Subject: Dark Scorpion Deck and Tips by Bodacious1 (for tips section)

Dark Scorpions

"This is truly an unsupported theme and has no hope of ever becoming a
Tier-2 decktype." If you ask most experienced duelists/collectors about this

theme, that response is most likely what they'll spit back at you. Only a few real cards have been released (*cough Dark Crisis cough*) that have made

this even near-playable. This is almost as un-playable as a plant deck, which recently (sadly) saw Truesdale's effect change. I have good news, though (it doesn't have to do with car insurance), we have been overlooking loads of Dark Scorpion support, most of which came out before the set release of Dark Crisis. Legacy of Darkness is the set, and it has to do with

Warriors (The Dark Scorpions are Warriors!). Here is a card that I believe is essential in any Dark Scorpion Deck.

Freed the Matchless General
Earth/Warrior/5/2300/1700
Effect: Negate the effect of a Magic Card that specifically designates this card as a target and destroy it. As long as this card remains face-up on the

field, you can add 1 Warrior-Type monster from your Deck to your hand per turn instead of drawing 1 card during your Draw Phase. Your Deck is then shuffled.

Whoa, I bet that made you spit your morning coffee all over your monitor (not literally). I consider this a staple in any deck that focuses around Warriors, as the possibilities are almost endless.

This can get:

Don Zaloog
Cliff the Trap Remover
Dark Scorpion- Meanae the Thorn
Dark Scorpion- Chick the Yellow
Marauding Captain
Goblin Attack Force
D.D. Assailant
Exiled Force

The only bad side about this effect is that you could delay a game-breaking draw, but that isn't much to worry about since you'll be packing all the Dark Scorpions into your hand.

This card basically gets you most of the Dark Scorpions- meaning, in 4 turns, you could have 4 of them in your hand and/or on the field. It also gets you Marauding Captain, meaning you can get an extra summon twice (we're

running two M. Captain) while this is on the field.

Here are the Scorpions and Scorpion support cards:

Don Zaloog
Dark/Warrior/4/1400/1500
Effect: When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points, you can select and activate 1 of the following effects:
1. Select 1 card from your opponent's hand randomly and discard it to the Graveyard.
2. Send 2 cards from the top of your opponent's Deck to the Graveyard.

Cliff the Trap Remover
Dark/Warrior/3/1200/1000
Effect: When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points, you can select and activate 1 of the following effects:
1. Destroy 1 Spell Card or Trap Card on the field.
2. Send 2 cards from the top of your opponent's Deck to his/her Graveyard

Dark Scorpion- Meanae the Thorn
Dark/Warrior/4/1000/1800
Effect: When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points, you can select and activate 1of the following effects:
1. Select 1 card that includes "Dark Scorpion" in its card name, or is named "Cliff the Trap Remover", from your Deck and add it to your hand.
2. Select 1 card that includes "Dark Scorpion" in its card name, or is named "Cliff the Trap Remover", from your Graveyard and add it to your hand.

Dark Scorpion- Chick the Yellow
Dark/Warrior/3/1000/1000
Effect: When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points; you can select and activate 1 of the following effects:
1. Return 1 card on the field to its owner's hand.
2. See 1 card on the top of your opponent's Deck. Your opponent does not see

the card. Then return it on the top or the bottom of your opponent's Deck.

Dark Scorpion- Gorg the Strong
Dark/Warrior/5/1800/1500
Effect: When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points

you can select and activate 1 of the following effects:
1. Return 1 Monster Card on your opponent's side of the field to the top of its owner's Deck 2. Send 1 card from the top of your opponent's Deck to the Graveyard.

Mustering of the Dark Scorpions
Spell Card
Effect: You can only activate this card when you have "Don Zaloog" face-up on your side of the field. You can Special Summon any of the cards from your

hand that include "Dark Scorpion" in the card name, or are named "Cliff the Trap Remover". You cannot Special Summon 2 cards with the same card name by the effect of this card.

