a good deck is like a baseball team " ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: "Tammy Theriot" Date: Fri, 15 Apr 2005 23:04:01 -0500 Posted april 15 2005 by blastmagician_9122 hello fellow pojo-ers out there. I have been visiting this site for quite awhile now and I thought it was about time to contribute to the success of this site. today I am going to describe to you the process I go through when building decks and give you an example of a deck I made through this process. through the 2.5 years I've been playing, I've found it good to always build your deck like a baseball team, in that you have many types of players and equipment. you can go by a simple set of initials if you want, though. H, F, E, P, D, F, M. they are as follows: H: heavy hitters: this includes tribute monsters and/ or beatsticks. they give you an advantage to your opponent when it comes to dealing damage. they can also carry good effects. F:fielders: the name explains it. this part of the team includes field control and prenegation. they are nessecary in order to gain an edge over your opponent and to maintain the *field*. E: equipment: this is by far the most important section. this includessupport cards for the theme you are going off of, and searchers to pull out either your feilder or heavy hitters or draft picks. P:Pinch hitters: this includes defense and life point control. it is used to pull you out of tight spots and to wear down your opponents offense. D: draft picks: this includes staples. 'nuff said. F: Fillers: this includes any card that normally wouldn't make the cut but there happens to be enough space for it in the deck. M: mid- game rotation: this is the side deck. you need it to respond to opposing threats and other things your opponent throws at you. as you can see, there are many parts of a baseball team that make it a success or failure. the different types of cards should have a flow that allows it speed and control. let's say you wanted to construct a trample deck using black tyranno( attacks directly when the only cards your opponent has are fd defense monsters. well use the baseball method to construct a well composed deck. Heavy hitters: black tyranno obviously dark tryceratops to give added trample and add to the dinosaur theme. jinzo perhaps to give field control( feilders category as well which is why it is such a good card) Feilders: tribe infecting virus to get rid of those pesky BLS's. mystic swordsman LV2 hammer shot to kill the face up ones ring of destruction to gid rid of the face up ones heavy storm/ giant trunade to get rid of the M/T. tornado bird to get rid of M/T. magician of faith Equipment: swords of concealing light (DEFINITELY a must in a trample deck) ultra evolution pill to level up the reptiles into cool dinosaurs shadow slayer to add to trample stuff fairy meteor crush/ big bang shot/ etc. you get it Draft picks: pot of greed graceful charity magic cylinder card destruction( I like it your choice) swords of revealing light reload( again, personal preference) pinch hitters: waboku swords of revealing light scapegoat sakuretsu armor fillers: balloon lizard cobra jar gagagigo cobraman sasuki other reptile stuff so you can fully utilize ultra evolution pill. mid game: ill let you decide on the side deck. so here's what we got: Monsters(22) black tyranno 3 dark tryceratops 2 jinzo shadowslayer 3 gagagigo 3 cobra jar balloon lizard 2 mystic swordsman lv 2 2 tribe infecting virus tornado bird 2 magician of faith 2 spell(16) swords of concealing light 3 giant trunade 2 pot of greed ultra evolution pill 2 card destruction reload graceful charity fairy meteor crush scapegoat smashing ground heavy storm swords of revealing light trap( 5) waboku 2 sakuretsu 1 magic cylinder ring of destruction so there you go!!! : ) me@msn.com
