Modifications to the Dragon's Roar Structure Deck--- Chaosmech ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: "chaosmech@juno.com" Date: Fri, 18 Mar 2005 16:28:19 GMT Modifications to the Dragon’s Roar Structure deck. Hey, it’s Chaosmech here again. I bought the Dragon Structure deck about a week ago, and I immediately saw some problems with it. Here’s how I altered it. The former decklist Monsters: 14 Armed Dragon LV3 x2 Armed Dragon LV5 x2 Masked Dragon x3 Luster Dragon x2 Twin-headed Behemoth x1 Red-Eyes B. Chick x1 Red-Eyes B. Dragon x1 Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon x1 Element Dragon x1 Spells: 16 Swords of Revealing Light x1 Snatch Steal x1 Creature Swap x2 Nobleman of Crossout x2 Graveyard in the Fourth Dimension x1 Pot of Greed x1 Mystical Space Typhoon x1 Stamping Destruction x3 Heavy Storm x1 Reload x2 Premature Burial x1 Traps: 10 Interdimensional Matter Transporter x2 Call of the Haunted x1 Reckless Greed x1 Dragon’s Rage x2 Ceasefire x1 The Dragon’s Bead x1 Trap Jammer x1 Curse of Anubis x1 All right, first of all, let’s take a look at the monsters. Unless you have 3 Inferno Fire Blasts, and more Red-eyes B. Chick, the untimely drawing of Red-eyes Black and Red-Eyes Darkness will just frustrate the heck out of you. So… -1 Red-eyes B. Chick -1 Red-eyes B. Dragon -1 Red-eyes Darkness Dragon Furthermore, Element Dragon is terrible. Unless you have Horus the Black Flame Dragon for Dragon/Fire support, this thing ends up getting stomped on by higher ATK monsters. Therefore, take it out. -1 Element Dragon That’s it so far for the monsters. Now let’s take a look at the traps. Interdimensional Matter Transporter is useless unless you’re trying to protect an Armed Dragon LV3 for a turn so it can morph into LV5. And in this case, Waboku is infinitely better for that. So… -2 Interdimensional Matter Transporter +2 Waboku Furthermore, adding a Mirage Dragon will eliminate the need for a Trap Jammer. -1 Trap jammer +1 Mirage Dragon With Mirage Dragon, most of the traps that designate a target will not be a problem, so Dragon’s Bead can come out. I would replace it with a Mirror Force or a Magic Cylinder, or if you have it, a Ring of Destruction. -1 Dragon’s Bead +1 Mirror Force/Magic Cylinder/Ring of Destruction Quite frankly, Curse of Anubis is useless unless combo’d with a trap card from LOD. It’s called… Burst Breath TRAP Offer 1 Dragon-type monster on your side of the field as a tribute to destroy all face-up monsters on the field whose DEF is equal to or lower than the ATK of the offered monster. Burst Breath acts as a bit of Dark Hole, but requires a tribute. Sounds costly? Use it when your dragon would have been destroyed anyway. This makes it easier on you. Better than Interdimensional Matter Transporter in most respects. But with Curse of Anubis, all face-up effect monsters on the field are nuked. +1 Burst Breath 2 Spear Dragons will almost eliminate the need for Dragon’s rage. So… -2 Dragon’s Rage +2 Spear Dragon Now for the spells. Take out Graveyard in the Fourth Dimension, unless you’re planning to add Horus LV 4, 6, and 8, along with Level Up! support. -1 Graveyard in the 4th Dimension Take out also both Reloads. They are inferior even to Card Destruction because they increase the deck size, and you have the possibility to draw the very same stuff you just put back. Add a Graceful Charity instead. Add a Hammer Shot, Fissure, or Smashing Ground for some destruction support. -2 Reload +1 Graceful Charity +1 Fissure/Smashing Ground/Hammer Shot Remove one of the Stamping Destructions and add a Giant Trunade for some fun. -1 Stamping Destruction +1 Giant Trunade All right, that’s it for removal. Let’s take a look at our deficit -1 Red-eyes B. Chick -1 Red-eyes B. Dragon -1 Red-eyes Darkness Dragon -1 Element Dragon Use these four spots to add some Dragon dwelling in the Cave. These babies can be special summoned into DEF mode by masked Dragon if you need some quick defense. I add two +2 Dragon Dwelling in the Cave Then, for some more defense of life points, add three Troop Dragon. +3 Troop Dragon Total Cards: 41 Here’s how the deck looks now. Monsters: 18 Armed Dragon LV3 x2 Armed Dragon LV5 x2 The Dragon Dwelling in the Cave x2 Troop Dragon x3 Masked Dragon x3 Twin-headed Behemoth x1 Luster Dragon x2 Spear Dragon x2 Mirage Dragon x1 Spells: 15 Giant Trunade x1 Heavy Storm x1 Stamping Destruction x2 Graceful Charity x1 Pot of Greed x1 Fissure/Smashing Ground/Hammer Shot x1 Premature Burial x1 Swords of Revealing Light x1 Mystical Space Typhoon x1 Nobleman of Crossout x2 Snatch Steal x1 Creature Swap x2 Traps: 8 Reckless Greed x1 Burst Breath x1 Magic Cylinder/Mirror Force/Ring of Destruction x1 Call of the haunted x1 Ceasefire x1 Curse of Anubis x1 Waboku x2 There it is, the improved, generic dragon deck. Play around with themes, like Dark Paladin, Blue-eyes, Red-eyes, Horus, or Tyrant Dragon. The important thing is to have good synergy. Keep it cool, y’all Chaosmech e-mail me at chaosmech@juno.com
