Subject: Gravekeepers Decks-ogre_of_magic Gravekeepers Unite" Hello there pojo fans. This is one of my first articles I hope u enjoy it. Anyway im here to talk about Gravekeeper Decks, the uses of the cards and create a rough list of essential cards for a GK Deck (from here on in Gravekeeper will be called GK.) Section 1 – Monsters – In the Pharaonic Guardian Expansion 9 Monsters with the word "Gravekeeper’s" in their name were released – here I will list All of them and give u their uses. (All of the Gravekeepers were commons in PGD except Chief who was SR and Watcher who was Rare) Gravekeeper’s Spy: ATK/1200 DEF/2000 Dark/Spellcaster 4 Stars Effect: FLIP: Select 1 monster that includes "Gravekeeper's" in its card name with an ATK of 1500 or less from your Deck and Special Summon it in face-up Attack or Defense Position. The Deck is then shuffled. This is one of the best GKs without a doubt. When flipped she can Special Summon ANY Gravekeeper to the field except the chief. This card is for swarmage. It combos well if all the other GKs. 2 are essential are in any GK deck, but I would recommend 3. Yes it’s a Flip Effect so it falls prey to Sasuke and Crossout…………but I doubt that will happen to all three of them. With Necrovalley out this card has 2500 DEF which can block most things in this metagame. Its useful even after flipped. After u do use the effect u can tribute it for 700 using GK Cannoholder. Gravekeeper’s Assailant: ATK/1500 DEF/1500 Dark/Spellcaster 4 Stars Effect: You can activate this card’s effect only when "Necrovalley" is active on the field. When this card attacks, you can change the battle position of 1 face-up monster on your opponent’s side of the field. A great card. With Necrovalley it has a base ATK of 2000 WHOHHOOO!!! When it attacks u can change the mode of an opponent’s monster. It combos great with GK Spear Soldier and is also great by it self. I’d recommend 2-3 in any GK Deck. Gravekeeper’s Spear Soldier ATK/1500 DEF/1000 Dark/Spellcaster 4 Stars Effect: When this card attacks with an ATK that is higher than the DEF of your opponent’s Defense Position monster, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent’s Life Points. A great GK. Works well with Assailant. Has a Fairy-Meteor Crush effect. Just plain dirty. ATK with Assailant and switch the battle position of one of ur opponent’s monsters. Then ATK with Spear Soldier. Has 2000 ATK with Necrovalley. Can u say "BEATSTICK???" Gravekeeper’s Chief ATK/1900 DEF/1200 Dark/Spellcaster 5 Stars Effect: You can have only 1 face-up "Gravekeeper’s Chief" on your side of the field at any time. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, your Graveyard is not affected by "Necrovalley". When you Tribute Summon this monster, you can Special Summon 1 monster that includes "Gravekeeper’s" in its card name from your Graveyard Run 2 in every GK Deck got it RUN 2 OK????? RUN 2. Because Necrovalley negates Graveyard effects this card is essential. Some peeps may say its horrible because u have to tribute for it. READ Its EFFECT. When u Tribute a Monster to bring this out u can Special Summon ANOTHER GK from ur Graveyard. Ur not really getting rid of a monster ur playing chief and getting a replacement for ur other monster. Gravekeeper’s Cannonholder ATK/1400 DEF/1200 Dark/Spellcaster 4 Stars Effect: Offer 1 monster that includes "Gravekeeper’s" in its card name on your side of the field as a tribute to inflict 700 points of Direct Damage to your opponent’s Life Points. However, you cannot offer this card or another "Gravekeeper’s Cannonholder" with this card’s effect. Monsters used for a Tribute Summon or that are offered as Tributes due to other cards’ effects are excluded. This is a decent GK…….It’s a Cannon Soldier with 200 extra damage that can’t tribute itself and can only tribute GKs. There is a killer combo with GK Curse and this card. U can tribute them a spy whose effect has been used or some of the useless GKs (Vassal, Watcher). I wouldn’t run more then one in a deck unless ur building a Direct