Diabound's Top 10 Reasons Why To Like the Banlist Alright readers, I'm back after my first article (How To Help Newbies, hope you read it). This article is to explain various reasons why you should go Pro-Banlist. I know, it bothered me when I first saw it too, but I want all of you to know, this will obviously revolutionize the metagame in YGO. Just read on, then when you finish reading these 10 reasons you might have changed your opinion. Oh yes, to let all of you readers know I'll be doing CCG Tips from time to time so check those out too. Now onto the list. 10. ::Change:: Now, let me explain this one in detail. Change is often a good thing, in this case, change in YGO will obviously revolutionize our playing. Regionals, Nationals, and World are going to become very, very different. Now just because the searchers will be banned, remember...there are monsters to replace them with (Mother Grizzly, UFO Turtle, Flying Kamkiri #1...etc). Just expect to see a very drastic change in deck types. 9. ::Variety:: Now...more deck types such as...Water, Fire, Wind, Gravekeeper, Weeny Beatdown (lol, I want to see this played!!) will be played, or even seen more. Chaos reigned, Beatdown beated down...but those two types will get a cut in their power from the bans, other decks (Gravekeeper especially) will gain a giant boost. 8. ::Longer Games:: I loathe short games against OTK decks. If some of you have never played against one be thankful, they are absolute pains to get around. Now, personally longer games mean longer tourneys, and this can be good or bad. Longer games also mean more strategy will be needed and more devious schemes and combos can be used to win. 7. ::Theme Decks:: More Water, Fire, Earth, Light, Dark, etc decks will be seen. You can count on Gravekeeper being the most popular due to their ability to control the field and graveyard (very nice...what do you think I'm playing during the banlist?) If you haven't noticed in Soul of Duelist (new YGO set for those of you who don't know) double tribute monsters for both Water and Earth are out...I didn't check other types. 6. ::Less of a No Win Environment for Newbies:: This will very much help newbies learn the game without thinking it sucks right after they get beat by a Chaos deck. Newbies will get the hang of the game faster and hopefully decide to stick with the game, I think this is one of the reasons why Chaos and Beatdown lost alot of their power, and UDE probably acknowledged this as a reason to ban certain cards as they did. 5. ::Easier Play:: With certain "staple cards" banned, its an easier, laid back game of cards, not a fast paced "I'm, going to own you with CED kind of game". Granted, games will take longer with the loss of Sangan, Witch and Graceful...but then again something will sooner or later replace these cards, that or they won't be banned for long. 4. ::Less Controversy:: People won't be busting their butts on unfair treatment when playing against Yata or CED. Some of you may not have expierence this but I have, first hand, the example-At a tourney I was playing a very very spoiled duelist (I say this because his father was their buying him whatever card he wanted) and he denied that CED destroyed his hand, when in reality it did. So he calls over a judge, his dad, and his other friends and says that I screwed him over on a ruling. The judge looks at me, smirks, then reads CED out loud (just as I did when I declared the effect) and tells the kid that his hand is gone. This sets the kid off and he leaves the tourney without finishing the duel. Yes, like I said, spoiled. 3. ::Less power to Beatdown:: I'm sure at least one of you readers has gotten blown away by a Beatdown (cookie cutter) deck at least once, I know I have. Even using my Chaos/Control deck I got owned one day, good duel though. 2. ::Less field control:: Raigeki, Duster, Dark Hole...all field control (in some aspects) banned, less of a situation where you get Dark Hole'd, attacked by a CED and lose, it also gives some Continuous Traps a chance, and best of all...Ectoplasmer(new card, Soul Of Duelist) can serve almost as a new Raigeki/Continous Ring of Destruction. 1. ::Barely Any Chaos:: With CED being banned everyone will see less Chaos unless its a BLS-EOTB/Warrior hybrid. Even then it would be a very very slow time getting him out. Just feel lucky UDE banned him and Yata...remember Chaos players...There is always Control (I am considering playing Mind on Air control). Just be happy and continue playing YGO. Alright guys, that was the list. It got way harder as I got down to 3. For those of you who don't know about Ectoplasmer, Mind On Air, and some of the other cards I mentioned check out the Soul of Duelist Spoiler. Till next time I'm out..I'm open for suggestions on what to write about...email me sometime at, ZombieRooster123@aol.com Josh Z ~Razorblade Romance~
