Subject: Running your own Yu-Gi-OH Club/Tournament 1 - Get fans 2 - Keep fans 3 - Get all info you feel you need and have it available for the fans to read and learn from if need be 4 - talk with fans about how prizes might be awarded 5 - Play fairly and if you are playing rookies, let them win ocasionally. Detailed. 1 - Get fans -------> Do this by writing down the name, location and phone number of the places that have cards/host tournaments of their own etc. You know, places where you go often and know many others go as well. Also make little business cards on a computer, preferably, with the address, time, phone number etc on them. Put your number on it too, just in case they have questions. Pass them around to everyone and always have them on hand. Get them to come at specific times and get them to come regularly. This shouldn't be too hard to do, I've been doing it. I had an 8 person competition once which was the biggest one I've ever been in so far. Right now worken on topping that. 2 - Keep fans -------> Keep track of their names and numbers so you can let them know what's going on. When a club is in session, hand out your doubles for free and don't rip them off in the trades (too often) tell them what cards do, what makes a good deck etc. (printing tips and making copies for them to keep helps, so does extra rules books) Have them get both starters and a bunch of boosters. Play them and help them through the mistakes they make such as how to use trap holes, attributes, card restrictions, japanese cards, and spell speed. Always be patient and helpful, the better you help them, the more competition there will exist, the more money upper deck will make, and the more cards that can be made available in english. Once the big tournies come, competition will be fiercer now that you've trained fans/friends to play against. Help your card shop get Upperdeck to get the Duelist King tourny in your shop if you can. 3 - Getting info -------> Search everywhere for some great info/translations you can print up and staple together and always have it on hand when you go to any comic/card/game shop so you can help out current/new rookies. Even some diehards make mistakes or are curious on new rulings etc. A great resource is a great backbone for a club/tournament. 4 - Prizes -------> This is optional, prizes ought to be based on the mix of people playing, if you are all at an equal level then you may all pitch in to buy the prize and the winner takes all or you can just play with fake star chips, perhaps the winner gets a badge of sorts with no monitary value (worth only for what it represents), If you run a cards shop, as far as I can see, some give away boxes, preorders, pack vouchers, rare cards, etc. Be creative and be fair, no sence putting up 50 bucks of a rookie's money and beating the tar out of him/her in a missmatched card duel. 5 - Playing fairly. -------> to keep them fans you need to have respect, play fair, play often as they desire, teach them and follow the above guidelines. Let them win so they know they can do it some if not all the time. Winning only feels better after losing, winning all the time is boring, making them tougher competitors makes the final win all the more worthwhile heck a loss feels good too. Enjoy playing this great CCG and look forward to the Penguin Knight in Magic Ruler. Beware the penguins. Richard dasquiggle@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
