Subject: How can we counter the metagame today? Will C

Hola to Pojo fans everyone! I'm sure everyone has noticed that in this day and age of dueling, or any time for that matter, the metagame is always ruled over by a dominant decktype. Whether it be Magical Scientist OTK, Yata-Lock, Chaos trinity, Goat-Morph control or today's Chaos-Return variants, there has always been one deck that soars above them all and dominates the Regions, Shoen Jump and National championships. And there are most of you like me that hate to play these powerful decktypes, but they seem like the necessary evil to win these huge tournaments.

I have been reading articles on lots of different sites, from metagame to tcgplayer and of course, the infamous pojo, and I have reached a decent conclusion on how to counter the metagame today. It all comes down to a simple phrase: "Fight fire with fire."

You see, to beat the enemy sometimes means that we have to do what they do, and learn of their own tacticts. However, this does not mean run a netdeck of the top contenders in nationals. It means, use their tacticts but add some of your personal originality as well. I have tried to beat the CC with every deck I can think of as of today, but it seems like that the only way to beat them is to join them...to a certain extent, that is.

In a current CC deck I am testing, I do indeed run two Cyber Dragons, one C-Sorcerer and a Zaborg, but I don't use it with a return variant. I incorporate using different monsters, like the slightly overlooked Vampire Lord, and using an aggro-Royal Decree control style. Back before Cyber Dragon, I saw V-Lord teched in nearly every deck I came across. However, now it's run over by that friggin' Dragon by a mere 100 points, so it turned to being a Zombie-only type card. But think of it this way: If you can protect it from being destroyed in battle, then it literally becomes impervoius to Sakuretsu, Smashing, Mirror Force, Torrential and Zaborg, making it a bear to kill. It'll just come back, and then you laugh in their face saying what a waste it was to Sak it, as it will revive and destroy us all! Hahaha!!! (just kidding about the "laugh in their face" part :P )

Now of course this is only one example of how to counter the game and embrace a card's strength's through your opponent's cards. However, it can be used as an inspiration to find cards, even older ones that can actually benefit from your opponent using all their CC cards that they do. It's a small step for the CC counter, but a giant leap to the future of the game.

Next I will be introducing a few of these "CC counter" cards to help all you duelists that want to play well but still put a little of your originality and heart into your decks, even if they are CC. I will try to make them short, sweet and to the point, and, if I have time, do two at once so you have something to read and think about during the day.

Fell free to mail me w/ comments, suggestions, criticism, but please no viruses as life is too short to be doing something of the sort (hey, that rhymes!) So until next time, duel smartly, have fun, and if you haven't played Halo then get off your rump and try it 'cause it's the best d*** game I've ever played!
