What is happening?-Anteaus ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: Anteaus44@aol.com Date: Sat, 12 Mar 2005 02:00:58 EST When I take a look each weekend at the new additions to Pojo.com, I am both amazed and shocked at what I find. I see all these people-Pook, JAELOVE, DeathJester, all of them, pour their heart and soul into their articles. I find these long and detailed, with plenty of information that helps me out when I need it most. I used to feel that way, too, with the CCG Tips page and the Tourney Reports, but that sense of helpfulness that I found in those two places is now gone. And I'm trying to figure out why. Is it that the people are just too apathetic? Do we, as duelists, just not care anymore? Or is it something bigger, more profound, that we don't sense? During the Summer and Fall months, the CCG section had literally hundreds of tips, most about the upcoming banlist. Now that that banlist has come and gone, the interest level of the common duelist has dropped significantly. No more do I see the raging debates over the CCG page, ranging from the banlist to a certain combo to rulings that one person had at a tournament that previous weekend. All I see now is "Awesome Tip" and "This is soooooo Sweet!" Where has the emotion gone? Where did this passion that I saw, this intense fire that was burning so brightly during the summer, go? I see myself as the only true person that I know who visits this site that is perturbed by this apathy. Am I just too overeager, overreacting too much, wishing upon a star, as it were? And to tell you the truth, I'm really confused in this world that we are living in, the entire Pojo universe and all who dwell in it, that of which is engulfed in the world of the CCG and the TCG. I find things that I would have never thought lacking, as if I was trying to solve a 1000 piece puzzle with half the pieces missing. So, please, answer me this: What is happening? Where did all the emotion and the intensity go? I mean, there is a new banlist, but no one is speaking up about it; but now that I'm on the subject, I don't want to be a hypocrite and not talk about it, so here's my thought on it: It's good and it's bad. United We Stand is kind of a killer, what with the Scapegoat combo and all that, and Mirror Force had lost a lot of power with the advent of Harpie's Feather Duster and Breaker. But now that HFD is gone and MST is down to one, I think that MF will gain some of its power back, but not nearly as much as it had before HFD and Breaker. Also, D.D. Warrior Lady down to one and V-Lord down to 2 is just plain stupid. Vampire decks just got an added boost and the Chaos deck just died a little more inside, but no matter; Warrior decks are hit the hardest. It's instant removal, and what is better than that? Change of Heart being banned was a good idea, because now we have to focus out efforts on stopping all the Magicians and the Man-Eater Bugs that (IMO) will be running rampant. Also, Mirage of Nightmare needs to be banned. That card is too overrated as it is, and Painful Choice as well. Oh well, we'll see come April 1st. Now, there's a lot more I could have said, but I want people to react and respond to my post, then allow me to rebut it, then continue the debate post after post, drawing more people in as time goes on until we have this huge royal rumble like there was last summer and fall. That is my dream, and I hope you all will help make it come true. Wake up and smell what's cooking, people. The world of Yu-Gi-Oh! is vast and constantly changing, so get in on the action. Try to come up with awesome ways to counter something, then run it in your main deck and playtest it. That's what I did (hence the 3 Tremendous Fires and the Stealth Birds), and for me it's working great. This game is not about winning or losing; rather, it's about helping other people and becoming the best dielist you can be. So please, please, try to make this YGO universe a better place to duel. Do your part and join in on the discussion, make your voice heard, and maybe that combo that you created will make it to the world championships, with you at the front.
