Trading Tips

Trading can be broken down into a science. There are several things you will want to take into consideration on how your trade will
go:

1. Who's wanting what
2. How much will that person trade for what they want
3. Your conscience
4. Your barter skills

First, I'll address number one. There are three different meanings to this. It could mean YOU are wanting something and are willing to trade, another person is wanted to trade you for something, or you are just sitting down and trading with each other. Take these into consideration when trading, as you can take advantage of the situation when making a deal.

Secondly, how much will you/they trade for a certain card. This goes along with numbers three and four, but this is what you want to find out first. Usually this number is only used for ther person trading to you, not you trading to them. Find out what they want and what they will trade for it. Let them make the offers first then search through their cards and find something you want and ask if they'll trade it. Keep making deals until you come to an agreement.

This is where your conscience comes in. There's a fine like between making a good deal and ripping someone off. You must take into account how experienced the duel is and the age. Your conscience can be a wide range, so do what YOU think is right. You may do this by simply ripping off someone or telling the person everything about the trade (i.e. This card is bad but if your really want it...).

Four, your barter skills. When you or they are making offers, you need to keep them interested or else they'll start to chicken out of the trade. In other words, don't make too outragious of a deal or they'll think you're trying to rip them off if they are smart enough. Depending on your conscience, you will place your first deal in either the mid to low range. Try and get as much out of the trade without ripping them off (that's what a good sport would do). You usually don't want to make a deal that they'll except right away, try and go lower.

While trading is not as complicated as I make it seem, I do try and give you some tips to those newbies. Don't be stupid and get yourself ripped off when you can get better and please don't blatantly yell out "I'll trade this for this" before thinking about it. You'll either lose the trade that way or get ripped off. Don't trade all your rares away, keep some in your binder for next time as there might be new people or even a new set out with cards you'll want even more.
