zombierooster123@aol.com Diabound's Top 10 Ways to Help Newbies Alright, this time I thought I'd be nice and write a way to help all of our little newbie friends out there. Mind you I don't mean to offend, so if I do I apologize completely. So if you did just begin the game, read on, and if you are a season veteran like myself read this anyways and maybe it'll change your mind on newbie players. 10. Introduce yourself, be friendly. Shake their hands and tell them your name, I can tell you that when I introduce myself to new players they seem to acknowledge you as a good player/person and show you their cards. I've seen people walk up to newbies and ask to see their cards and grab for them and I see where newbs are coming form when they are protective of their cards, people get greedy. 9. Do not rip them off. I absolutely dislike when 10 or younger aged players pull amazing cards out of packs and peopel bombard them to rip them off. It bugs me so much, because if anything, encourage them to use the card if its good, this subject goes straight up to the being greedy thing. 8. Gain their trust by being trustworthy. Now, I'm not saying gain their trust them rip them off so if thats what your thinking then maybe you should finish reading this article. Simple be polite to the newb, do not critize their dek building skills even if they have none. Everyone is new at least once, let them learn the game on their own. 7. When you duel them do not under any circumstance degrade them. I repeat... do not...tell them they suck, or are going to lose the next turn. This gives them confidence issues and often makes them think you are a bad person. So if anything help them during your duel if you are more experience (and do know you can probably win). Just lend the helping hand and teach them a combo or two. 6. Don't steal from them. This goes right along with being greedy, simple do not do it. It gives you a bad reputation to the newbie and to others. Just don't do it. 5. Teach them how to deckbuild, play cards at the right time, etc. Nothing newbies like more is learning from pros. They would admire you and rather become your friend than enemy, and why would anyone honeslty want an enemy in the first place? Just be a good teacher and help the newb. 4. Update them on current metagame and banned/ restricted lists. This one is a big one. Most people in official tournaments take a very big advantage on this one. If they know they're playing a newb and see them play 2 Monster Reborns then they'll call over a judge (I've seen it happen) and win by disqualification. Simply the right thing to do by helping them. 3. Don't make fun of their Yu-Gi-Oh attired clothes/ deck boxes. This isn't so big, but people do often bother newbs about this. 2. After a while of being friends make them a killer deck thats competitive enough for you to have fun playing against. Nothing kids love more is a good deck and a good friend to play it with. 1. The golden rule...remember...we were all newbies once. Well this wraps up my second Top 10 List...hope you all learned something and enjoyed it. Josh ZombieRooster123@aol.com ~Sing the Sorrow~
