What's wrong with originality?-Lord Sauron
June 19, 2006

Prepare for a semi-long read and bear with me, plz :'(.

Everyone now-a-days is bashing originality or trying to promote it...what's wrong with it?
Pros:
1) You have a more fun duel with your opponent.
2) You use cards that you otherwise wouldn't(ie: your favorite card your afraid to use).
3) You get to try new strategies that you wouldn't dream of with CC.
4) You might actually win!
5) You have taken the first step to full originality(ie: no staples).

Cons:
1) You might lose.
2) Not good for tournaments(that can be fixed).
3) People might laugh at you...(:( why would they do that:P).

Ok, so original decks(why do they call them original, why not like custom or
something?) aren't really that great right off the bat. They may not be tournament ready or something, but that is where the trial and error part comes in.

Steps to "Trial and Error":
1) Build a deck(try and avoid staples and CC cards).
2) Duel someone(preferably a friend so you won't get laughed at, constructive critisism).
3) What went wrong?(what didn't work? what could be better? what can I take out/put in to make it better?again avoid CC cards but try some staples ie:
mirror force).
4) Repeat steps 2-3 till deck is good(again refrain from using CC cards)

Just recently I built an Earth/Fairy deck(you know like keldo, kelbek, agido, ect.). Did it work out at first? Not a chance! I lost 2 rounds to a competative deck(BEWD deck soooo evil!!). But I digress. I lost, it was against a friend, I had built the deck 5 min before he came and I shrugged it off. I modified it, and the next game a won 2-1!! I modded some more and 2-0 against 2 decks at once!!(talk about evil huh?) My deck focused around equipment magic cards and the fairies, but that wasn't enough, so I changed it. Put in a few staples and Voila!!

So if you want to be original or are complaining about originality, be an example!! Go out and make a deck, have a small tournament(without prizes) with your friends and try it against their competative decks and see what happens...

Originality is SOOOOO fun!!!-Lord Sauron
