Subject: Overlooked S/T Removal: Swift Birdman Joe--Maurice D.

Salutations, fellow Yu-Gi-Oh fans. Welcome to the third installment of my CCG tips regarding some underrated S/T removal cards. Oh, and before I start, I apologize for the error in my last article about Gigantes. Someone pointed out that you can Special Summon Gigantes after removing your Earth monster from play for him. Whoops! Now let's begin. This card is a new one from Enemy of Justice, and is a welcome addition to the Wind Attribute. He's the closest Wind will ever have for a Mobius, able to blow away S/Ts on the opposing field when he is summoned. He also seems to appear just in time for the upcoming Lord of the Storm Structure Deck, too. The card I'm talking about is Swift Birdman Joe.

Swift Birdman Joe

Wind/Winged Beast/2300 ATK/1400 DEF

If you Tribute Summon this card by Tributing a Wind monster, return all Spell and Trap cards on the field to the owners' hand.

As everyone should know, the Wind Attribute has a limited selection of good Tribute monsters. Armed Dragon is best in its own deck, and Harpie Lady Sisters are too weak to take on any of the more popular Tributes (cough, Zaborg, Mobius, cough). As I mentioned before, Swift Birdman Joe couldn't have come at a better time. With 2300 ATK, he pulverizes Cyber Dragon and can kamikaze into the Dark World Fiends Silva and Goldd, and maybe with some skill and luck, Chaos Sorcerer. Of course, he still fall short against those darn Monarchs...

...Unless you use Icarus Attack. With IA, you can punish your opponent for summoning a Monarch. With the sacrifice of Joe, you can nuke a Monarch and a card of your choice. Mobius's effect still resolves, but then your opponent would have nothing to nuke in return.

Since Joe is a monster version of Giant Trunade, you can return Premature Burial back to your hand after you use it. He goes great with Lady Ninja Yae, who can keep the S/T bouncing going after Joe uses up his effect. And as a Winged Beast, he also goes great with the Harpie Ladies, which offer them additional S/T removal in their deck types. If things look bleak and Joe is about to be Snatch Stealed or Smashing Grounded, there's always Spiritual Wind Art--Miyabi to save him from those cards, while returning a card on the opposing field back to the bottom of the deck.

In conclusion, Swift Birdman Joe is a solid Wind Tribute monster, who was badly needed for all Wind deck users. He's the Wind Mobius, so Wind deck users don't have to stoop low enough to sneak that cookie-cutter Monarch into their decks. That concludes my newest article. If you have any comments, you know my e-mail address: mxdelamar@yahoo.com. Stay tuned for my next one!
