How to Poison your Opponent Hello, hello, I’m Lord Tranorix and this will be my fourth tip on Pojo. Last time I wrote about an overrated card, Mirror Force; this time, I’m going to talk about a severely underrated card called Poison of the Old Man! So, first the effect: MFC-033 Poison of the Old Man (Chemical Tubes) Quickplay “Spell” Card Common Select and activate 1 of the following effects: - Increases your Life Points by 1200 points. - Inflict 800 points of Direct Damage to your opponent’s Life Points. First thing that comes to mind is Dian Keto on steroids mixed with Ookazi on steroids…that’s pretty much correct! You either gain 1200 or deal 800 in DD; this alone makes it one of the best DD cards out there. Now let’s look at some other key points *It’s chainable to M/T removal…that’s a BIG plus. Set it and have your opponent waste a card to lose 800 LP. 1 for 1 card trade; nobody gains card advantage, but you gain LP advantage. Not bad. *It can be activated at basically any time from your hand during your turn; it’s quickplay. What does that mean? Say your opponent uses Drop Off…they just wasted a card and you gained 1200 Life Points! Not bad at all. *It’s obviously great in Scientist decks (that’s why it was created), but it also fits in exceptionally well in any sort of burner and can even be a pretty fun choice for a beatdown/hand d/whatever! An extra 800 is never a bad thing, especially when you don’t sacrifice card advantage to deal it (like you do with Ookazi and other direct damage magic cards like it). One of the greatest things about MFC is the abundance of great commons; Poison of the Old Man is just one of them. I’m running one currently, and I plan to run two when I get a second. So try it out. You may be surprised at how versatile this little QP can be. Contact me at foodman37@excite.com or SadistBalthazar on AIM.
