"Alex Augunas" Duel Monsters Monster Look Ats GSun253926337@msn.com Artical #5 - The Sorceror of Dark Magic Sorry if it looks like I'm mass-producing these articals, truth be told the past three of them have been done since November, I just didn't have the time to send them in (plus I had to update them a little:) ) WARNNING! THIS ARTICAL CONTAINS BAD PUNS! IF YOU CANNOT APRECIATE BAD JOKES, THEN TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER, AND RUN AWAY SCREAMING Anyway . . . . . Wow. This was my very first request! : ). It was requested by Ian Baylis. And what a choice. I've actually had experience with this card! He has skills. Jinzo skills. Well, maybe Jinzo's hat's skills without the whole, "Remove Jinzo from the field if this card leaves the field,". Ok, he's nothing like Jinzo. Closer to Horus Lvl 8 for Spell Cards. The Sorcercor of Dark Magic DARK Spellcaster 3200 ATK/ 2800 DEF This card cannot be normal summoned or set. This card can only be special summoned by sacrificing 2 level 6 or higher spellcaster-type monsters. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, you can negate the activation of a trap card and destroy it. I won't lie. This guy is a double-edged sword, rod thingy. He negates ALL trap cards [except Counter Traps -- LT]! Activation. That means he can't stop that Call of the Haunted your opponent activated last turn. He can't stop a Crush Card (Whenever UD decided to grace us with it's presence) that activated last turn. (I suppose it would be unlikely you could summon him then, but there is a very narrow possibility.) I'm not exactly sure, but I believe he's a nomi monster, meaning you can't summon him in any way except what's printed on the card. If someone would like to clarify that, please E-mail me [Yes, he IS a nomi monster -- LT]. But what I DO know is that negating your selected traps is quite refreshing, enjoyable, and all together cruel and unusual to your opponent. Alas, the majority of non-banned cards have their drawbacks, and this card's drawback hurts him greatly. I run a Dark Magician deck if no one remembered, so I know a little bit about him (hopefully). Most people think 'Hey! 2 High-Leveled Spellcasters? Dark Magician, you're not just Summon Skull's doormat after all!". In reality, I strongly suggest you STAY AWAY from this card in a serious Dark Magician Deck. Dumping 2 of your highly prized Dark Magicians, or even Dark Magician Girl often isn't worth the great drop in field presence. You've done your opponent's work for them and killed them off, possibly saving a card they might have had to dump for Tribe's effect. This doesn't mean it's a terrible card. In other words, his downfall is you kill two monsters who like have a higher total attack power then he does, the problem with most tribute monsters. When I've played him, I would only use the "Magical Scientist' Method. Like Scientist can't do enough! Simply summon your scientist. Have him whip up a couple sandwitches (ban pun) and serve them to your Sorcerer (another bad pun). In my book, that's the most effective way to summon him. If you want to play him in a Dark Magician deck because "Yugi Does!", then be my guest, but I'd recommend him in a deck that didn't already have many, many, MANY tribute monsters. A buddy of mine uses him in a darkness deck. Slapping him into a Scientist FTK deck could work, so could creating a brand-new kind of scientist deck. (If you do, send it in and I'll post it) In short, I love this guy's art. Like his effect. Hate the cost. But he's worth it if you use him correctly. Well, it's done. Over. Completed. Keep asking me for reviews, remember, I'm accepting trap cards which you'll notice in the next article. I don't know when I'll start Spell cards. Most people just aren't lenient with Spell cards. They have to possess game-breaking effects where I duel, at least! - Adios!
