Trading Card Game Tips from fans

February 2006

An original fire deck- Mike is the man

A few days ago I was explaining to my noobish friend about the synergy between manticore of darkness and great phoenix of nephthys,(I play with a phoenix beastdown deck). I told him that if manticore is sent to the graveyard in just about any way, I could send a beast, beast-warrior, or winged-best from my hand or field to the graveyard to bring manticore back at the end of the turn. If I had phoenix on the field (which can be made less laborious by the use of hand of nephthys) I could sacrifice it to bring back the manctiocre, and the next turn my phoenix’s effect would activate and it would come back to the field.

Once I returned to my house that night I realized that phoenix and manticore are both applicable to spiritual fire art-kurenia.

Spiritual fire art-kurenia

Tribute 1 FIRE monster on your side of the field. Inflict damage to your opponent's Life Points equal to the original ATK of the Tributed monster.

Using spiritual fire art, you can do some damage to your opponents and activate phoenix’s effect, or you could activate fire art and use 2 manticores(its happened to me before)and a card of safe return for lots of cards in hand.

I know that some of the above things seem a bit farfetched, but you would be surprised how fast phoenix gets out, not mention that you could discard manticore for darkworld lightning, card destruction, etc. and get him on the field simply by discarding a beast, bw, or wb.

I’ve never tried a deck like this before so I’m just throwing out ideas, but a deck list might go something like this.

Sac monsters: 3

2x manticore of darkness

phoenix of nephthys

nonsac monsters: 14

hand of nephthys

apprentice magician

2x enraged battle ox (3 if you want to)

3x berserk gorilla

3x nimble momonga

magician of faith

sangan

treeborn frog

spirit reaper

            spells: 15

monster reincarnation

premature burial

2x giant trunade

mystical space typhoon

book of moon

creature swap

scapegoats

swords of revealing light

nobleman of crossout

2x smashing ground

pot of avarice

card destruction

brain control/ enemy controller

2x card of safe return

            traps: 8

3x spiritual fire art-kurenia

ring of destruction

mirror force

call of the haunted

torrential tribute

wabakou

alright, that’s 41 cards

I don’t expect this deck to become wildly popular, but it is an original deck idea that should work effectively.

Thank you for reading,

Michael Lavigne
