General Tip - Dark Dragon

Hi there, I’m The Dark Dragon, and I’m writing this for two reasons. One is a plea, and one is a general tip. I’ll start with the tip.

Before I explain this tip properly, I must give credit to a friend of mine for introducing me to it, Steve. Cheers!

Apprentice Magician. A greatly overlooked monster, IMO. Put it in a Control deck, and it will work wonders. You see, this little baby can give you just about anything you need, and really deserves a Control deck based around this little guy. Let me explain.

Apprentice Magician can get you Monster destruction (brings out Old Vindictive Magician) Apprentice Magician can recycle your magics (brings out Magician of Faith) Apprentice Magician can get you Magic/Trap destruction (gives Breaker the Magical Warrior another counter) Apprentice Magician can get you tribute bait (another Apprentice Magician, any other little spellcaster) Apprentice Magician can get you a broken monster (brings out Hand of Nephthys, then that gets out Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys) Apprentice Magician acts as a defensive wall (keep getting out monsters to defend with)

So you see, he is a pretty versatile guy. So try a deck with Apprentice Magician, Breaker, Old Vindictive Magician, Magician of Faith, Hand of Nephthys and Phoenix. You won’t be disappointed.

And now the plea.

Nearly every week I go to a YuGiOh! tournament. And it’s great fun. But there is one thing that really, really bugs me. They are commonly called n00bs, but I don’t really like to call them that because that is seen as an offensive term. I don’t mind people who are new to the game, who may not know the rules, because we were all there, and we can’t expect people to know how to play just like that.

But there are new people and there are the others. This plea goes out to them.

Please don’t contesting ban lists and non-rules (like one my mate had. He thought Sonic Bird was unaffected by Gravity Bind because it just flew over
it) with the judges. They are judges for a reason. They have been in the game much longer then you have and know more than you do.

Please don’t try and trade with people in the middle of a duel. Its rude, its annoying. When someone says, ‘I’ll trade when I’ve finished this duel’, they mean it.

Please don’t tell everyone that your deck is unstoppable. Everyone’s deck has a weakness, even the World Champion’s, so why does yours, made up of 3 Blue-Eyes, 3 Dark Magicians, 3 God Cards (that I pointed out in a duel were illegal. He almost shouted that I was wrong. Until I pointed out the text on the card that says that it cannot be used in a duel) and LOB commons, not have any way to stop it (in this case, I beat him 2-0, losing only 800 lifepoints to an Ookazi)

Please heed these pleas. It’ll help make YuGiOh! tournaments much less annoying, and much more enjoyable.

If you would like to discuss anything here, please feel free to email me at drakoon_noir@hotmail.com
