Deck Fix: Dark World

When the Dark World theme was just created, I thought to myself, "Wow, this deck is gonna be awesome when it sees tournament play!" But, to my dismay, it never took home a SJC title, causing me to think of some changes I could make to the theme to make it better. The theme is extremely stable, with excellent support cards. The thing is, after Elemental Energy, the sets ceased to make stable Dark World support with the exception of Dark World Dealings.

So, I chose to look into this deck. Here's the list that was posted up.

Here is my very first Dark Deck. I was going thru some old papers and I found my deck list. My deck has evolved from this little deck to the one I am running now.
Hope you enjoy it!

Monsters:
Broww, huntsman of dark world 2
Beiige, vanguard of dark world 3
Brron, mad king of dark world 2
Zure, knight of dark world 1
Sillva, warlord of dark world 2
Breaker the magical warrior 1
Double coston 2
Kycoo the ghost destroyer 2
Regenerating mummy 1
Skilled dark magician 3
Dark Ruler Ha Des 2
The End Of Anubis 2
Invader of Darkness 2
Spells:
Axe of despair 2
Heavy Storm 1
Mystic plasma zone
Card Destruction 1
Tribute to the doomed 1
Graceful Charity 1 (banned)
Premature Burial 1
Mystical Space Typhoon 1
Traps:
Sakuretsu Armor 2
Interdimentional matter transporter 2
Raigeki break 1
Magic jammer 1
Magic cylinder 1
Dust Tornado 1
Phoenix Wing Wind Blast 1
Call of the haunted 1

As you can see, I need to fix up the deck list like I always do, since it lets me work with the deck easier.

Darkhafling's First Deck – 44 Cards

2 Broww, Huntsman of Dark World
2 Beiige, Vanguard of Dark World
3 Brron, Mad King of Dark World
1 Zure, Knight of Dark World
2 Sillva, Warlord of Dark World
1 Breaker the Magical Warrior
2 Double Coston
2 Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer
1 Regenerating Mummy
3 Skilled Dark Magician
2 Dark Ruler Ha Des
2 The End of Anubis
2 Invader of Darkness

2 Axe of Despair
1 Heavy Storm
1 Mystic Plasma Zone
1 Card Destruction
1 Tribute to the Doomed
1 Graceful Charity
1 Premature Burial
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
2 Sakuretsu Armor
2 Interdimensional Matter Transporter
1 Raigeki Break
1 Magic Jammer
1 Magic Cylinder
1 Dust Tornado
1 Phoenix Wind Blast
1 Call of the Haunted

First off, I'd like to say that there are a lot of unrelated cards in here, and I'm going to take them out.

- 2 Double Coston
- 2 Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer
- 1 Regenerating Mummy
- 3 Skilled Dark Magician
- 2 The End of Anubis
- 2 Invader of Darkness
- 1 Graceful Charity (because of its limitation)

Now, with already 9 slots to add some cards in, I still want more room. I need to remove the cards that aren't needed. First, I'll cover the monsters. Beiige, Vanguard of Dark World's effect of being able to special summon when he's discarded from your hand will help us with the tribute monsters we will be including in this deck. I'll be including more copies of him.

Broww, Huntsman of Dark World is an excellent form of draw power in this theme, so I'll be including 3. Next up is Zure, Knight of Dark World. It really doesn't deserve inclusion in this deck, and is much, much worse than Brron. So, I'll be removing this. Sillva deserves inclusion in this deck simply because of its excellent effect when it's discarded by an opponent's card effect AND for its exceptional attack strength. I'll be adding one of these. Breaker the Magical Warrior is a staple in most decks, and this one is no exception.

- 1 Zure, Knight of Dark World
The last portion of the monsters may have left some of you puzzled, asking me "Why haven't you removed Dark Ruler Ha Des with the cards unrelated to the theme?" Well, just because it can be used easily in this deck, and will be excellent tech in the format to come. With all the special summoning I have included in this deck, Ha Des will be easy to get out, and its effect will come in useful when playing against Apprentice Engine and most other decks. It also can trample over a Monarch.

Now, onto the cards I'll be removing in the spells. Axe of Despair is really not needed in the future format, since monarchs will most likely be chosen as the cookie cutter deck. They really make equip cards useless in the next format, so I think that Axe of Despair will really see little play if any at all. Mystic Plasma Zone is really not that great of a support card, but as in the future format being slower than the previous formats, we'll need some support for the stronger monsters that might hit the field like Monarchs. So, we'll add one more. Tribute to the Doomed is a cost effect, so it won't help in this deck.

- 2 Axe of Despair
- 1 Tribute to the Doomed

Next are the cards in the traps section that I'll be taking out. The cards that aren't related to the theme I'll be removing first. Also, I'll be taking out cards that have discarding as a cost.

- 2 Interdimensional Matter Transporter
- 1 Dust Tornado
- 1 Phoenix Wind Blast
- 1 Magic Jammer
- 1 Magic Cylinder
- 1 Raigeki Break

We'll be keeping the rest of the traps.

Phew, that took a while. Let's move onto the additions. We need some better tech in this Dark World Deck, including some staples such as Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World and Kakkhi, Guerilla of Dark World.

+ 3 Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World
+ 2 Kakkhi, Guerilla of Dark World
+ 3 Dark World Dealings
+ 3 Dark World Lightning
+ 1 Morphing Jar
+ 1 Treeborn Frog
+ 2 Dark Deal
+ 2 The Cheerful Coffin
+ 2 Deck Devastation Virus

Also, I'll be adding some main staples like Mirror Force and Torrential Tribute.

+ 1 Mirror Force
+ 1 Sakuretsu Armor
+ 1 Torrential Tribute

So, with that done, let's take a look at the final decklist.

DarkHafling's Fixed First Deck – 40 Cards

2 Brron, Mad King of Dark World
3 Beiige, Vanguard of Dark World
3 Sillva, Warlord of Dark World
1 Breaker the Magical Warrior
2 Dark Ruler Ha Des
1 Morphing Jar
1 Treeborn Frog
3 Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World
2 Kakkhi, Guerilla of Dark World

1 Heavy Storm
1 Card Destruction
1 Premature Burial
3 Dark World Dealings
3 Dark World Lightning
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
2 The Cheerful Coffin

3 Sakuretsu Armor
1 Call of the Haunted
1 Mirror Force
2 Deck Devastation Virus
1 Torrential Tribute
2 Dark Deal

Hope It helps!Have a deck that needs fixing? Just send the list to lightningsaphira94@gmail.com and a couple sentences on what you want me to do with it, and I'll feature it on this site!

Have Fun and Play Fair!

Ed