Damage GK deck with this and Curse…………… With Necrovalley on the field this card has 1900 ATK which is notable. Gravekeeper’s Curse ATK/800 DEF.800 Dark/Spellcaster 3 Stars Effect: When this card is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned, or Special Summoned inflict 500 points of Direct Damage to your opponent’s Life Points Decent when comboed with Cannonholder, summon tribute for a total of 1300 or summon, tribute for chief, bring back a second curse tribute for 700……..etc..etc….. I’d only run 2 max, 3 if your deck is GK burn. Gravekeeper’s Guard ATK/1000 DEF/1900 Dark/Spellcaster 4 Stars Effect:: FLIP: Select 1 Monster Card on your opponent’s side of the field (regardless of position) and return it to its owner’s hand. Interesting………a high defense Hane-Hane. 2400 with Necrovalley. Very good if used the right way. I wouldn’t run more than 1 though….. Gravekeeper’s Watcher ATK/1000 DEF/1000 Dark/Spellcaster 4 Stars Effect: When your opponent activates a card that includes the effect of making your opponent discard from his/her hand (this does not include the cost of discarding cards), you can activate this card by discarding this card from your hand to the Graveyard. Negate the activation and effect of the card and destroy it. This card is pointless. Run ZERO in every deck OK? ZERO. It may have uses once in a blue moon but its not worth a spot in ur deck. You can do a lot better. Its ONLY use is to tribute it with Cannoholder. Even with Necrovalley its only 1500 ATK! Please stay away from this one. Gravekeeper’s Vassal ATK/700 DEF/500 Dark/Spellcaster 3 Stars Effect: The Battle Damage this card inflicts to your opponent's Life Points is treated as the Effect Damage of this card. Horrible…..Just plain horrible. His effect basically means that say u beef it up to over 2000 ATK and ATK ur opponent directly. They activate Nutrient Z…….it don’t work cuz the Battle Damage is now Effect Damage…….it also means that ur opponent can use Trap of Board Eraser and Barrel Behind the Door on it. Even with Necrovalley its only at 1200……..stay away from it. You could tribute it with Cannonholder but that’s it. Those are all the GK Monsters. There are a few "GK Support" monsters currently out. So here’s some tech cards for a GK Deck: Charm of Shabti (Common in PGD) ATK/0 DEF/0 Earth/Rock 1 Star Effect: Discard this card from your hand to the Graveyard to make the damage inflicted to monsters that include "Gravekeeper’s" in their card name 0 until the End Phase of the current turn. However, the damage to your Life Points is calculated normally. Might have some uses but I wouldn’t run more than one in a deck…….. An Owl of Luck (Common in PGD) ATK/300 DEF/200 Wind/Winged Beast 2 Stars Effect: FLIP: Select 1 Field Magic Card from your Deck and place it on top of your Deck. If "Necrovalley" is active on the field, you can add the selected card to your hand. Could have some uses. Not bad but not that good either A Cat of Ill Omen (Common in PGD) ATK/500 DEF/300 Dark/Beast 2 Stars Effect: FLIP: Select 1 Trap Card from your Deck and place it on top of your Deck. If "Necrovalley" is active on the field, you can add the selected card to your hand. Could help search for Rite of Spirt………but that’s about it Mystic Tomato (Rare in MRL) ATK/1400 DEF/1100 Dark/Plant 4 Stars Effect: When this card is sent to the Graveyard as a result of battle, you may select 1 DARK monster with and ATK of 1500 or less from your Deck and Special Summon it to the field in face-up Attack Position (no Tribute is required for monsters of Level 5 or higher). The Deck is then shuffled. GREAT!! Is pretty much another GK Spy but it adds to ur hand and has to be killed to activate. Can summon ANY GK (except Chief) or a Witch or Sangan………… Witch of the Black Forest (Rare in MRD, Common in SDP) ATK/1100 DEF/1200 Dark/Spellcaster 4 Stars Effect: When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, search your deck for a monster with a DEF of 1500 or less and add it to your hand. Your Deck is then shuffled. Searches for