Subject: Bad Upper Deck, Stop Peeing On The Carpet - Clayton

Ah, Upper Deck, your trouble knows no bounds, does it?

For those of you curious to know why I am irate, please go look at the new banned and restricted list. Go on, I'll wait.

...

...

...

Alright, where was I? Ah, yes.

After taking a look at the banned list for the first time, I was appalled and disgusted. They banned Cyber Jar and Dark Hole? Exchange of the Spirit?

However, on deeper analysis, there is some thread of logic here, one that I am finally going to act upon, one that sort of doesn't make any sense except to them.

It's not that they don't know what the hell they're doing.

They don't, but that's not the point.

Alright, lets take a look...

Cyber Jar: They banned this NOT because of the abusive pick up five cards effect, but because of the abusive DESTROY ALL MONSTERS effect. The conversation probably looked like this.

"Cyber Jar is EVIL! It destroyed all my monsters, then my opponent RAPED me with his five new monsters because the only monster I got was a Harpy's Brother."

"Wow! Really?"

"Yeah, and I had three Blue Eyes on the field set to 'rape'..."

"What? He came back from behind?"

"Yeah..."

"BANBANBANBANBANBANBANBAN!"

...And so on and so forth.

Dark Hole: It's like Raigeki, except not. I've always wanted to say that about Lightning Vortex, but never got a chance. Anyways, this card saves people. Which is why they banned it.

Exchange of the Spirit: At its base, a save your assets card. Have you been stalled to near death? No? Then why the hell do you have Exchange of the Spirit? Because it combos well with other cards? OH!

Last Turn: Hi good concept for a combo that Upper Deck doesn't want us to use because anyone who plays Advanced must be either eight or not willing to be killed by a damn Yata and both those groups are hated by UD.

Time Seal: Hi Yata. Hi Combo.

Note the common link: all of these cards either...

a) Save your ass from near and certain death.

or

b) Rock so hard in a combo.

Which is why the comeback of Graceful Charity scares the hell out of me. This gives Dark World monsters another weapon, which is ridiculous given the fact that they already have too many of those.

It seems that, in my opinion, Upper Deck just wants us to play beatdown or get the hell out and go to Traditional, which as far as I know they DON'T SUPPORT.

Also, Traditional is ridiculously flooded with decks that are all mirrors of themselves and each other ANYWAYS! People want to be able to play their really good cards, so they play traditional. People do not play Traditional to be able to access Time Seal again, they play to have access to Yata and CED.

This ban list is a sham. Yes, ban lists do some good, but UD doesn't understand that. It's not really their fault, though; even if UDE wanted to make a Raigeki that somehow didn't suck (I'm looking at you, Lightning Vortex), it would have to come out in Japan first.

What we need is to go a good six months without the ban list. Take everything Forbidden and make it Restricted, take everything Restricted and make it Semi, take everything Semi and take it off the list all together. Then, Upper Deck needs to let the people decide. Is Fiber Jar THAT dangerous if it effects both players? Is Raigeki that much more dangerous than Dark Hole? Is Pot of Avarice sort of... odd?

Lets work together to make a banned list that doesn't suck. A banned list that has us able to play Monster Reborn, Change of Heart, Cyber Jar, and, God forbid, three copies of Apprentice Magician.

Questions? Comments? Concerns? Suggestions for a new banned list concept? E-Mail me at clayton@deeperimpact.com and I'll make a new article, complete with details, reasoning, and logical explanations, putting together a new banned list that will knock people's socks off, making the waters a bit safer for unique decks.
