Subject: Notes on suggested Morphing Jar #2/Serpentine Princess/Jowgen the Spiritualist combo - Tiger On the last set of tips posted, a player who called himself "Ded" described this situation: His opponent had Morphing Jar #2 and Serpentine Princess set on the field. He had one monster in defense. On his opponent's turn, his opponent flipped Morphing Jar #2. With Serpentine Princess's effect (it was sent from the field to the deck), his opponent summoned Jowgen the Spiritualist. Now the players shuffled and began to pick up cards from the effect of Morphing Jar #2. The opponent said that because Jowgen prevented special summons, both players had to keep picking up cards without being able to special summon a monster until they both ran out of cards to pick up. Then, the opponent ended his turn and "Ded" apparently lost the duel because he could not draw for his turn. The opponent is INCORRECTLY interpreting the effect of Morphing Jar #2. The card says both players must pick up cards until they have the same number of Monsters that they originally had on the field. THEN, they must special summon those monsters (if they are level 4 or lower) in face down defense position. Any other cards are sent to the graveyard. Meaning any magic, trap, or monsters that cannot be special summoned are sent to the graveyard. But any monster you pick up that you can't special summon STILL COUNTS for satisfying Morphing Jar #2's effect. So if you have one monster out when Morphing Jar #2 is flipped, whenever you pick up your first monster YOU ARE DONE PICKING UP. Some examples: You have one monster out and your opponent flips Morphing Jar #2. You pick up cards until you get a) a level 4 or below monster with no special requirements for summoning (Gemini, Goblin Attack Force, Cyber Jar, etc.) - you special summon him face down and you're done. b) a high level monster like Summoned Skull - you discard Summoned Skull to the graveyard and you're done. c) a monster with special summoning requirements like Rock Spirit - you discard Rock Spirit to the graveyard and you're done. d) a monster that cannot be special summoned like Yata-Garasu - you discard Yata and you're done. etc. etc. etc. You only have to pick up until you get one monster, whether you can actually put that monster on the field or not. Now, in Ded's situation, since Jowgen the Spiritualist is on the field, no matter what monster he picks up, he cannot special summon it. Same for the other guy. But they each must only pick up cards until they have picked up an amount of monsters equivalent to the amount they had on the field when Morphing Jar #2 was flipped. So Ded should not have decked out unless he had no monsters left in his deck (or his last card was his only monster). Also, if Morphing Jar #2 is flipped in battle and destroyed, it does not count for itself. I know that's complicated - hope it helps - send all questions to SamTiger54@yahoo.com Happy dueling!
