Subject: A little preview on Labyrinth of Nightmare - Rocky Hello there, it's me again. Last week I posted the tips concerning DNA Surgery, Limiter Removal, and Dimension Hole. I got several feedbacks and I was encouraged to post more tips. Well, I can't think of any tips right now, but I can share some of my knowledge with the new booster set Labyrinth of Nightmare with the rest. For all of you that don't want a spoiler, relax, other than Quija Board and Fusion Gate, two of the well known cards of the new set, I will NOT mention the names or describe the effect of any other cards in the new set. 1. The Secret Rares It seems that most of you already know that Labyrinth of Nightmare is the combination of Japanese booster set Spell of Mask and Labyrinth of Nightmare. Most of you seem to notice that the secret rare for Japanese Labyrinth of Nightmare is Dark Magician, therefore coming off to the conclusion that it will also be one of the secret rare in the English Booster(I also know the name of the other secret rare, but I won't share it here just so we still have something to look forward to). Well, before I comment on the fact whether Dark Magician will be the secret rare or not, I want to let all of you know that in Japan, starting from the booster set Spell of Mask, they have inserted one popular card among the fans that has been previously released in other booster packs. Going by orders, they are Blue Eyes White Dragon, Dark Magician, Summon Skull, Gaia The Fierce Knight, Red Eyes Black Dragon, Black Skull Dragon, Barrel Dragon and Buster Blader. Now that being said, it all comes down to what Upperdeck is thinking. Personally, I believe the smart thing to do would be take out these already released cards, and put in cards from other booster packs that has yet to see action in North America. Booster Choronicle and Premier Packs come to mind as now would be the perfect opportunity for them to make their debut. 2. Quija Board A lot of people seems to have interest in this set of 5 since it belongs to the class of Exodia. Assemble all 5 pieces on the field and you win. I'm not here to argue whether it is playable or not. I'm just here to inform you all that according to the up to date Japanese Restriction List, Quija Board and Death Message are NOT restricted at all. That's right, Konami understand the difficulty of this set, therefore allowing you to run 3 copy of them in your deck. Now I like to see how many of you is willing to try out this new set comparing to 5 minutes ago. 3. Fusion Gate This card isn't released in English yet, but I already see misleading information online. For one instance, I read someone's tip at Pojo's saying Fusion Gate will remove the FUSION MONSTER once it's destroyed. No, you got it complete wrong my friend. Fusion Gate removes the FUSION MATERIAL MONSTERS from the game. For example, if I use Summon Skull and Red Eyes to form Black Skull. Summon Skull and Red Eyes will be removed from the game rather than send to the graveyard. If Black Skull is destroyed afterwards, it is still send to the graveyard. 4. The focus of Labyrinth of Nightmare Like any other booster set, Labyrinth of Nightmare has a focus. (Magic Ruler was the toons, PSV was the traps). Labyrinth of Nightmare focus on one thing - Graveyard Removal and Recovery. What that means is now we will have a whole lot of cards that will have effect targetting at removing/recovering cards from the graveyard in order to perform its action. Such as destroy monsters, increase stats, etc.. This is a whole new concept into the game, Soul Release is the only graveyard removal card I see in action right now, but with the release of Labyrinth, more and more people should see action with an empty graveyard during a duel. 5. Fusion Deck All you fusion fans, put your hands up in the air. For Labyrinth of Nightmare brings your a whole new era of Fusion Monsters. Not only do you get the field magic Fusion Gate(that's right, it's a Field Magic Card), you will also receive several new and powerful fusion monsters. Along with that, one of the new fusion monsters will have a powerful effect, which makes it the second English Fusion monster to have an effect behind Thousand Eyes Restrict. I won't leak out anymore information other than telling you one more time, the effect of this fusion monster is powerful, but it is definitely not something designed for beginners. Play this card right, you can win the game in a cheap fashion, play it wrong, you'll die a horrible death. LOL, okay I was exaggerating a bit, but you get the idea. 6. Attribute Specific Deck What I mean by this is Light, Dark, Fire, etc main deck. Now that we have strong monsters for 5 out of the six attributes, the loner being Light deck. The strongest non-tribute light monster currently being Neo the Magic Swordsman comparing to La Jinn of Dark or the almighty Goblin of Earth. Well, fear no more, Labyrinth brings you new powerful effect non-tribute monster that belongs to Light attribute. Finally, the six attributes are balanced, somewhat anyway. 7. Monster Tokens Yes, Monsters Tokens will see actions due to card's effect in Labyrinth of Nightmare. Whether Upperdeck will release these tokens will be up to them 8. The Lame Translation Skill of Upperdeck Not sure how many of you guys already saw the flyers for Labyrinth of Nightmare. Well, if you saw it then you should see the three ultra rare cards shown on there. (Torrential Tribute, Dark Necrofear, and United We Stand). Hear me, hear me, 90% of the website online give the translation Power of Unity for the last card while Upperdeck decides to be "creative" and honors it with the name United We Stand. 'sigh' Yet another good card name we will never see, yet have to live with the newly created ones - "glancing at Jinzo, Mystical Space Typhoon, Giant Trunade, Raigeki..." 9. Where do I get all these stuff anyway Well, I can read English, Chinese, and Japanese, so I can always turn to one of the sources when the other one cannot provide me with information I need. But please remember, I'm only a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh like the rest of you, what I know is from other people, do not take my words as if it will be the final version of the new booster. After all, heh, I'm only an average guy like the rest of you out there, mistake should be allowed right? lol. This should be it for now, until next time. Michael Sheng michaelsheng@hotmail.com
