An archetype emerges-Yokiano ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: rsturkey@webtv.net (The Guy Thats Talking) Date: Fri, 4 Feb 2005 17:45:08 -0800 Hello to all! It's me, Yokiano here to give you my first tip ever, an analysis of the Blue Eyes White Dragon deck-type. Dragon Decks have been emerging around my area, yet no one seems to be paying any attention to the powerhouse that is the BEWD, the first monster ever to achieve that high of an attack score. I'll be giving you an in-depth look at how the deck should function, along with a sample deck at the end of the article. Lets get this started... First up is the main element of the deck, the Blue Eyes White Dragon. With stats of 3000/2500, BEWD is almost never going to die in battle (barring a well-timed attack from a BLS). With this card as a wrecking ball on your side of the field, your opponent will pretty much be forced to utilize some of their monster removal, which they may not have at the time. Plus you gotta give this guy credit for what he does. After 3 direct attacks, u win. The only other commonly used monster with stats to match these is the BLS with his built-in removal effect, so why shouldn't we give our old dragon friend his own removal effect? Burst Stream of Destruction: That was a nice segue into this part of the article, Blusie's own form of monster removal, and holy crap is it potent! When the BEWD himself is on the field Burst Sream acts like an insta-Raigeki in a Format that is terribly lacking in mass removal. With this card to support him, Senor Blue Eyes is a Brick duh, duh, duh, duh House! Ishould be ashamed of myself fro even thinking about writing that last line... Last in our discussion of BEWD's specialized support are the cards that allow an easier method of summoning for this two-tribute beast. Paladin of White Dragon is a nice little Ritual which negates effects of any face-down destroyed by him in battle. This helps in clearing away face-down threats, preparing you for the arrival of your beast. Kaiser Seahorse also aids in this, letting you treat him as two-trib monster for your high level Light mon. Lastly, a brief overview of a yet to be released card. Kaibaman. This card acts as a Red Eyes Black Chick for BEWD, allowing you to summon him on the first turn. Now that all of his card specific support is out of the way, we can begin to construct the Blue Eyes Deck. Sorry for the sloppy format, I hope to get better at this as I continue to write more tips. MONSTERS TO BE USED:17 Blue Eyes White Dragon x3 Luster Dragon x3 SpearDragon x3 Kaibaman/Kaiser Seahorse x2 Mirage Dragon x2 Paladin of White Dragon x1 Cyber Jar x1 Tribe-Infecting Virus x1 Sinister Serpent x1 17 monsters seems to be ideal for this deck. Though this is rather Tribute heavy, Kaibaman/Kaiser and Paladin of White Dragon are there to ensure you will get your Blue-Eyes out. Any skilled player who looks at this list will most likely criticize me for the 3 Lusters, but they are there for a reason, which will be seen soon. Mirage Dragons are there to protect your BEWD from Sakuretsu Armor, Ring, Cylinder, and other cards of that type that could prove a hindrance to your rampart destruction :). Right now, I would basically be lying if I said Sinister is there for a very specific reason other than for field presence and Tribe. Cyber provides much needed speed to this deck, while Tribe helps to clear the field. MAGIC:16 Stamping Destruction x3 Burst Stream of Destruction x2 Scapegoat x2 Enemy controller x2 Pot of Greed x1 Painful Choice x1 Change of Heart x1 Snatch Steal x1 Premature Burial x1 Heavy Storm x1 Mystical Space Typhoon x1 Now this is the part that puzzles me. Painful and Pot are obvious choices, Goats provide protection and field presence, Enemy Controllers allow u to maximize you goat use, Stamping Destruction is just too damn good not to use, and the rest are no brainers. However, I would LOVE to see how Super Rejuvination would work in this deck since you will be tribbing alot for your BEWD. TRAPS:7 Sakuretsu Armour x2 Soul Ressurection x2 Call of the Haunted x1 Ring of Destruction x1 Dragon's Rage x1 See why we need 3 Lusters now? Those Soul Ressurections would be dead draws more times than not with only BEWD to be revived. But thanks to the Lusters, we now have more targets for this very underrated card. Sakuretsu = "attack my goat and pay with your life!" Call for more recursion, Ring for, well, destructon, and I'm sorry JAELove, I know you wrote that with 3 Spears, you dont need Dragon's Rage, but I just couldn't pass up the chance of a Trampling BEWD =P Well, there it is, with all of the ways to get BEWD out, plus 4 different forms of recursion, Burst Stream should work out well not to mention you will be running over your opponent with the horrible strength of Blue Eyes. My main concern with this deck is it's lack of Swords. There will simply be times when your not drawing what u need, and those three turns will really come in handy. Still, I would recomend this deck to those of you who will be going through withdrawls for a 3000 ATK, 2500 DEF monster after the inevitable banning of BLS (I hate u for this UpperDeck...).
