Subject: 5 things on how to make you a better duelist and person (opinion)- iViE Hiyo all, card games are card games, for fun, and not your life. If you do nothing but bury yourself in cards all day, go out and do something else. and unless you're a demo team person or a duelist leader who's getting paid for this job, then go do some activity which doesnt just involve playing with pieces of cardboard or sitting in front of a computer. Now, onto some of my rants on the yugioh cardgame: 1. knowing what's in a deck doesn't mean that you're better than your opponent. Same for having really rare cards or staple cards (as in cards that should be in every deck). i've beaten many people who, while cutting my deck, looked through it and told me that it sucked. But what ends up happening? Their deck with all their secret rares and ultra rares lost to mine which has only 1 ultra rare and 1 tin jinzo as the rarest cards in my deck. 2. Sportsmanship people, sportsmanship... just because there's such a thing called mind games and bluffing in the game, its not called CHEATING when you use them constatntly, its quite annoying once in a while, but by NO means is it cheating. i've seen a guy about my age (high schoolish) lose his composure becasue i constantly bluffed and double bluffed. he was one of those people who had all the rare cards and thought he could beat everybody, and, like all those cocky people out there, looked through my deck while cutting, and proclaimed to about 7 or 8 people that were standing around that "my deck sucked like *that place you go to after you die and you've been baaaad...*" his was running a light deck, w/6 staple magic, 5 of the best traps in the games, and a whole horde of other rare cards. i knew i was at a disadvantage, so i had to bluff, and double bluff my way through the duel. He ended up losing becasue he's not much of a strategic person and doesn't know the meaning of bluff. the result of him losing was his yelling to the whole patio that i was a cheater. now, what kind of sportsmanship is that? 3. It IS good to know the deck types out there, it proves to be quite useful once in a while, like during the mall tour, i saw a big fusion pile, my fisrt conclusion, Scientist deck. and i planned accordingly. and it's also good to be aware of all the cards out there also and what they do. finding out combos and pulling them off to people who have no idea what you're doing is really fun. 4. Fun decks. Don't bash them. They're good in their own way. and just because a little kid puts a skull servant in his deck, doesn't mean the kid doesn't deserve respect. it might just be his favorite card, who knows, but a thing to remember is, don't bash, don't convert, and don't explain. if they like the card, let them keep it in their deck, unless they're fine with you messing their deck up. 5. the point of card games is to have fun playing them. I constantly make those fun-yet-not-so-challenging type of decks. gradius(just him and his options, not a full blown machine deck), harpie ladies (not tournament level yet), proxy decks (deck with cards that arent out yet and you want to try them out in your deck, so you use another card a substitute for the card). I've seen so many people complaining about how i sometimes proxy in the card "reverseal of worlds" or as they changed the name in english, "exchange of the spirit." i personally think its a fun card and that there will be decks built around it in the future (i know for a fact,) so what's up with the people who're complaining about it? they'll have to deal with it sooner or later, so why not take a crack at it now? I've also had friends proxy in the exodia pieces to try out how an exodia deck feels like, and i think that's fine as long as you're not going to a tournament with those proxies. taking a card game so seriously is just too immature of a person. the main point is, i'm sick of people taking these card games so seriously. They have to constantly bicker for what they want, and they cry over spilled milk. i think this ends my rant of sorts. got something to say? bashes? hatemail? constructive comments? sned them all to: han_celvic@angelfire.com Vi ____________________________________________________________ Get 25MB of email storage with Lycos Mail Plus!
