Mike Bodzsar's Top 10 Fiends.

These are the top 10 Fiend type cards that nearly everyone running a Fiend deck should probably be running.

10)  Dark Jeriod:

PGD-056
DARK JEROID
Dark/Fiend/4/1200/1500
When this monster is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned, or Special Summoned, select 1 face-up monster on the field and decrease its ATK by 800 points. This effect lasts until the selected card is destroyed or removed from the field.

The reason, mainly because even though he has a low attack, he can serverly hurt your opponent, especially when they have a powerful monster on the feild such as Jinzo, Black Luster Soldier Envoy or Blue Eyes making them all bait to your more powerful monsters.

9)  Giant Germ:

Dark/2/1000/100
[Fiend/Effect]
When this card is sent to the Graveyard as a result of Battle, inflict 500 points of Direct Damage to your opponent's Life Points. You can also take cards of the same name from your Deck and Special Summon them to the Field in face-up Attack Position. The Deck is then shuffled.

This is a great card for Fiend decks for 3 reasons:

a) Does burn damage when destroyed in battle.

b) When destroyed, swarms the field.

c) Necrofear food once in Graveyard.

Anyone running fiend should consider running 3 of them.

8)  Giant Orc:

Dark/4/2200/0
[Fiend/Effect]
Effect: When this card attacks, it is changed to Defense Position at the end of the Battle Phase. This position cannot be changed until the end of your next turn.   ATK 2200/ DEF 0

Basically, hes a Goblin Attack Force thats 100 ATK points weaker, but he's a fiend.  Hes strong enough to take out most of your opponents monsters on the field but is an easy target once he switches to defense. He can put a serious hurting on your opponents LP if they have a clear feild, but since he still has the GAF effect built in, I ranked him 8.

7) Night Assailant:

Fiend / Effect Monster
FLIP: Select 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field and destroy it. When this card is sent directly from your hand to the Graveyard, return 1 Flip Effect Monster from your Graveyard to your hand.   ATK 200/ DEF 500

This just came out in the new AST set and is a God-send to fiend deck users alike.  Hes a fiend version of Man-Eater Bug and because of his second effect is why hes an ingenious monster.  When hes sent to the Graveyard, from the hand, get a flip effect monster back!  Did anyone say Slate Warrior??  Awsome monster, but because hes somewhat weaker than M.E.B. I ranked him 7.

6) Slate Warrior:

Fiend / Effect Monster
FLIP: Increase the ATK and DEF of this monster by 500 points. The ATK and DEF of a monster that destroys this monster as a result of battle is decreased by 500 points.       ATK1900/ DEF 500

This is probably the single most powerful fiend monster that you can summon without a tribute, only below Giant Orc.  First a solid 1900 ATK, which is very nice especially in todays metagame.  Second, 500 DEF means he's Witchable.  I doubt many people will actually use his flip effect, but just in case hes destroyed by Jinzo, Vampire Lord, etc... He reduces them by 500 ATK making them prey for some of your weakest monsters.

5) Dark Balter the Terrible:

Fiend / Fusion / Effect Monster
"Possessed Dark Soul" + "Frontier Wiseman" This monster can only be Fusion Summoned by the above Fusion-Material Monsters. When a Normal Spell Card is activated, negate the effect by paying 1000 Life Points. Also negate the effect of an Effect Monster that is destroyed by this monster in Battle.  ATK 2000/ DEF 1200

Awsome card for decks that run Magical Scientist.  Built in Dark Ruler Hades Effect, along with the ability to negate Magic cards at a small cost.  Or, even better, use Scientist to grab a Level 5 monster from the fusion deck, play metamorphasis and keep Balter on the field.  No more needs to be said, great card.

4) Dark Necrofear:

Dark/Fiend/8/2200/2800/Effect
This card can only be Special Summoned by removing 3 Fiend-Type monsters in your Graveyard from play. When this card is destroyed in battle or by your opponent's card effect, it is treated as an Equip Magic Card at the end of the turn. Equip 1 of your opponent's monsters with this card. As long as it is equipped with this card, you control the equipped monster.

I know fiend lovers are going to be angry that I put him so low on the list, but personally I dont think hes all that great.  If you have alot of fiends in the deck, hes quite easy to summon.  2200 ATK is solid, and his effect to control a monster when destroyed in battle is great, but I doubt most people will attack it head on, instead they'll use Raigeki or some other form of monster removal.  A good card in Fiend decks, but there are better.

3) The End of Anubis:

Fiend / Effect Monster
As long as this card remains face-up on the field, all effects of Spell, Trap, and Monster Cards that designate a card(s) in the Graveyard or that activate in the Graveyard are negated.    ATK 2500/ DEF 0

Yes, its the new End of Anubis secret rare from AST.  This card gave MAJOR boosts to fiend decks uopn its release.  2500 ATK makes him the new Summoned Skull, along with the single strongest single tribute monster out there (Except for Fairy King Truesdale with 2700).  This guy is basically Summoned Skull fused with Necrovalley.  His ability to negate Monster Reborn, Call of the Haunted, etc is great.  He negates Witch, Sangan, Magician of Faith, etc... the only bad part, is that he cannot prevent the summoning of the chaos monsters (Pouts).  All-in-all, an awsome card that no fiend deck user should be without.

2) Kuriboh:

Dark/Fiend/1/300/200
Effect: Discard this card from your hand to the Graveyard to make the damage inflicted to your Life Points by 1 opponent's monster 0. This effect must be activated during your opponent's Battle Phase.   ATK 300/ DEF 200

Ah yes, this cute little fuzzball, who couldnt forget?  Kuriboh, you eaither love him or hate him.  This card has saved my neck countless times and is practically a nessecity in fiend decks.  He prevents damage from one monster in the battle phase, which can sometimes save you from losing the entire game.  He was a super rare in Metal raiders, but is now easily obtainable for people that need him (Yugi Evolution Deck).  An Awsome card even if you dont run a fiend deck.  I dont see why some people dont use him in just about every deck.

And the number one fiend is:

1) Dark Ruler Hades (Was it any supprise?)

Dark/Fiend/6/2450/1600
Effect: As long as this card remains face-up on the field, negate the effects of Effect monsters destroyed by Fiend-type monsters on your side of the field in battle.  This card cannot be Special Summoned from the graveyard.

Ah yes, the Dark Ruler himself.  This is a MUST in fiend decks.  Lets look at him, shall we?

Pros:
2450 ATK, whcih outranks just about every other single tribute monster.
He's a feind, duh.
Negates all effects of Effect Monsters destroyed by himself, and other fiends on your field.
Once in the Graveyard, hes Necrofear food.

Cons:
1600 DEF means hes unsearchable by Witch.
Cannot be revived from Graveyard.

This is an absolute must for fiend decks, as he is probably the most versitile monster on the market today.
