I'm not sure if it's that people can't read but several people are not using the Soul Exchange card properly.  The card's text says, "Select an opponent's monster and use it as a TRIBUTE in place of one of your own. You must skip your battle phase for the turn in which this card is activated."

  I'm not sure where people are reading this but they seem to think that by using Soul Exchange you get control of one of their monsters and they get control of yours. Now if you read the card properly it says NOWHERE on the card about you getting control of one of their monsters and they get one of yours. There is a certain card coming out in Premium Pack 4 (not sure about the set) called the Magical Box (Yugi uses it in a duel against Pegasus) which destroys one of your opponent's monsters but he/she gets control of one of your monsters {of your choice} for 1 turn but that is completely different from Magical Box.

 

Now I don't know why people don't just read the card instead of taking the card's name literally.
