Hello

In the spirit of Jae Kim's legendary post about the new banlist, I just wanted to say that this is "our game." And it will always be our game. But now, on to other things.

In this metagame today, 1-for-1's dominate over all. They do, and this is a known fact. It's been a known fact, and it will continue to remain a known fact forever. But in past metagames, 1-for-1's didn't dominate; mass removal and Stallage/Thousand Eyes-Restrict/Tsukuyomi locks dominated. Before that, it was Chaos. Before that, Yata. Before that, Beatdown. Traditional style Beatdown. And now, Konami decides to relive the past in some nostalgic, metagame-destroying way.

Here's my beef with everyone--including Upper Deck and Konami--that wants to either ban/restrict the 1-for-1. 1-for-1 trades are crucial to the game today because they balance the current slew of Cyber Dragon/Bazoo/Whatever cards are out there. 1-for-1 trades cull the spread of mass monster summoning with cards like Bottomless Trap Hole, Trap Hole, Sakuretsu Armor, Smashing Ground...the list goes on. The point is that 1-for-1 trades limit a player's options. It curbs the speed of the game, making it slower and more pronounced, more time-consuming and thought-provoking. The current list is designed to keep players from over-extending, keep them thinking about new ways to counter. The current list is setup for increased creativity.

And besides, everyone is making too much fuss over it. While I agree that a continuously updating banlist is a fantastic idea, I also think that this current list is good. Don't make too many changes.

Plus, Cyber Dragon is broken. So is D.D.A. I know, people will probably call me a hypocrite over this, but I really honestly don't care. It's true. They should both be banned. D.D.A. is too good. And so, I now give to all of you, the fine citizens of Pojo.com, my own personal take on how the banlist should be setup:
