Subject: Comments on two arch rivals: Jinzo & Mirror Force- Yami-Kun Hello all, it is I, Yami-Kun with my second installment on Pojo.com. After receiving numerous responses to my first rant (all of which were positive as well) I decided to go on to do a second one as well as hopefully doing more. First off I want to thank all of you who emailed me with your input and comments from my last post. If it wasnt for all of you, I doubt I would have produced another submission to Pojo. Well, here goes. This is going to be yet another rant (I know, I can hear some of you out there saying "Will he ever do a tip, or deck idea?") Well yes, I might.. just not right now X3. This isnt so much of a rant, as it's just the view from which I see it. This ties together two submissions I recently read regarding Mirror Force, and Jinzo being released as a Variant Card in the new collectible tins. First off, let us start with Mirror Force. I share the same views expressed by the author of said submission (I shall not use names as at times it can make people feel uncomfortable and can get them bad exposure if what is said is taken the wrong way.) Ok.. back to Mirror Force. It took me forever to finally get a hold of Mirror Force, and it has never left my deck, nor will it ever in the future. Sure, it's biggest rival in the game is Jinzo, which we will also go over a bit later. However, look at the way the game is played currently. Yes, Jinzo has caused many (I'd guess about 85%) duelists to severely cut down the number of Trap cards in their deck. However with that said lets look at one of the upsides to that; "Jinzo has caused many duelists to severely cut down the number of Trap cards in their deck." Yes I repeated that, because not only is it a Con. it is also a Pro. Before Jinzo was released I would always encounter at least 2 7 Tools if not 3 in many duels. Im sure we have all had our share of 7 Tools pop up when we least wanted them to. Now with Jinzo being in many decks in todays game, I have rarely seen a 7 Tools outside of a binder. People simply dont have the room for them, so that helps many traps out all on it's own. Now of course Jinzo on the field can kill your Mirror Force, but the chances of Jinzo being on the field at the same time you have Mirror Force set are fairly low. Plus the summon of Jinzo CAN be negated by certain traps, so he isnt invincible in the least. So I dont see Mirror Force becoming a distant memory like the ill fated Magic Cylinder *sobs* alas poor Magic Cylinder, I knew thee well. Well I dont see it becoming obsolete due to Jinzo, the only thing that I can see in the future and present that would reduce the usefulness of Mirror Force is the fact that in the current game, it is becoming increasingly difficult to have more than 2 monsters on the field at a time, and that goes for you and your opponent. Not many people want to waste Mirror Force on 1 monster, but if you never get the chance to use it on 2 or 3 like we used to be able to, you'll want to use it less and less, eventually being replaced by something a bit more versitile (Waboku for one). Mirror Force shall never be broken, though it may become a bit dusty as the game progresses. Now onto the highly talked about Jinzo/tin combo. Many people have grown angry with the fact that UD released Jinzo as a Variant card, and I can understand to a degree. However, it took me a very long time to get a Jinzo of my own, and as my dueling style changed, his usefulness dropped. I now no longer use the Android Psycho Shocker (which was a much cooler name IMO) because it doesnt fit the needs of my deck. Yes, Jinzo is a very powerful card and at it's first release it was considered by some to be "broken", but with the newer releases we see that statement is no longer true. I personally am not afraid of Jinzo, nor will I ever be. Some of you may not be able to completely see why I made that statement, so I will clarify a bit more. Lets start with Jinzo's Pros: 2400 attack is about standard for a lvl 5-6 monster and it's 1200 def makes it searchable by WotBF. It negates all traps on the field and to a degree, negates the traps in your opponents hand as well. You dont have to worry about Trap Hole, Mirror Force, Magic Cylinder, Ring of Destruction, etc. You can freely attack your opponent without fear of the face down cards in their Magic/Trap field (for the most part). Sounds good eh? Of course it does, thats why he's so popular. Now the Cons: 2400 attack isnt all that special, one of the three Summoned Skulls in my deck could take him out, as could a powered up Zombyra, Goblin Attack Force, or Giant Orc. Jinzo negates Trap cards, effectively making your own card work against you in many situations. Jinzo does nothing to prevent Magic cards which leaves him vulerable to all Monster Removal cards, and with no way to chain any of said Monster Removal cards due to his own effect. Jinzo is also very vulnerable to the few Flip Effect monsters we have to destroy monsters, as well as the Effects that return a card(s) to the owners hand. Lastly, nothing is worse than your opponent destroying your Jinzo, then Reborning him and using your mechanical friend against you. Im sure that what you just read is nothing new to most of you, but even though all that is common knowledge we dont always really examine the Pros and Cons of a card like we should. In my closing opinion I would like to say that releasing Jinzo in a tin was a strategic move by UD and a very good one. If it's easy for all duelists to acquire one of the most sought after cards in the current English game, more people will play, and the challenge will be increased. That means more money for UD, and more duelists for all of us. Thanks again all for the support for my previous rant, Yami-Kun Once again, all hate mail, love mail (which I would enjoy getting now and then >.<), questions and comments can be directed to: ryuujinzer0@hotmail.com (the 0 in zer0 is the number :P )
