Complainer of the Banlist, or Godsent Messenger - Motoaki ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- Date: Wed, 30 Mar 2005 18:23:53 -0800 Today I will cover one of the most controversial topics in our Yu-Gi-Oh world today, the banlist. Yes, I know it's been done a biztrillion times, but not by me! Also, I will be reviewing the article of a fellow CCG writer who you will see shortly. Any and all email is welcome (motoaki@gmail.com). First and foremost I would like to dedicate this to all those out there whose decks lost a lot a power due to the ban list. Get over it and move on. Seriously, it is people like 'JoeTrex3000' who posted the recent article "What is the point of banned cards My look at originality," that make me (I would say sick, but that statement is overused and a bit too much) unhappy. If you don't mind, I will quote this fellow and state my opinion accordingly. (JoeTrex3000) "...there are people who spent tons of money on trying to get these cards that a year later end up getting banned. I am getting the feeling that they got complaints of people being scared of all the great cards." Hmmm... Okay, so there are people who spend a "ton" (no literally a metric ton! 2,000 pounds of pure money) on cards that are banned a year later. The way I see it, they have reasons for banning cards (find me a banned card which there is no logical reason for banning it and I will write an article on how everything I've said here was wrong, which it isn't). "...being scared of all the great cards." How ignorant can you possibly be? I'm sorry for being rude but I think this guy has made a fool of himself. Perhaps we should unban all the banned cards! While we're at it we might as well unrestrict the restricted cards! And since we want people to fear your great cards, JoeTrex3000, we might as well make the God Cards legal (assuming that you will spend a "ton of money" and use them against poverty stricken kids who only want to duel for fun). You know, if the Blue Eyes White Dragon (IN THE SHOW) was banned, im sure Kaiba would react in almost the exact same way. "Banned?! My Blue Eyes White Dragons!?!? Hmph, 'I am getting the feeling that they got complaints of people being scared of all the great cards.'" (Omg I can hear it in my head. Seriously! Imagine Kaiba saying that right now.) Hahaha, sorry about that, let me continue. First of all, banned cards like Raigeki, Harpies Feather Duster, Yata Garasu, Imperial Order, and the other pricey banned cards (meaning they never became common like Monster Reborn) either gave the using player a cheap advantage (against a player who runs none of your "powerful cards!") or they are used by the other player as well (which I'm sure everyone used if they were in tournaments and their decks were really competative). Well if everyone has like 15 cards in their deck which are exactly the same, what's the fun in that? If you didn't have a job or if you were in poverty or something along those lines, how fair is it to enter a tournament, thinking you will be facing duelists similar to those you see on the Yu-Gi-Oh show, and you come to find they ALL are running the best cards which you can't afford. Maybe if you would open your mind and try to see things in different perspective, maybe you wouldn't have completely made such an ignorant and selfish fool of yourself. Yeah you can't play Raigeki any more, but neither can I. When the first Ban List came out, I lost 12 or 13 cards, and I couldn't be any more happy. Seriously, every time there is a new banlist the entire tournament environment changes. When this happens I can play new strategies against the 'common tourny deck,' and try to show them that you can win running unique and original deck types. "I'm sorry to all of the "Advanced" people that you cant seem to come up with an idea to beat a strong card." This was 'copied and pasted' directly from his article. Now, I'm pointing this out for two main reasons. One, this sentance is so grammatically wrong and confusing that I almost couldn't comprehend what he was saying, and two, he is trying to say that he's come up with a way to break free from a Yata-lock with no cards. He's trying to say that he's come up with a way to negate Raigeki with only monster cards on his side of the field. He's saying he found a way to prevent a FTK (first turn kill) from his opponent's Magical Scientist when his opponent is going first. Really now, your head is way too big. You need to stop overestimating and thinking only about yourself. "In a year upper deck is going to ban all monsters that have an effect or an attack of 1500 or more. We cant let this happen to the game." Great God almighty. We can't let that happen! The funny thing here is that he sounds so sure of himself. Reread that quote again please. "In a year upper deck is going to ban all monsters that have an effect or an attack of 1500 or more. We cant let this happen to the game." Haaaahaha. You're right JoeTrex3000! By golly your right. Thank you, oh Godsent Messenger, for your Forecast of the Future! Alrite well feel free to read JoeTrex3000's article. It's from March 29, and it's title is "What is the point of banned cardsMy look at originality." Just out of curiosity, I would like anyone and everyone reading this to send me an email (it doesn't have to be long), and tell me who you agree with more, JoeTrex3000, or myself. I just want a rough estimate as to how many people seriously think the banlist is killing the game vs. those who like the banlist and think it helps. That's all for today, keep the articles coming JoeTrex3000, can't wait to read your next! -Motoaki
