Brandon's Yu-gi-oh Top 10 List- Top 10 non-limited cards This is an insanly hard list to make, because pretty much every good deck has a lot of limited cards, but some non-limited cards are good too. here is a list of the best non-limited cards in yu-gi-oh (note, since I mainly play control, I'll more than likely be biest towards control decks) (the top 4 was easy, because i already had that decided, but 5-10 was really difficult!!) 10) Axe of Despair- I don't like the beatdown decks, but I think that if United we stand or Mage Power were not made, beatdown decks would have three of these, and some already have a few of these. The cost to get them back is amazingly hard, but the 1000 attack boost is pretty good, just simply because it's like dealing a 1000 direct damage to your opponent. If playing beatdown, could fit one, maybe two of these, if not, do not play this!! 9) Scapegoat- Besides Mystical Space Typhoon, this is the best non-limited magic card out there. It's best to set it first so if your opponent tries to destroy it, you activate it, and you'll get four defenders and he/she wastes a magic/trap destroyer spell. Waboku works well too, but i'd rather be able to get 4 defenders instead of blocking damage for one turn, because most damage done will only come from no more than two monsters at a time. Not a staple, but I'd try sidedecking one of these for fun and to give it a try to shock and annoy your opponent. 8) Mystic Tomato- Almost a staple in control decks! This card helps thin the decks to give a better chance of drawing the power limited cards to change the game, plus you can always have a monter to tribute if you need one, because the opponent would have to get through three tomatoes and another monster to hit you directly! Also, you can get out Witch, Sangan, Spirit Reaper, and Don Zaloog to the field with this card! Shining Angel is almost as effective, because that card allows you to get out D.D. Warrior Lady, but as of right now, there aren't very many untra-powerful light monsters. Until then, Tomato will be the best deck thinning card available. 7) Spirit Reaper- Could quite possible be one of the best regular rares ever, besides Pot of Greed and Witch of the Black Forest. Great stall card since it doesn't die from battle, and whenever the attack is open, attack with it and they discard a card from his/her hand! Being targeted by magic cards automatically destroy it, but that's mostly a good think, since the widly used magic cards are cards such as snatch steal, change of heart, raigeki, etc. Basically, that effect only hurts if you put it in a beatdown with lots of equip cards in it. Also, it's searchable with Witch, Sangan, Mystic Tomato, and Pyramid Turtle, which makes it very easy to fetch out of the deck. A great monster!! 6) Gemini Elf- Actually, this can be any 1900 attack monster that's searchable from witch of the black forest, but Gemini Elf was the first, so it deserves to be on here. Again, I hate beatdown cards, but even some control decks have a few 1900's, such as last year's world champion deck, just in case the person's fighting another control deck. Pretty much every deck has at least 3 1900's, but about all I see have much more than that. If you have a beatdown deck, go heavy on these. If not, it's your call. I personally don't use these beatdown monsters. I instead use another high attack monster that's listed at #4. 5) Don Zaloog- In my opinion, this card shouldn't be as valuable as it is, but I still think this is an excellent card nethertheless. It's a White Magical Hat with 400 more attack, 900 more defense, has a Dark element, and can be brought to the field with Mystic Tomatoes! Plus it has the 2nd effect of removing the opponent's top two cards from his or her deck. Can be useful, but can also be painful if you're not lucky. In my opinion, at least one should be in your main or your side deck, because discarding in Yu-gi-oh is a great strategy to have! 4) Kycoo the Destroyer- I am a control nut!! So I normally hate high attack monsters, but this one has probably one of the coolest and useful effects out there, therefore, it's the only high attack monster I like! Sure it's only 1800 attack, but with the Chaos Monsters that roam very often and the excessive use of reanimating monsters from the graveyard (reanimating is a Magic the Gather term for returning a creature from the graveyard to the field), this is an excellent card! Whenever it hurts an opponent, he or she loses two cards of your choice from the graveyard from the game, and in addition, he or she cannot play cards off from the graveyard, so you cannot monster reborn, use magician of faith's ability, use a chaos monster's necessary cost to summon it, and etc. I always sidedeck at least one of these, and you should too. You'll never know when that effect will come to use... 3) D.D. Warrior Lady- Wow, this card is just amazing! Besides Mystic Tomatoes and Pyrimid Turtles, this is the best card to ram into higher attack monsters to get the effect. If her effect wasn't opitional, then this card would not see as much tournament play as it is right now. Also, if she was searchable by Witch of the Black Forest, then this card would nearly be broken! I'll take 900 damage to remove your Jinzo from the game, or i'll take 500 damage to remove your vampire lord from the game, or i'll let your 1900 attack monster attack her in defense so it'll be removed from the game without me taking damage! Also, with the chaos monsters, since a light is needed to be removed from the game, this is a great choice since it is one of the best light monsters available! I'd definitly run at least one in my deck, maybe more, but definitly have a combanation of three between your main deck and side deck. 2) Magician of Faith- This is my favorite card, and it has been since it came out whenever I started playing at Metal Raiders, but sadly, not many people use her anymore because of cards that destory face down monsters easily are being used very often. I have and always will have one Magician of Faith in my deck, because to me, it is still one heck of a card. It's supremely weak in stats, weaker than a Fiber Jar, but with the ability to return a magic card from your graveyard to your hand can greatly change the game. I'll take another Raigeki to destroy all your monsters or a Pot of Greed to draw more or a Swords of Revealing Light to stall three more turns. Just being able to use Magic cards again, especially the limited ones, makes her one of the best monsters still out there. 1) Mystical Space Typhoon- If a deck has to be effective in yu-gi-oh today, it has to have three of these!! If a Harpie's Feather Duster and a Heavy Storm are too hard to get, at least trade for three commons of this card. Every deck rocks with this card, because it's a quickplay, so it can be activated during your opponent's turn if you set it so your opponent's traps can be destroyed before they can activate them next turn. Also, getting rid of game changing traps or permanent magic cards is very helpful. Just for the fact that 3 of these are needed in every deck makes this the best non-limited card available. Honorable Mentions (in no particular order)- Pyrimid Turtle, D.D. Designator, Dark Magician of Chaos (until it gets banned in America), Beserk Guerilla, Waboku, Magic Jammer, Dark Ruler Ha Des, Dark Paladin, Shining Angel, Relinquished Again, if you have any questions or comments, e-mail me at sweetbran2003@yahoo.com Brandon
