DrBubbles Top 50 Monsters

I know this is called the Top 10 List section, but I felt like trying
something a little bigger this time around. This is my list of the 50 best
monsters in the game, prior to AST.

First off, let me just say that this is just my personal opinion, and
I'm not saying you're wrong if other lists disagree. The real reason behind

me doing this list is just for practise for my Keyboarding exam tomorrow, so

technically, I'm studying. Anyone with complaints, comments or tips on
getting me over the 30 WPM level are welcome (drbubbles2003@hotmail.com).

One more note, I have heard that there may be changes made to Fairy King

Truesdale, so he is not being considered for the top 50, but let's give him
"honourable mention".

#50) Princess of Tsurugi- Far from the best form of Direct Damage in the

game, Tsurugi can still deal a potential 3000 damage from a flip-effect,
with an average of about 1000-1500 damage in each activation. Not great,
but still one of the best direct damage monsters around.

#49) Twin-Headed Behemoth- This card is restricted for a reason, he is a

1500 ATK which can bring itself back to the field a second time at no cost
to you. Although he won't see much tournament play, he is still a
reasonable form of defense for some control decks.

#48) Vampire Lord- 2000 Atk for a tribute is not much be any standards,

and his effect when he hits a player I'm not wild about, but this guy is a
major threat to any deck that can't out-muscle him to stop his recursion
ability.

#47) Mystical Knight of Jackal- My personal favorite monster in the game

from the moment I saw him. He is like a Yata on steroids- a lot of
steroids. The best power-house for light control decks (which aren't that
bad) and among the best two tribute monsters in the game. After the amount
of success that I've had with this guy, it sickens me to see that this guy
never gets the respect it deserves as the only two-tribute monster to see
World Championship play (take a look, his side-decked, but still there).

#46) Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer- Seeing use by control, beatdown, and
Chaos players alike, this guy is the most efficient form of protection from
the Envoys. 1800 ATK may not get noticed now as much as when he was
released, at least he was able to stay competitive unlike his fellow LON
monster, Bazoo, who never quite recovered from losing the ability to eat the

souls of Magics/Spells and Traps.

#45) Spell Canceller- Another 1800, the major reason this guy didn't see

the kind of play that Jinzo did is found in the ATK score. Not being
Witch-able hurts since every deck plays WOTBF, and it isn't a good sign if
you're a tribute monster that gets runover by the 1900's. I'll never be
able to look at any tribute monster that can't stand up to a Gagagigo.

#44) Choasrider Gustaph- Other than Injection, this is the best Sangan
can get you for power. 1400 with the potential for 2000 is not as high as
what Bazzo can do, but it is easier to find Magics to remove early in the
game than monsters you don't need in the graveyard in the age of the Envoys.

Being a Warrior is just a bonus.

#43) Giant Orc- A mini-Goblin Attacker in common form. Ignore the
Union monster- it isn't worth it. 2200 is still enough to be effective, and

he is a no-tribute monster that can get rid of #48 effectively.

#42) Berserk Gorilla- A really don't like this guy, but I've seen him
work. 2000 ATK can pick off most of the other Level 4 monsters that are
going to see play (Jirai Gumo can still take him), but it's the attacks
every turn thing that really bothers me. Occasionally, that's just
suicidal.

#41) Thousand-Eyes Restrict- Made better by Magical Scientist, the
ability to suck up a monster and take its stats is awesome, especially with
the board-locking ability. In my opinion, this guy is the unquestioned king

of Fusion monsters and the only one on the list (sorry Musician King).

#40) Shining Angel- IOC brought new life to this nearly forgotten Light
searcher, despite the fact that it will generally only search out more of
itself. This guy isn't the only attribute searcher seeing play nowadays,
there is another one of these guys right after

#39) Sasuke Samurai- A warrior-type that can exterminate anything from
Cyber Jar to Fiber Jar, or anything else face-down for that matter. 500/500

is awfully weak though, put this guy should still see play in Gravity Bind
decks and Warrior decks with his good buddy, Book of Moon.

