Trading Card Game Tips from fans

Synergy is Important for a Good Deck-Dreading Night

Alright everyone, this is my first tip to Pojo.

And something has been bugging me for a long time. Some of the deck's I've seen posted on Pojo and other places...some people just aren't thinking.

People now adays don't let there decks synergize. If people don't know what synergy is, its how well your cards go together. You need to let your deck synergize together. Some cards need to go together to get it going.

The best example is Last Will.

You can't just throw this card into a deck and expect it to work. You need to put cards in your deck to let it work. You need to use cards like Treeborn Frog, Enemy Controller, and other tribute methods. This is why Last Will became so good, its because people knew how to create synergy and advantage with just one card. But this one card needs other cards to become great.

Another good example of synergy are tribute monsters, especially two tribute monsters. Some monsters are good to tribute for, the monarchs are the best example. Because even if they fail you get your advantage out of it. But what happens when using a two tribute monster. Dark Magician and Blue Eyes White Dragon are the classic two tribute monsters. These guys are okay because they have the support to get them out and make them just as deadly.
But you once again can't just throw them into a deck and expect them to work just because your favorite character uses them, or you see another person use it well. You need ways to get it out without wasting resources.

So in Dark Magician's case you have a great spell card called Tribute Doll.
Tribute Doll pretty much acts like the second tribute for any 7 star monster, Dark Magician being the prime example. But as for Blue Eyes how do you get the dragon out? It is a bit more complicated but it will be deadly.
The Paladin of White Dragon is a ritual monster, 4 stars, 1900 attack with 1200 defense. It can destroy any face down monster without flipping it.
Right there is a powerful effect for a Blue Eyes deck. Then you also have it's ability to summon the dragon. You can offer it during your Main Phases to summon the Dragon from your hand or deck (not sure about the graveyard).

It is great synergy right there. The Paladin clears the powerful effect monsters out of the way and when your ready you can offer it to bring the Dragon out.

This is just a small example of synergy right here and there is also plenty more. I hope this helped some of you and good luck to all of you. Especially since we have the new ban list coming out.
