Jason. As I said, here is the e-mail that he sent me:

Hey, what’s up?

My name is Jason Manuel, and I’ve been playing for about 2 years. I’ve just started going to tournaments about 6 months ago. I do OK, but it seems anything I try to run gets swept aside by demise or monarchs. So I have been experimenting between beatdown and field control to put a stop to those decks. Anyway, here is my deck that I’ve been working on. Any advice you give me I’d greatly appreciated. You can get back to me at this address if you get a chance to take a look at it.

Now this deck is just a beatdown deck since it tries to get Cyber Twin or End Dragon onto the field quickly. Gatling Dragon can clear the field for you so that you can get a direct attack for 5200 if you used Powerbond on it. Also, any direct attacks from any of the cyber fusions with powerbond are OTKs. Finally, Reckless Greed and Jar of Greed help you set up the combo faster.

Power of Fusions – Main Deck: 49 cards

Monsters: 24

3 Cyber Dragon

2 Exiled Force

1 D.D. Warrior Lady

1 Spirit Reaper

1 Barrel Dragon

2 Blowback Dragon

2 Gyriod

2 Steamroid

2 Drillroid

3 Blade Knight

2 The Light – Hex-Sealed Fusion

1 The Dark – Hex-Sealed Fusion

2 Submarineroid

Spells: 10

1 Mystical Space Typhoon

1 Heavy Storm

1 Premature Burial

3 Powerbond

2 Polymerization

1 Limiter Removal

1 Future Fusion

Traps: 15

1 Magic Cylinder

3 Jar of Greed

2 Reckless Greed

3 Trap Hole

1 Bottomless Trap Hole

3 Sakrestsu Armor

1 Call of the Haunted

Fusion Deck: 6 cards

2 Cyber End Dragon

2 Cyber Twin Dragon

1 Gatling Dragon

1 Super Vehicleroid Jumbo Drill

So what do you think about the deck? Please e-mail me back when you get the chance.

Now everyone, for this deck fix, I’ll be fixing the deck under these 5 steps:

1. Lower the card count to 40 cards or lower.

2. Remove cards form the deck that are useless, or are related to the theme of the deck, but are useless.

3. Add in cards to the deck that will help it, or are related to the theme of the deck.

4. Summarize what I’ve done to the deck.

5. Display the final deck list.

First, I’ll begin with step #1.

1. Lower the card count to 40 cards or lower.

To do this step, I’ll be removing cards from the deck that don’t make sense, or are related to the theme of the deck, but are useless.

First I’ll be looking at the monsters in this deck. Since this deck will be built around Chimeratech Overdragon [which I’ll be adding to the deck later], the following monsters have to be removed from the deck to make room. Here is the list:

1. 3 Blade Knight

2. Every roid monster expect Drillroid

3. 1 Blowback Dragon

4. 1 The Light – Hex-sealed Fusion

5. 1 Spirit Reaper

One of each Hex-sealed fusion is good enough in the deck, Spirit Reaper can be destroyed easily, and Blade Knight is gone since you will rarely have no cards in your hand. Also, the “roid” monsters don’t fit the theme of the deck, but Drillroid stays in it thanks to its good effect, and 1 copy of Blowback Dragon is enough in this deck.

Next are the spell cards in the deck. I’m only removing 2 Power Bonds from the deck because of its bad effect of damaging your life points. Sure, it can double a fusion machine monster’s ATK when it’s summoned to the field, but the increase in ATK comes out of your life points during the end of the turn it was summoned. One copy is good enough in the deck, anyway.

Next are the traps. The trap lineup is good, but the Trap Holes and Jar of Greed have to go. Bottomless Trap Hole is better than Trap Hole, and Jar of Greed doesn’t increase your hand size. Plus, it’s a waste of space in the deck. Also, Reckless Greed doesn’t help in the deck as well. So they are gone.

Finally is the fusion deck. I’m only removing Jumbo Drill because of its fusion material monsters not in the deck anymore.

