FET... Another Step Up For Beasts - Kaan ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: Kaine Reto Date: Fri, 25 Mar 2005 23:36:19 -0500 (EST) I was just looking through the latest Booster Set, Flaming Eternity, and I was shocked that they were making Beasts even more powerful. Here are all of the Beasts worth mentioning. Let's check out the first Beast on the list FET-EN012. Maji-Gire Panda EARTH/Beast/4/1000/500 As long as this card remains face-up on the field, each time a Beast-Type monster(s) on the field is destroyed, increase the ATK of this card by 500 points. Okay, i know what you're going to say. "What's so good about that card? It's will probably only last one power up before it dies." I thought pretty much the same thing at first glance. I was thinking might as well take Bazoo or Berserk Gorilla. But I knew there had to be something better about this card, come on he's Gyaku-Gire Panda's brother. I just took a quick look at some of my old deck lists and I found the answer. The almight Scapegoat!!! Of course, your opponent will never kill off your scapegoats while this guy is on the field, and it is stupid to pointlessy suicide your scapegoats at an average of 1500 LP just for a 500 point boost for one monster. So, of course, there's more to the strategy. You can take this on two favourable different pathways. There's Hallowed Life Barrier, which will allow you to suicide your scapegoats at no cost. And then there's Skull Lair, it is a small price and considering Fibre Jar is gone, there is really no point in keeping all of your monsters in the graveyard. And if you run a Dimension Fusion, it wouldn't be such as bad idea to use this to get your monsters in position. Another card you can use is Ojama Trio. Unfortunately, Maji-Gire Panda can't kill these guys off without a boost. Okay enough with this guy. FET-EN013 is up next. Catnipped Kitty EARTH/Beast/2/0/500 This card cannot be attacked if there is another Beast-Type monster on your side of the field. Make the DEF of 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field 0 until the End Phase. This effect can only be used once per turn. Really straight forward monster. A continuous Micro Ray. Catnipped Kitty + Enraged Battle Ox + Berserk Gorilla + Light of Intervension = no more defence position for your opponent. But personally, I think is waste of space in a deck, but someone else may find some use for this guy. Okay now for the next one, FET-EN014. Behemoth the King of All Animals EARTH/Beast/7/2700/1500 This card can be Normal Summoned or Set with 1 Tribute Monster. In that case, the original ATK of this card becomes 2000. When this card is Tribute Summoned successfully, you can return from your Graveyard to the owner's hand a number of Beast-Type monsters equal to the number of Tributed monsters. The ONLY good Tribute Beast monster, IMO. The first effect is basically a Fusilier effect with ups and downs. Let's compare. Fusilier is better for Metamorphosus because it does not need a tribute. Fusilier has a 100 point advantage in it's two tribute form. If the situation arose, Behemoth CAN tribute for one monster. His weakened form is 2000, just below average for a one tribute monster. Behemoth beats Fusilier with his second effect. Get back your Beserk Gorilla for a second chance. Get back your Des Koala for anouther flip. Get back your Rescue Cat to prepare to swarm your opponent a second time. Or just take back the Beast monsters you tributed for Behomoth. The next one is number FET-EN016. Kangaroo Champ EARTH/Beast/4/800/700 A monster that battles with this card is changed to Defense Position after damage calculation. This is basically is to be played face-down waiting for that unexpectant Jinzo to attack. Useful to have in a tight spot. And now one of my favourites, FET-EN033. Rescue Cat EARTH/Beast/4/300/100 Send this face-up card on your side of the field to the Graveyard to Special Summon 2 Level 3 or lower Beast-Type monsters from your Deck to the field. The monsters Special Summoned in this way are destroyed during the End Phase. This is one of the more useful cards I've used. One on my most favourable strategies is for a one swift and powerful strike. Just think, Enraged Battle Ox and two Berserk Gorillas. Summon this guy and send him to the graveyard for two Milus Radiants. That's a 1000 point boost for all of your monsters. Now lets think of the numbers; 2700, 3000, 3000, 1300, 1300 with trample abililty, and thats not even including stuff like Gaia Power. This card can also get the other 3 Hump Lacoodas to get the effect.. You can also go old school and use this card to get the Ojama for Ojama Delta Hurricaine!! You can also you this effect to get tributes for Behemoth or Gaia the Fierce Knight. Now we're starting with the Spell/Trap support, FET-EN038. Poision Fangs Normal Spell Each time a Beast-Type monster inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points, inflict 500 points of damage to your opponent's Life Points. Isn't too awesome, but considering trampling is key to Beast decks, it's no too bad. Another good support card, FET-EN048. The Big March of Animals Quick-Play Spell Until the End Phase, increase the ATK of all face-up Beast-Type monsters on your side of the field by 200 points for each Beast-Type monster on your side of the field. A temporary A. Forces for Beasts. And it's Quick-Play so you can surprise your opponent with this. And with Rescue Cat, it has become that much easier to swarm. Finally, that's the end to this.