#38) Giant Rat- A warrior-decks best friend in Rodent form. His most
common choices are himself, Exiled Force, Lily, and MC, and that should be a

solution for just about everything. Like Shining Angel, the 1400 ATK is
enough to take out a Zaloog and bring out a replacement for another attack.

1450 is also just right, Witch-able, but can hold off Mystic Tomato and
other 1400's (like himself).

#33 through #37) Exodia and and limbs- I hate these guys, so lets get
this over with. These guys are still good after all this time, even better
now that they can have another Backup Soldier. First hand- Exodia Head,
Painful Choice and Backup Soldier is Game Over, and that makes me sick.

#32) Dark Magician of Chaos- 2800 Atk , Spell recycling, the ability to

remove a destroyeed monster from the game without hitting the graveyard and
the ability to work with the Graceful Charity+Monster Reborn combo makes
this guy what I've always wanted from a two-tribute monster, the total
package. The best two tribute monster in the game.

#31) Goblin Attack Force- 2300 Atk Level 4 that drew the line of how big

tribute monsters have to be to be worth using. The Warrior type is just a
bonus, and it's because of this guy that the Warrior deck has a future in
competitve play. The defensive switch will always lure an opponents monster

into attack mode, which sets them up for another hefty shot.

#30) Reflect Bounder- The one monster your opponent is most likely to be

hesitant about attacking. Massive direct damage, 1700 Atk and the Light
Attribute combine into a formidable monster. Possibly the best Light
monster for Chaos decks.

#29) D.D. Warrior Lady- Another of the great Light Monsters,
unfortunately the Choas decks won't get full use out of it if it is removed
from play. This monster can get rid of anything that attacks it or vice
versa, and give Shining Angel a great option.

#24 through #28)- Archfiend Soldier, Skilled Dark Magician, Mad Dog of
Darkness, Gemini Elf, Luster Dragon- The 1900's are so similar that I'm
listing them as a group. They generally deliver what they promise- 1900
ATK. Rank them as you desire.

#23) Spear Dragon- In a time where few monsters last more than two turns

anyway, the Fairy Metoer Crush is enough in my opinion to put this guy ahead

of the other 1900's. This guy is Spirit Reaper's worst nightmare ( that
wasn't a stupid Nightmare Horse reference, at least not intentionally.) and
that is a good thing.

#22) Summoned Skull- Still the king of tribute monsters in the brute
power category, this guy is pretty simple- 25/12 and Dark. Oh, and he's an
Archfiend for some reason.

#21) Newdoria- Witchable monster destruction with no questions asked,
all you've got to do is get this guy in the graveyard. No flip required,,
and better stats than MEB. And Dark. A solid monster with no drawback.

#20) This slot was held by a monster which I realized to late was in
AST, and therefore disqualified. Use this slot for anything that I forgot
or simply ignore it. Perhaps Slate Warrior, which I would have left out
other wise because I've heard he wasn't tournament-legal.

#19) Tribe-Infecting Virus- 1600 Atk that destroys all of a type with a
single discard. The best Water monster in the game, no questions asked.
Gets rid of anything form Envoys to Reapers to Jinzo- now that's power.

#18) Magical Scientist- Pay 1000 Life Points to destroy a monster (TER)
or bring out a huge monster for monster destroying purposes. Or both. I
really wish they hadn't printed this guy. If he wasn't such a target for
massive Life Point Damage, I would really find it hard to keep him out of
the top 10, but as it is, he is just one of the ten or so truly ban worthy
monsters.

#17) Mystic Tomato- One of the best searchers in the game, he can get
out thirteen of the monsters on this list, himself included. With that kind

of searching power, the 1400 Atk is just a bonus.

#16) Don Zaloog- 1400 Atk, works with Witch, Sangan, Tomato, Freed, and
Reinforcements of the Army, Dark and delivers card discarding. The other
ability isn't a big thing, though it may occasionally come in handy. A
staple in control, Warrior and Choas decks.

#15) Airknight Parshath- 1900 Atk with a built in card-drawing effect
and fairy meteor crush. The part about being a Light Monster makes him even

better. The Fairy type may even be a bonus with the theme of AST.

