Subject: Heart of the Cards - Ezekiel

Hey All!

"Heart of the Cards!" A phrase that either infuriates or gives hope to duelists everywhere. It is a quirk of fate than allows you to draw the card you need when you need it. I'll not lie to you, there have been occasions whenever I've needed a specific card and low and behold I drew it.

Coincidence?

Perhaps.

But I will attempt to discover a logical explanation behind it. Generally decks have 40-ish cards, maybe a few more if they need it, but anywhere between 40-45. I will be studying this with a deck of 40 cards. Therefore to draw a particular card merits a 1/40 chance of being drawn. However, by containing multiple copies of a card in your deck this can become a 1/20 chance or a 1/13.33 chance for two and three copies respectivley.
Searcher cards such as the Elemental Summoner Searchers, Type Summoner Searchers and Hand Searcher such as Mystic Tomato, Masked Dragon and Sangan respectively can help get a certain Monster card with < 1500 ATK as well as Spell Cards that can also find you a Monster like Reinforcement of the Army. But what about Spell or Trap cards? This is incredibly limited to a few cards. Dark Sage can retrieve a Spell Card, but it is incredibly hard to summon and to my knowledge (though I may be wrong) there is no Trap searcher.

There are a wealth of Draw cards like Dekoichi, the Dark Mimics, Lacooda but whilst they thin your deck and increase the chance to draw one card you especially need. This is where the "Heart of the Cards" or as I like to call it, the "Soul of your Deck," comes into play. With no other way to get a card you need you can only hope and pray that you draw the card you need. If you do then you can believe in the Soul of your Deck or it was purely coincidence. If you don't then keep trying and maybe someday you will be successful!

As always contact me about anything at the usual address:-

In my next articles I will be doing another Card of the Day (read: when I get the time.)

Till next time folks
Peace Out,
Ezekiel
