Subject: Aqua Smasher - Nick

Well, I delve on into the depths of strategic Yu-gi-oh. In the spirit of the word "depth" I will know go into the making of a Fisherman deck. This deck is a variety of beatdown that is powerful and versatile, for it combines aspects of several strategies. How to make a fisherman deck:

The monsters: Obviously, 7 Colored Fish and Giant Red Seasnake, both 1800/800 water monsters. They both get a bonus from Umi, turning them into Dark Elf's without the effect. Also, put in Island Turtle (1100/2000 Level 4). When making fisher decks many people make the mistake of putting in Aqua Madoor. While it is water, this monster is a Spellcaster. It does not get a bonus from Umi. Island Turtle, on the other hand, does. We also play with the Aqua Spirit. This monster lets you change the mode of any monster during the standby phase (the monster can't change mode) so this is a useful tool for destroying jinzo, SS, or basically anything. With a Umi on the field it becomes a 1800/1400 powerhouse. Also, he is played by a Special Summon, making him excellent for Tributing. Another good tribute monster is Revival Jam. He happens to be water an is essentially immortal. We have the Amphibian beast for pure brute force. With a Umi on the field he becomes a Sanga for one tribute. Also, we have Jinzo. Because you aren't always going to have Umi on the field and HE'S JINZO. And of course, We have the Legendary Fisherman, because he's what the deck's about.

Magic and Trap: Umi, duh. Of course we need that. Also, Tornado Wall, because it's great with Umi. It's Worship to yu-gi-oh. Instead of Axes, we play with Metalmorph. That is because this can be used on a Fisherman with Umi out, while Axe can't. And of course, we will use the normal Restricted magics. You could throw in a Torrential Tribute to keep with the theme. But that is basically it.

That is about it. Water doesn't have very much dirty tricks behind it. That is what makes it a great strategy for beginners, because it is so easy to master. Also, this deck is versatile, because it gets much better in future sets. Eventaully we get the card Atlantis, which has a Umi effect, counts as a Umi, and makes ALL WATER TRIBUTES ONE LESS. YOU CAN PLAY SUIGIN FOR ONE TRIBUTE. Either way, that's about it. Sorry for the short article, but there really isn't much to say. This is Nick, signing off.
