Subject: The demise of Dark World - N. Jolly

Hello there.  I'm here to talk about the newest kind of monsters to hit YGO, the Dark World monsters.  They are some of the most versitile monsters this game has; managing to be powerful, yet not broken.  Yet sadly, I have not seen that many Dark World decks around my area, instead seeing mainly CC decks as far as the eye can see.  And this makes me wonder...what's wrong with Dark World?

I recently went up to a regional event, where I saw a grand total of four Dark World decks, two of which being made by the group I came up with(one was mine).  And of the DW that wasn't run by me, I saw what made me realize  why people aren't running DW: people don't realize that not every DW card is worth playing.  People playing Zure and Scarr are not playing DW the way it should be.  Personally, I'm not even a fan of Beige and Brron, but I can see them being used alot faster than the last two.  The problem is that no one knows how to make a DW deck until it Top 8's up at Nationals, and until then people are going to continue throwing DW decks together from every DW card there is.

There is great promise in DW decks, myself having run one that has an 85% win ration, and a close friend of mine runs a great hand control variation of DW.  The point is that DW can run if put into the right deck, one suited for both itself and the current meta.  Try out your DW deck against the CC decks, you'll be shocked to see how well it does.  Nothing brings a smile to my face more than my opponent's Spirit Reaper striking me and discarding a Goldd, losing any advantage they thought they had.

If you want my DW deck list or just to get ahold of me, E-mail me at sephychangod@yahoo.com

N. Jolly
