My esteemed fellow duelists, I invite you to review my submission of these tag-team rules that I have hammered together. My ultimate goal is to create a format that doesn t violate any of the normal rules of play or require made-up rules and still allow two players to cooperate with each other. Layout: 4 fields, 8000 LP each player No attacking for first round of turns. No sacrificing, tributing, or fusing from partner's hand or field. No manipulating of partner's hand/ field (exchanging cards, but you can still look at them). Players may use magics/ traps on partner's behalf and during their partner's turn (but they go in the owner s m/t zone). Any costs/ sacrifices incurred by a card played on a partner's behalf are paid by the owner of the card (solemn judgment, magical hats, ultimate offering). A player can normal summon a monster onto his partner s field only if he uses Ultimate Offering and pays the 500 LP. It stays in the owner s m/t zone and can only be used to summon onto the partner s field (not both fields). If the monster is bounced it goes to the controller s hand, not the owner s (so make sure you have different sleeves on your cards). Players may special summon monsters onto their partner s field (ritual/ fusion/ reborn/ effect) as long as they don t tribute from their partner s hand/ field. For non-targeted effects you must select an opponent. A non-targeted effect will only affect your own field (where applicable) and one of your opponents, not both opponents (dark hole, cyber jar, etc). For continuous non-targeted effects that occur OUTSIDE of the battle phase (Chain energy, infinite dismissal) you must choose an opponent for it to affect. Continuous effects that occur DURING the battle phase on your field (Jinzo, Gravekeeper's servant, thousand eyes restrict, field magic) shall not affect the opponent until he/ she attacks or plays m/t against your field OR until you attack them and the effect shall only last for the duration of the attack. If possible, you may attack both opponents (like with two different monsters or hayabusa knight) Cards that redirect effects/ attacks can be used to redirect to your partner s field (shift, dreamsprite, tailor of the fickle) You cannot use Change of Heart, Snatch-steal to put your partner's monster on your field. You cannot use Soul exchange to tribute your partner's monsters. You cannot use exchange to swap cards with your partner. Useful (if not indispensable) cards for this format: Ultimate offering- pay 500 LP to summon a monster onto your partner's field Shift- redirect an attack/ effect to your partner's field/your field Dark spirit of the silent- redirect an attack to your partner's field/ your field Dreamsprite- redirect an attack to your partner s field Tailor of the fickle- move an equip card onto any other monster in play All other rules are as normal. First side whose partner decks/ loses all LP loses. First side whose partner gets Exodia/ DEATH (FINAL) wins. Conclusion: Whenever you attack or are attacked by one of your opponents, your two fields join for the duration of the attack to create one battlefield. And you get extra magic/ trap power from your partner. So, basically, aside from that and the special conventions for continuous effect cards and the summoning of monsters onto your partner s field, it s like one-on-one dueling. Well, ok, it s more like one attacker against two defenders. Example situations: If you have a field magic card (and I don't have one) and if my partner has one, then when my partner attacks you, whichever field magic card was played first is destroyed. When you play a card like gravity bind or Jinzo (continuous effects that occur DURING the battle phase) it will only affect whomever you are attacking (and you, if applicable) or whoever is attacking you. Not both opponents simultaneously. If you play a card like inspection or minor goblin official (continuous effects that occur OUTSIDE of the battle phase), you must choose which of your opponents it will affect and it will ONLY affect that opponent (and you if applicable). When using united we stand or mage power only count the monsters/ magics on your field. Not yours and your partner s combined. Insofar as continuous effects cards are concerned, there are some whose timing with respect to the battle phase is ambiguous (like type zero magic crusher or appropriate). In other words these cards can be activated during the battle phase as well as outside of it depending on the situation. In these cases, just go by the timing of when you activated the trap. That is my humble offering. I hope you all find it of some use.
