Casual Gravekeeper Deck Idea- Lance ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: Janet031@aol.com Date: Thu, 21 Apr 2005 23:40:52 EDT Hi peoples! I've used Pojo's helpful site for about a year now, so I feel that they deserve something from me. Now, onto what you came here for: the casual Gravekeeper deck. Let me first off start by saying that I do not get to duel regularly against many other people(I've only got about 2 friends who have yet to sell their decks off), so I'm not quite sure of what kinds of metagames there are now. I was browsing through my collection earlier this week, and took notice of the Sphinx cards. Realizing that this is a fun new opportunity which I have not tried yet, I came up with a deck which I believe to be fun, and at the same time somewhat powerful if you can get the right cards. I will list the pros and cons of this deck at the bottom of the page, along with my screen name for comments or questions. Monsters Levels 1-4(order of attack)-13 Cat of Ill Omen x2 Cyber Jar Gravekeepers Spy x3 Gravekeepers Spear Soldier x3 Gravekeepers Assailant x3 Tribe Infecting Virus Monsters Levels 5 and up-5 Andro Sphinx x2 Sphinx Teleia x2 Theinin the Great Sphinx Spells-(Order of rarity)16 Giant Trunade x2 My Body as a Shield x2 Smashing Ground x3 Terraforming x2 Pot of Greed Graceful Charity Heavy Storm Necrovalley x3 Swords of Revealing Light Traps-6 Pyramid of Light x2 Waboku x3 Ring of Destruction Pros- 1. Summoning a 2500 or 3000 attacker for a relatively low 500 lifepoints can be a strong wall if needed, plus put some pressure on your opponent. 2. Necrovalley will limit access to the graveyard, removing options such as Call of the Haunted, Chaos monsters, and others from your opponent. 3. The Gravekeeper family is a dangerous threat, being that Assailant and Spear Soldier hit the field with 2000 attack points when Necrovalley is active. 4. The Assailant will help against Scapegoats, Spirit Reapers, and high attacking monsters. 5. The Spear Soldier's trample effect will also wreck havoc upon your opponents defensive monsters. Cons- 1. Both sides of this deck need to combo in order to work effectively. What I mean by that is that the Gravekeepers have to have Necrovalley, and the Sphinxs have to have Pyramid in order to gain the advantage. 2. The Andro and Telia Sphinx are S-L-O-W. 3. Theinin's effect can only be used the turn he hits the field(good thing he can attack!). 4. Don't expect Andro and Telia's effect with subtracting 1/2 the monsters attack or defence from your opponents life points to benefit you very much. They are better off being used for keeping your opponent at bay with a high attacker for a reasonably low price. Reasons for Certain cards -Cat of Ill Omen- Helps to thin deck out, and helps speed up getting the Sphinxs to the field. -Giant Trunade-Helpful for clearing opponents side of the field, as well as removing Pyramid of Light to summon Theinin(Pyramid does not have to be destroyed, just removed from the field if I remember correctly). -My Body as a Shield- As this is still a casual deck, it is fun to use cards not normally used. This card will save your Sphinxs once they hit the field(as long as your opponent doesn't have a Magic Jammer or something else to negate Spells cards). -Waboku- I run this over Scapegoats because Scapegoats only clog the field in this deck. The Sphinx need to be able to get both on the field if possible, and also this will save your Gravekeepers should your opponent destroy Necrovalley. Cards to Consider Side-Decking Magic Cylinder Bottomless Trap Hole Fissure Book of Moon Exiled Force Snatch Steal Megamorph Berserk Gorilla Nobleman of Crossout Rite of Spirit Enraged Battle Ox This is about all I have for this deck for now. I stopped collecting cards after IOC, so I'm not quite sure about any of the newer commons or rares from the last few packs. However, if you can get this deck to work right for you, more power to you! If you have any comments, rants, questions, or opinions on this deck, email me at Mechademonslayer@yahoo.com.
