"Volcanic Empire" Deck - AJ

I'm back, duelists! With some modifications based off of the upcoming Limited List, I will be constructing a deck centered around "Volcanic Queen", a common card from Light of Destruction that can be incredible in the right deck.

The premise is similar to the classic Lava Golem deck. You put Volcanic Queen on your opponent's field and wait for it to burn your opponent's Life Points. But, if you don't have the right protection, the Queen will pinch back, which is why I will also include Blaze Accelerator as an answer to your opponent's extra monsters that they might tribute for the Queen's effect, burning you as well.

Volcanic Empire

Monsters: 19
3x Volcanic Queen
3x Volcanic Rocket
3x Volcanic Shell
3x Volcanic Scattershot
3x Royal Firestorm Guards
2x Tenkabito Shien
2x Solar Flare Dragon

Spells: 11
2x Blaze Accelerator
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Giant Trunade
2x Level Limit - Area B
2x Messenger of Peace
3x Wave-Motion Cannon

Traps: 10
1x Mirror Force
1x Torrential Tribute
3x Judgment of Anubis
3x Divine Wrath
2x Raigeki Break

Yes, that is a large number of monsters for a stall deck, but each one of them is important. Obviously, you'll need Volcanic Queen to punish your opponent for not having any other monsters to tribute. Volcanic Rocket will search out your Blaze Accelerator cards for quick access, as well as scaring off those 1800 beatsticks you see a lot these days. Volcanic Shell is quick and easy monster destruction with Blaze Accelerator, lowering your opponent's options for them to sacrifice at the End Phase. Volcanic Scattershot might not be ideal in some cases, since you usually don't want to destroy the Queen, but if you have a plan ready to make the big finish without the Queen (such as Wave-Motion Cannon), then use it to blast their monsters to smithereens. Royal Firestorm Guards is an awesome Pot of Avarice substitute that can defend your Life Points as well. When you find that you're not drawing much BA fuel, Royal Firestorm Guards is there for you. Tenkabito Shien is an odd choice, considering he can't slip past your stall spells, but when you need to bust out the aggro on your opponent, Tenkabito Shien gets through that pesky Mirror Force that you might be afraid of. Lastly, Solar Flare Dragons provide a lock that will burn your opponent just as fast as Volcanic Queen, when you want to kill them faster, or just because your opponent got rid of your stall spells/the Queen.

The Spells are what you'd find in most stall/burn decks, with Blaze Accelerator as a cornerstone. I only included two because Volcanic Rocket can fetch it from the deck or the Graveyard easily. Giant Trunade and Mystical Space Typhoon will get rid of your opponent's Spells/Traps that might scare you (for instance, a Torrential Tribute ready to set off when you summon Royal Firestorm Guards), without hindering your stall spells. Wave-Motion Cannons are sleeper cards that I would love to use in most decks if I actually had them, but for this proxied deck, they are essential. Burn my opponent's LP just for sitting around doing nothing? Sign me up!

The Traps are very helpful here. Of course, there's the dynamic duo, along with Judgment of Anubis and Divine Wrath to stop S/T destruction or a Kuraz that could get rid of your Queen and net your opponent an extra card on-hand. Raigeki Break makes use of extra Queens, etc. that you might not need, lowering your opponent's fuel source for the Queen.

And that's about it. Slightly cheap (with the exception of Judgment of Anubis, RFG, and Volcanic Rocket), and perfect for your next local tournament. Get out there, kick some behind, and show the world the power of Volcanic Queen! As always, here's my spam-protected e-mail address, in case you have any comments:
[ajDOTfortedsDOTdigiovanniATgmailDOTcom] I think you can tell what you need to replace with what.
