Are Harpies REALLY that bad? by Sean ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: seanslcars@comcast.net Date: Wed, 13 Apr 2005 07:50:35 +0000 Hey Sean’s back with a new round of articles. Hope you enjoy them, and don’t forget to check out www.seanzhomepage.freeservers.com and go to the first custom page for my yugioh stuff. This is in response to an article posted by Battyman saying that Harpies suck. Well, I agree with him on that point. Harpies DO suck. Why? Because of the line on every Harpie card out there. More specifically, "This card’s name is treated as Harpie Lady". So you can’t run three copies of Harpie Lady 1, 2, 3, and Cyber Harpie. If you could, you could at least make a reasonably OK deck. It still wouldn’t win you the regionals, but if you got a duelist girlfriend you could try to get her to play it. Kinda like a really, seriously lame yugioh version of lingerie. Whatever. Anyway, with the restriction on only three Harpies per deck, nothing good will come out of a Harpie deck, so don’t bother. However, what you could do is make a WIND/beatdwon deck that incorporates Harpies. Here’s my prototype for that deck. Monsters Level 5+: 2 Harpie Lady Sisters Jinzo Monsters Level 4-: 17 Cyber Harpie Lady Cyber Harpie Lady Harpie Lady #1 Harpie’s Brother Harpie’s Brother Harpie’s Brother Spear Dragon Spear Dragon Spear Dragon Slate Warrior Slate Warrior Slate Warrior Garuda the Wind Spirit Garuda the Wind Spirit Sinister Serpent Cyber Jar Tribe-Infecting Virus Spells: 15 Harpie’s Hunting Ground Rising Air Current Rising Air Current Elegant Egotist Elegant Egotist Triangle Ecstasy Spark Pot of Greed Graceful Charity Nobleman of Crossout Mystical Space Typhoon Heavy Storm Premature Burial Snatch Steal Delinquent Duo Lightning Vortex Traps: 6 Magic Cylinder Ring of Destruction Mirror Force Call of the Haunted Torrential Tribute Ceasefire You’ve got a couple of strengths here. Spear Dragon and Slate Warrior both provide some 1900 power with nice effects that can further hurt your opponent. The Cyber Harpies and Harpies Brother are powerful 1800 beatsticks to keep the Harpie theme, and Harpie 1 provides further powerups. Rising Air Currents will further increase the power. Harpies Hunting ground will be like a continuous MST that can be easily triggered. Garuda and Elegant Egotist provide swarming to further support the beating. The rest is basic staples. You can’t get that creative with beatdowns. By the way, while I’m at it I thought I’d put together a prototype of what I would consider the worst deck possible. Monsters Level 5+: 40 Gate Guardian Gate Guardian Gate Guardian Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon Vampire Genesis Vampire Genesis Vampire Genesis Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon Launcher Spider Launcher Spider Launcher Spider Metal Armored Bug Metal Armored Bug Metal Armored Bug Mazera Deville Mazera Deville Mazera Deville Gogiga Gagagigo Gogiga Gagagigo Gogiga Gagagigo Red-Eyes Black Dragon Red-Eyes Black Dragon Red-Eyes Black Dragon Blue-Eyes White Dragon Blue-Eyes White Dragon Blue-Eyes White Dragon Dark Magician Dark Magician Dark Magician Dark Magician Knight Dark Magician Knight Dark Magician Knight Valkyrion the Magna Warrior Valkyrion the Magna Warrior Valkyrion the Magna Warrior Harpie’s Pet Dragon Monsters Level 4-: None Spells: None Traps: None I’ll pay my entire savings account to the person who can beat me using this deck. Well that’s it for now. Harpies do suck, but if you want to take a crack at it for fun, knock yourselves out. Comments? Questions?
