Subject: Light/warrior forgotten cards-Vlad

Hey I'm back with more underused cards. this time ill be looking at some Light and Warrior monsters that have been neglected a lot. Warriors are a powerful theme with great cards, but i think that some great warrior cards are being overlooked. Ill be looking back in this article at some warrior classics from FET, LOD, and IOC. First up is Horus level 6's warrior cousin, Silent Swordsman Lv. 5.

Silent Swordsman Lv. 5

Light

5 Stars

]Warrior/Effect]

Atk/2300Def/1000

This card is unaffected by your opponents Spell cards. If this card successfully attacks your opponent's life points directly, during your next standby phase, send this face-up card from the field to the graveyard to Special Summon one Silent Swordsman Lv.7 from your hand or deck.

First off, lets look at his stats. 2300 atk and 5-stars is OK(could be better), but he can morph into Dark Balter, giving him an edge over the more popular Horus lv. 6. He's a light/warrior giving him some advantages such as being chaos food(good) and having lots of warrior support (command knight, Warrior Returning Alive, fusion sword murasame blade, etc.). 1000 def isn't great, making him owned by tsukoyomi and book but it does make him witch able in traditional format (for those of you that play it). His effect allows him to be unaffected by an opponents spells, but he is affected by yours. This is good and bad, letting him be equipped or morphed, but on the downside, if you play dark hole or LLAB he is effected. I could see him being run in warrior toolbox with 3x Royal Decree. I think is this had been the holo promo from Warrior's Triumph, the deck would have been sold out by now. Oh, and BTW, he is very search able, not only by his level 3 counterpart, but also by an old warrior support card from Legacy of Darkness known as Freed the Matchless General, which ill be talking about next.

Freed The Matchless General

Earth

5 Stars

[Warrior/Effect]

Atk/2300Def/1700

Negate the effect of a magic card that specifically designates this monster and destroy it. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, you may add one warrior monster from your deck to your hand instead of drawing 1 card from your draw phase. Your deck is then shuffled.

Pretty much same stats as Silent Lv. 5 and a toned-down effect but the secondary effect is the reason why he is a god in warrior decks. He has 1700 def, therefore tsuko-proof, warrior which gives him the same support as Silent, and level 5. Unfortunately he can't be morphed or equipped because of his first effect, but this also gives him immunity to snatch steal, brain control, enemy controller and soul exchange. His other effect allows you to rig your draw. That's right, RIG YOUR DRAW. Whenever your in need of a DDWL or DDA, Exiled Force, or even silent Lv 5, he can get it for you for pretty much no cost at all. So what if you skip your draw phase? It basically lets you choose what you draw. His attack allows him to hold his own against Cyber Dragon and GEAF, so most likely he'll survive the turn for you to get his effect off. He was used before but i guess with Pot and Graceful banned, people don't want to risk changing their draw. (Sigh, without a risk you'll never get a reward). And today's final underused warrior monster is.......

Freed The Brave Wanderer

Light

4 Stars

[Warrior/Effect]

Atk/1700Def/1200

Remove 2 Light monsters in your graveyard from play to destroy 1 face-up monster on the field with a higher attack than this card. You can only use this effect once per turn.

His stats are pretty sub-par, but being level 4 lets him be searched out by reinforcement of the army, and 1200 def will hold up against tsukoyomi. The most he'll kill with 1700 Attack is a used up breaker or suicide into an assailant. Once you look at his effect its not that great, remove 2 monsters to kill something with over 1700 attack and its only once per turn. But this has great potential with dimension fusion and RFaDD. In fact, in my next tip I'll post an deck list on a light/warrior dimension fusion/ decree deck that focuses around on this and the other two cards I've reviewed.

As always you can find me at vladghica2@yahoo.com

Until next time, Peace Out

Vlad
