Big Wave Small Wave - Kaan ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: Kaine Reto Date: Mon, 4 Apr 2005 19:47:28 -0400 (EDT) Man, I was just looking through the CotD list and I just finished reading the review for Big Wave Small Wave, and I'm surprised at some of the low ratings for this card. The things I'm reading... sad. It's easy to say that the ONE Torrential your opponent has will ruin everything. Of course, Torrential will ruin everything if you just summon a weak Sinister in attack position, they know what you're going to do. However if you summon a T-Virus, Mother Grizzly, or ALO powered Gagagigo, they'll probably Torrential after that before you play BWSW. And they will DEFINITELY Torrential if you're swarming (unless they know what you're planning), so Torrential shouldn't be a problem if you play your cards right. And yes, you will be losing your hand advantage BIG TIME, but usually this is a game-ending card if you're willing to empty your hand. What idiot would use this when their opponent has 3 face-down S/T cards that could very possibly be Mirror Force, Torrential, or Bottomless Trap Hole. But to tell you the truth, there is only one worth-while tribute monsters to summon with this card, Levia-Dragon. But that doesn't make it useless, you can always destroy that Peguin Soldier for a Mermaid Knight then still have your summon. And there are a few strategies that work well with this card too. As Otaku said in his review with the Transplant-Scapegoat combo would work well. But that's too out of the way to put Transplant in a Water Deck. Do you REALLY want to put a one use Continuous Trap card in your deck? But if you want to try to put Transplant in your deck, might as well put Element Soldier/Valkyrie/Magician in there too, it will make it seem that your Transplant is doing something. A better combo would probably to use Lekunga and remove monsters for tokens. Fiber Jar is out so most player's monsters are rotting in the graveyard, hoping you will bring them back with the something like Call of the Haunted. This card isn't only for upgrading your monsters, you can downgrade them as well. Even if 2 Giga Gagagigo with ALO, you won't do anything against your opponent's unprotected Spirit Reaper, but 2 Amphibious Bugroth Mk-3 will. And this card isn't just for a swift attack. Remember, Catapult Turtle is a Water monster too. Do a massive attack with your basic Water monsters like Amphibious Bugroth Mk-3 and Mermaid Knight. Break out BWSW and summon your Catapult Turtle and friends. Launch and that should be game. Okay let's put this in perspective with an example: I have... 7200LP Hand - Catapult Turtle, BWSW, Mother Grizzly, Star Boy, Lekunga S/T - An active ALO, active Swords of Revealing Light (turn 2) Monsters - Mermaid Knight and Star Boy Graveyard - Pot of Greed, Graceful Charity, Maiden of the Aqua, Mother Grizzly, Salvage Opponent has... 5600LP Hand - Three cards S/T - One face down, active Premature Burial Monsters - A Jinzo(PB), defence position Mystic Tomato, a facedown Graveyard - Graceful Charity, Night Assailant, Mystic Tomato, Mystic Tomato ORDER OF PLAY SO FAR - Draw (me) > Pot of Greed (activate) > Graceful Charity (activate - dump: Maiden of the Aqua + Star Boy) > ALO (activate) > Mother Grizzly (ATK pos) > Draw (opponent) > S/T (facedown) > S/T (facedown) > Graceful Charity (activate - dump: Jinzo + Night Assailant) > Premature Burial (activate - target: Jinzo) > Mystic Tomato (ATK pos) > ATTACK (Jinzo--->Mother Grizzly) > CHAIN (Mother Grizzly - target: Mermaid Knight) > Draw (me) > Swords of Revealing Light (activate) > Star Boy (ATK pos) > ATTACK (Mermaid Knight--->Mystic Tomato) > CHAIN (Mystic Tomato - target: Mystic Tomato) > ATTACK (Mermaid Knight--->Mystic Tomato) > CHAIN (Mystic Tomato - target: Mystic Tomato) > DRAW (opponent) > monster(facedown) > Mystic Tomato (Shift: DEF pos) > Draw (me) > ... I summon my Mother Grizzly. Kamakazie into Jinzo to bring out your an Amphibious Bugroth Mk-3. I get him attack for 2200LP and let Star Boy and Mermaid Knight sit there and look pretty. Play BWSW and Summon your Catapult Turle, Star Boy and Lekunga. Remove 4 monsters to Special Summon 2 Lekunga Token. Launch both for 700LP each (1400LP). That leaves him with 2000LP. So I can do 1200LP with Lekunga, 625LP with Star Boy, and 600LP with Catapult Turtle. That's enough. The moral of the story is, open your mind when a seemingly "bad" card comes out, there might be old cards in those binders that go perfectly with it. --------------------------------- Post your free ad now!
