Subject: What The Next Banlist Should Look Like-Anteaus

Hello, all Pojoers!

You know, 2006 has come and with its coming does a great new year of Y-Gi-Oh! follow. Also, with the new year comes 2 new banlists: one on April 1st, the other on October 1st, which we are all eagerly awaiting. But this article, while it does focus on the banlist (kinda), is not necessarily a prediction of what will be on the banlist. Rather, it is my personal thoughts on what should be on the upcoming banlist slated for April 1st, 2006.

Now, before I get into it, just let me mention one thing: originality is not dead, it just needs to be revitalized a little bit. With that said, I shall now delve into my thoughts on the "new" banlist:

I. Forbidden Cards

You cannot use these cards in your Deck, Fusion Deck or Side Deck.

Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning

Change of Heart
Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End
Delinquent Duo
Fiber Jar
Graceful Charity
Harpie's Feather Duster
Imperial Order
Magical Scientist
Mirage of Nightmare
Monster Reborn
Painful Choice
Pot of Greed
Raigeki
Ring of Destruction

Tribe-Infecting Virus
Witch of the Black Forest
Yata-Garasu

NEW!: These cards are no longer banned: Butterfly Dagger-Elma, Makyura the Destructor, Mirror Force, Sinister Serpent, The Forceful Sentry.

Okay, that covers the Forbidden aspect, and let me explain a few things:

Butterfly Dagger-Elma has no good combos. Period. Not even the Gearfried combos work, so yeah. Makyura has a combo, but it most likely won't see too much play what with the metagame that could emerge (stick around for the next batch-Limited cards). Mirror Force is a great card but not ban-list worthy. So is Sinister Serpent, seeing as how there's a lot of discard effects, it gets too overbearing and we really need him back to counter the current meta, and The Forceful Sentry is like Mirror Force: not banlist worthy, and besides, we need a bit more hand control with what I'm about to throw out.

Next, the Limited:

II. Limited Cards

You can ONLY use one of the following cards in the Deck, Fusion Deck & Side Deck combined.

Book of Taiyou
Breaker the Magical Warrior
Call of the Haunted
Card Destruction
Ceasefire
Confiscation

Cyber Dragon
Cyber Jar
D. D. Warrior Lady
Dark Hole
Dark Magician of Chaos

D.D. Assailant
Deck Devastation Virus
Exchange of the Spirit (Available at Shonen Jump's Elemental Energy Sneak Preview!)
Exiled Force
Exodia the Forbidden One

Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World
Heavy Storm
Injection Fairy Lily
Jinzo
Left Arm of the Forbidden One
Left Leg of the Forbidden One
Lightning Vortex
Limiter Removal
Mage Power
Magic Cylinder
Morphing Jar
Mystical Space Typhoon
Premature Burial
Protector of the Sanctuary
Reckless Greed
Reflect Bounder
Right Arm of the Forbidden One
Right Leg of the Forbidden One
Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys
Sangan

Sillva, Warlord of Dark World

Snatch Steal
Swords of Revealing Light
Thousand-Eyes Restrict
Torrential Tribute
Twin-Headed Behemoth
United We Stand

NEW!: Cyber Dragon, D.D. Assailant, Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World, Sillva, Warlord of Dark World. Cards removed from the list: Night Assailant, Nobleman of Crossout, Tsukuyomi.

Okay, now these thoughts: Cyber Dragon=broken. That's it. D.D. Assailant=broken. Goldd=too powerful in the meta. Sillva=too powerful to. Night Assailant=not as powerful as it used to be. Same with NoC and Tsukuyomi.

Now then, for the Semi-Limited Cards:

III. Semi-Limited Cards

You can ONLY use two of the following cards in the Deck, Fusion Deck & Side Deck combined.

Abyss Soldier

Brain Control
Creature Swap
Emergency Provisions
Good Goblin Housekeeping
Last Turn

Manticore of Darkness

Mobius the Frost Monarch
Reinforcement of the Army

Sakuretsu Armor

NEW!: Nobleman of Crossout, Brain Control, Sakuretsu Armor, Mobius the Frost Monarch. Removed from the list: Level Limit-Area B, Gravity Bind, Upstart Goblin.

Okay, here we go again:

Nobleman of Crossout can really help decks again, what with all the Dekochis floating around out there. Brain Control limits control over the duel, allowing for some more innovation and/or ownage (depending). Sakuretsu Armor coupled with Mirror Force is too deadly, hence the limitation. Mobius the Frost Monarch has become the staple S/T destruction behind Dust Tornado (which isn't on here due to its trap form), but because of its ease in getting on the field it deserves a spot here. Level Limit-Area B, however, isn't as powerful as we all once thought, so it should be off the banlist entirely. With 3x Dust Tornado, 2x Mobius (going off of this banlist), 1x each of Heavy Storm, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Breaker the Magical Warrior, not to mention Swarm of Locusts and Sacred Phoenix, it shouldn't pose too much of a threat. As for Gravity Bind...trap, easy to negate/destroy, yeah.

So, that's it. Anyone want to dispute me, go ahead, but I ask that you do it not through e-mail (although that is accepted...I get lonely :), but rather do it through the CCG page on Pojo. Thank you, and please refrain from flaming/bashing/whatever other nickname it has. It's immature, so please, don't embarass yourself. Carry yourself in this debate in a calm, cool manner. Thank you.

So e-mail all thoughts to Anteaus44@aol.com.

Cheers,

Anteaus