Dark Scorpion Combination
Trap Card
Effect: You can only activate this card when you have "Don Zaloog", "Cliff the Trap Remover" Dark Scorpion - Chick the Yellow", "Dark Scorpion - Gorg the Strong", and "Dark Scorpion - Meanae the Thorn" face-up on your side of the field. During the turn this card is activated any of these 5 cards can attack your opponent's Life Points directly. In that case, the Battle Damage

inflicted by each of those cards (that attack your opponent's Life Points directly becomes 400 points.

Let's talk about these cards. Zaloog is a dead solid monster with a crackerjack effect. He is one of the cards currently run in the Warrior Toolbox CC because of his searchability (noun: something easily-searchable) and by the power of his effect. His effect has a better chance of hitting its target when combined with D.D. Assailant. Think about it, your opponent mostly has one monster on the field anyway, just attack it w/Assailant, remove both from play, and then attack directly with Zaloog to get his effect.

Cliff is a great all-around card to have. He can destroy magics and traps when he inflicts battle damage. You don't know if that is Sakuretsu Armor or

BTH set, just attack (when you have a trap-negating card ready --- Saku. is dangerous and can catch you off guard) and destroy. Simple as that. You could destroy so many good m/t's, it's mind-boggling.

Good Targets:

Mystical Space Typhoon (set)
Heavy Storm (set)
Dust Tornado (set)
Sakuretsu Armor (set)
Trap Hole (set)
Bottomless Trap Hole (set)
Royal Decree
Snatch Steal
Enemy Controller (set)
Solemn Judgment (set)
Premature Burial
Call of the Haunted
Reinforcement of the Army (set)

The list goes on and on.

Meanae has a great reviving effect. She does not hit often, but when she does, you can get any of the Scorpions with this effect. The only way to search out Grog is with her effect.

Chick isn't that great of a card, overall. Combined with the others, though,

his effects can be quite devastating. The good thing about it is that you can clear the field for his big brothers, Don and Cliff, so they can activate their awesome effects.
Grog is your Scorpion "beatstick". It only has 1800 ATK, but also has 5 stars, a real pain to have in any deck. The only card it can be searched by is Meanae, and she will not be a real attacking threat to your opponent, so you will rarely activate her effect.

Mustering is a great magic card. Use Freed's effect for a few turns and pack

your hand with Dark Scorpion cards. Then Normal Summon Zaloog and play this.

DSC is the most situational card in Yugioh. The only way this is going to work (it will probably work 1 out of every 2-3 duels {Note: I have not playtested this deck yet, this is just an estimate} if you follow my tips the correct way) is if you follow my tips completely.

Tips:

1. Get Freed out A.S.A.P. - you want to start getting the Dark Scorpions into your hand quickly so you can plague your opponent with their effects for most of the duel, and then of course beat them down silly with Warrior support.
2. Use Mustering along with Freed's effect - it is the only real way you even have a chance at activating DSC.
3. Use Marauding Captain to your advantage - get Don Zaloog or a Mystic Tomato on the field quickly and overwhelm your opponent.
4. Use Zaloog's effect along with the effect of D.D. Assailant for crackerjack results - all you CC players know what I'm saying "attack with Assailant, remove both from play, then attack with Zaloog and hit directly, activating his effect (this can only work when there is one monster on your opponent's side of the field)".
5. Use trample cards - it may sound crazy, but you can equip Big Bang Shot (+ 400 ATK and Trample) and inflict battle damage while your opponent's monsters are in defense position. Use this only with the Scorpions, and GAF if needed, because this card won't work when equipped to Freed the Matchless

General (refer to effect).
6. Use brute strength to your advantage - play GAF on your first turn (don't

attack!!), but instead, watch as your opponent changes all of his monsters into defense position. Then get Don out, equip your trample card of choice (Big Bang Shot), attack, and easily activate Don's effect time after time again.
7. Use your Warrior support cards - use Reinforcement of the Army to search out needed Warriors when Freed isn't out commanding the troops. Use The Warrior Returning Alive to bring back dead Scorpions to your hand.
8. Use your monster effects when you need them most - don't use your Exiled Force on a Mystic Tomato, settle for Spirit Reaper (when you don't have Don trampling all over the place, when you have a trampling Don, Spirit Reapers are your best friends, literally).
9. Play your cards wisely - bluff, set "fake" Sakuretsu Armors that are actually stuff you don't need.

Here is your deck, enjoy.