#14) Dark Ruler Hades- 2450 Atk, Dark type, with flip-effect negation.
The fact that he can't be brought back is a downer, but the simple fact that

he can take Jinzo out will atract some interest.
One of the best tribute monsters available.

#13) Exiled Force- Monster destruction in a Witchable form. Or
Rat-able. Or Reborn-able. This guy provides anything that could search for

or bring back a monster to double as monster destruction. The fact that he
can pick off GAF and then tribute for a kill is just a bonus.

#12) Spirit Reaper- They gave Skull Servent a sharp stick, some skin and

red eyes and now he's simply awesome. The look on an opponents face when
their army of 1900's is held at bay be a 300/200 is priceless. The
targeting thing was obviously just to bring him down to earth, but with the
discarding effect and being Dark, this guy has a lot going for him.

#11) Sinister Serpent- The only solution to CED-Yata other than a Witch
or Sangan on the board. For any Magic players out their, this guy is Squee.

You can discard him, tribute him, have him destroyed countless times and
he always comes back. 300/250 is pathetic, but it gives Yata nightmares.

#10) Sangan- Good ol' Critter is still as popular today as he always
was. A dark monster that can supply most any of your effect monsters at no
cost to you. Witch gets more credit, but this guy works with CED just as
well. Without this guy, alot of great monsters would become less great.

#9) Injection Fairy Lily- 400/1500 makes this guy work with Sangan and
Witch, and deliver more damage in a single swing than anything short of CED.

They got rid of her in Japan for a reason, too nuch damage, too little
cost. 3400 Atk just shouldn't work with Gravity Bind.

#8) Black Luster Soldier- Envoy of the Beginning- 30/25 that doesn't
require tributes and can run over multiple monsters better than Tyrant
Dragon and Asura Priest put together. It just isn't right to put 3000 ATk
on a monster that doesn't require tributes.

#7) Jinzo- The games best tribute monster is as popular as ever. 2400
Atk that shuts down every trap in the game once he comes in un-negated.
You'd never realize how effective he is until you've used one. The best
tribute monster in the game.

#6) Breaker the Magical Warrior- Like Exiled Force this guy lets
searchers and recursoin cards do something they normally coldn't do- destory

M/T's. A 1900 Attacker that can double as an MST attached to a 1600/1200 is

too much. And he's a Dark/Warrior.

#5) Chaos Emperor Dragon-Envoy of the End- I hadn't been playing
Yu-Gi-Oh between last October and this May. When I started up again, I
asked some of the players at the nearest tournament what I'd missed. They
didn't say much. Then one day, they asked be if Reflect Bounder waaas
restricted. I didn't know, so I checked the web for the list. Then I saw
Emperor Dragon, and I almost cried. I thought Upper Deck had enough sense
to avoid printing this monster. Then I asked everyone there why no one had
told me. None of them had ever heard of him. Then I told them what it did,
and they didn't like it. I've sense made believers out of them. This guy
provides more damage than any one card should be able to do, regardless of
cost. It's that simple.

    #4) Yata-Garasu- A no-tribute, draw-sealing, Spirit monster. What more
could you ask for? If this guy could be special summoned, he would be
banned now. No questions asked.

#3) Cyber Jar- Card drawing, field clearing and board refilling all in a

Witchable form. And Dark. To me, that is just too much for a mere flip of
a monster. Banned in Japan for a reason.

#2) Fiber Jar- More than field-clearing, this guy starts the game over
(except life totals) for a mere flip. In my top 25 list last year, this guy

was #2, and still is. Along with his cousin Cyber, this guy has seen his
last days in Japan, and perhaps in North America soon also.

#1) Witch of the Black Forest- When talking about how good a card is,
the way it reacts to Witch is always among the first things mentioned.
Witch is capable of searching out 35 of the monsters on this list, and that
is just scary. The one and only monster that belongs in every deck. This
guy is the reason I use a fusoin deck (Musician King, I don't use cards to
fuse, put against a Fusion Gate, in the event I take control of a
Fusion-Substitiute, this is just an extra option. Plus, it doesn't hurt any

to have a fusion deck, even if it doesn't have much use.

So this is my Top 50. I'd be glad to hear any comments about it from
anyone who actually took the time to read this through. E-Mail me at