I’m now done with step #1. I’m moving on to step #2.

2. Remove cards from the deck that are useless, or are related to the theme of the deck, but are useless.

Since I’ve already remove the cards that didn’t make sense in step #1, I’m skipping this skip. Let’s go to step #3.

3. Add in cards to the deck that will help it, or are related to the theme of the deck.

In this step, I will be adding in cards that will help the deck out.

First up are the monster cards. I am adding in 1 copy each of Breaker the Magical Warrior for spell/trap removal, Magician of Faith to reuse fallen spell cards, and Sangan to search out any of the weak monsters from the deck. Also, I’ll add Marshmallon to stop attacks for a while when you do not have your combo ready, Card Trooper to dump machines into your graveyard from your deck for Overdragon, and Morphing Jar to dump more machines to your graveyard from your hand. Finally, I’ll add a Necroface for returning your removed from play monsters back into your deck.

Now I’ll be adding in more machines to this deck for Overdragon to feed on. I will be adding in 2 copies of Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive to replace Jar of Greed, and Cyber Phoenix for protection. I’ll also add 2 Proto Cyber Dragon to make it easier to get Overdragon out, and a copy of Jinzo for negating traps.

Next are the spells. I’m adding in a copy of Overload Fusion to summon Overdragon with monsters from the graveyard, Pot of Avarice for reusing fallen monster, and Swords of Revealing Light to stop attacks. Finally, 2 copies of Lighting Vortex and a copy each of Nobleman of Crossout and Fusion Sage will finish up the spell lineup.

Next are the traps. I’ll add in Mirror Force to stop more attacks, Return from the Different Dimension for another way of bring back monsters removed from play, and another copy of Bottomless Trap Hole to finish up the trap lineup. Finally, a Torrential Tribute for more monster removal.

Last is the fusion deck. I’m adding in 2 Chimeratech Overdragon and 1 Gatling Dragon to finish fixing the deck.

Now that I’m done adding in cards into the deck, I’ll move on to step #4.

4. Summarize what I’ve done to the deck.

This step is where I tell all of you what changes I’ve done to the deck. As I said, here are all the changes I’ve made to the deck:

-3 Blade Knight

-2 Sumarineroid

-2 Gyroid

-2 Steamroid

-1 Blowback Dragon

-1 The Light – Hex-sealed Fusion

-1 Spirit Reaper

Let’s move on to step #5 now.

5. Display the final decklist.

This step talks about the new decklist. As I said, here is the final decklist:

This finishes the deck fix for this article, everyone. Now, I have a few things to say before I leave again.

First up is that I know there are 50 cards in the main deck, but I am not used to fixing decks that have fusion decks to go with it. This is the best I can do to fix this deck. Remember, I’m doing my best to fix everyone’s decks these days. Plus, I really don’t have the time to look at this deck to see what’s good or bad.

Next, I will tell all of you that I will be doing card combos next month. During the month, however, I will still be accepting deck fixes, but I will not be fixing them until March. I would like the person would sent me the deck to a least try it out for a few weeks before the next ban list. If I fix a deck 3 weeks before the next ban list, that person wouldn’t have a lot of time to play with the deck. This is why I’ll be doing card combos next month. I’ll have the card combo rules for all of you next month [or in March, depending on when I want to do them].

Finally, I will tell all of you that I’m planning to explain this deck to all of you after the new rules for the deck fixes are posted. I will have the rules for everyone next time. When they are posted, please follow those rules instead of the rules that were posted on Jan. 1, 2008. Okay?

That’s everyone I wanted to talk about. Next time, I will be talking about the new rules for my deck fixes. Remember, If you want your deck fixed by me, or you want to talk to me about anything related to my deck fixes or the Yu-gi-oh TCG, please contact me at Kids6@Worldnet.att.net. If it’s a deck fix, please follow the rules for my deck fixes that were posted on Jan. 1, 2008 until I change them.

That’s it for this article, everyone. I hope all of you enjoyed it. Goodbye and see you next time.

- Daniel