any GK, Tomato, Owl, Cat, Charm………….. Sangan (Rare in MRD, Common in SDJ) ATK/1000 DEF/700 Dark/Fiend 3 Stars Effect: When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, search your deck for a monster with an ATK of 1500 or less and add it to your hand. Your Deck is then shuffled. Can search for anything Witch can except Chief………….. Exiled Force (SR in LOD) ATK/1000 DEF/1000 Earth/Warrior 4 Stars Effect: Offer this face-up card as a tribute to destroy one monster on the field. Monsters offered for a Tribute Summon or offered as Tributes due to other card’s effects are excluded. Monster Removal……..Your gonna have to use this instead of Tribe-Infecting Virus since ALL the GKs are Spellcasters……… Breaker the Magical Warrior (UR in MFC) ATK/1600 DEF/1000 Dark/Spellcaster 4 Stars Effect: When this card is successfully Normal Summoned, put 1 Spell Counter on it (max. 1). Increase the ATK of this monster by 300 points for each Spell Counter on this card. Also you can remove 1 Spell Counter from this card to destroy 1 Spell Card or Trap Card on the field. Given…..It’s just plain good……. Gemini Elf/Skilled Dark Magician/MFC Luster Dragon (SCR in LON, SR in MFC, UR in MFC) Gravekeeper Decks need some more sheer power……..these guys give it. I’d just use one. Gemini if possible cuz it can be searched by witch or Luster cuz it Dragon and almost all the monsters in this deck are spellcasters. Section 2 – Magic/Spell Cards Here I will list the Spell Cards that work well with GK Decks Necrovalley (SR in PGD) Field Spell Effect: As long as this card remains face-up on the Field, all effects of Magic, Trap, and/or Effect Monster Cards that involve Graveyards are negated and neither player can remove cards in the Graveyards from play. In addition, increase the ATK and DEF of all monsters that includes "Gravekeeper's" in their card name by 500 points. The Heart of the Deck. You need three…….A great card if u can get it to stay on the field……completely blocks off ur opponent’s recursion………and Kycoo’s, Bazoo’s, and Skull Lair’s effects are negated! Cool, Huh? Magic Reflector (Rare in LOD) Normal Spell Effect: Select 1 Magic Card that remains face-up on the field and put 1 counter on it. If the selected card is destroyed, the counter is removed instead of the card being destroyed. It gives Necrovalley a layer of protection……..essential for this Deck… Use at least 2!!! Terraforming (Common in PGD) Normal Spell Effect: Add one Field Magic Card from your Deck into your hand. Your Deck is then shuffled. Necrovalley needs to be on the field so run at least 2 of these Royal Tribute (Common in PGD) Normal Spell Effect: You can only activate this card when "Necrovalley" is face-up on the field. Discard all Monster Cards in both player’s hands to their respective Graveyards. A great Ace in the Hole………….one is good. Gravekeeper’s Servant (Common in MRL) Continuos Spell Effect: When your opponent attacks with a monster they must discard the top card of their deck. If you can keep it on the field it’s a dirty card…………plus it fits the theme ……..kinda….. I think it was called "Gravekeeper’s Familiar in Japan and they changed it to Servant. When they translated PGD I think "Gravekeeper" was something like "Tombkeeper" or Cryptkeeper." I don’t think this card is related to the PGD GKs but I really don’t know. The Staples Raegeki, Harpie’s Feather Duster, Pot of Greed, Change of Heart, and Monster Reborn are all here. Why Monster Reborn? Cuz GK Chief negates Necrovalley’s effect to ur Graveyard so heres your monster back. If u need room it can be taken out. I HATE Graceful Charity personally so I don’t run it. If you want to then go ahead Mystical Space Typhoon I run 2………..3 would be good though Section 3 – Traps There aren’t a lot of good GK Traps but here’s what I use. Rite of Spirit (Common in PGD) Normal Trap Effect: Special Summon one Monster from your Graveyard with "Gravekeeper’s" in its card name to the field in face-up ATK or DEF position. This cards activation and effect are not effected by Necrovalley.
