The Top Ten Monster Cards Monster cards are one of the most important things in any deck, and without good monsters in your deck, you will get a guaranteed loss. This top ten list recognizes the best of the best, the cream of the crop, the monsters can win you the game if you play them right. 10. Nimble Momonga- Nimble Momonga is an oustanding card and is great to start off my top ten list. For those of you who don't know, when Nimble is sent to the graveyard as a result of battle then you gain 1000 life points AND you can special summon any other Nimbles from your deck in face-down defense position. This is great, because if Nimble is the only monster on your side and it is destroyed, you can stop direct damage by bringing out more Nimbles! This card would be ranked lower if it didn't have to be a result of battle. Set: Magic Ruler Not Restricted Reccomended deck types: Life gaining, Defense, Stalling, Mixed, Exodia 9. Hane-Hane- Hane-Hane is a fun and interesting card. When it's flipped you can select one monster on the field and return it to the owner's hand. I prefer Hane-Hane over Wall of Illusion because Hane-Hane let's you choose which monster to send, and although Hane-Hane has lower stats than the Wall, being able to choose the monster to send back makes him a much better card. Set: Starter Deck, Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon Not Restricted Reccomended deck types: Defense, Stalling, Mixed, Beatdown, Exodia 8. Maha Vailo - This four star monster can become a lethal weapon if you can play it right! Every time an equip card is attached to Maha Vailo, Vailo's attack increases by 500! Since Vailo already has 1550 attack on it's own, attach an equip card that boosts the attack like Malevolent Nuzzler and instead of +700, you'll get +1200 and raise Maha's attack all the way to a big fat hairy butt whooping 2750. Since many attack boosting equips cards are commons, it shouldn't be too hard to find them. Set: Magic Ruler Not Restricted Reccomended deck types: Beatdown 7. Witch of the Black Forest- The Witch is well known and well made. When it is sent from the field to the graveyard, you can select 1 monster with a defense of 1500 or less from your deck and place it in your hand! This is an amazing effect, as cards like Summoned Skull, Exodia pieces and most of the cards on the list can be searched out by the Witch. Heck, if you wanted to, you could even search out another Witch of the Black Forest. Set: Metal Raiders Restricted to two per deck. Reccomended deck types: Any 6. Cyber Jar- Ah, the odd but wonderful Cyber Jar. When this monster is flipped, all the monsters on the field are destroyed (including Cyber Jar) and both you and your opponent draw 5 cards and show them to each other, any 4 star monsters or below that you and your opponent drew MUST be summoned in face-up attack position or face-down position. Once again, if used the right way this can be a game winner, but I don't reccomend using this card if you are new to the game, only more experienced players who know more about the game should use it. Cyber Jar is like a Dark Hole and a good way to get cards, but the downside is your opponent knows everything you have, if you drew Mirror Force I am pretty sure he wouldn't be attacking the next turn. :D But still, this is one of the best. Set: Magic Ruler Restricted to one per deck. Reccomended deck types: Monster Removal, Card Destruction, Defense, Stalling, 5. Maneater Bug- Look, it's everyone's favorite big, Maneater Bug! Flip it and destroy a monster! What more can I say? It helps clear the field, and if you run Exodia, you can use it to destroy your own Sangan or Witch to search out an Exodia piece, AND if he destroys a face-down monster with a Flip effect, the effect isn't activated. Set: Starter Deck, Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon Not Restricted Reccomended types- Any 4. Barrel Dragon- One of my favorites, a two tribute 2600 attack monster WITH a killer effect. Flip a coin, and if two out of the three flips is heads, you can destroy one monster on the field. Not only is he a power house AND a machine(machines are resistant to Paralyzing Potion), but he can destroy two monsters per turn since you can still attack after you use the effect. This is a great card for clearing the field for direct damage, and he can team up with Maneater Bug to pull a nasty combo. Set: Metal Raiders Not Restricted Reccomended deck types- Beatdown, Monster Removal, Beatdown, Barrel Dragon Themed Deck 3. Magician of Faith- The final three, and in third is one EXTREMELY helpful monster, the Magician of Faith. You'll definately have more Faith with this card in your deck, when it's flipped you can choose one magic card from your graveyard and place it in your hand. Use that Monster Reborn? Take it back for another ride. Awww, lose that Raigeki to a Magic Jammer? Bring it back and gain some revenge. Magician of Faith is truely one of the best cards out there. Set: Metal Raiders Not Restricted Reccomended deck types- Any 2. Jinzo- My favorite card, Jinzo is a one tribute, 2400 attack monster, making it second only to Summoned Skull. But that's not all Jinzo is, he also comes packaged with what is currently the deadliest effect in the English Yu-Gi-Oh card game, as long as he is face-up on the field, trap cards cannot be activated, AND the effects of all face-up traps are negated. Yes this stops your traps too, but who is controlling the monster with 2400 attack? He can't be Trap Holed, Mirror Forced, Waboku'd and what not. The only traps that stop him are Horn of Heaven and Solemn Judgement, since they negate a summon. If your opponent has a Spellbinding Circle, Robbin' Boblin or other trap cards face-up, they won't be doing anything as long as Jinzo is there, so yes you can attack with a monster who has Spellbinding Circle activated on it as long as Jinzo is on the field. As long as he is sittin' on the field, your opponent can't use any of the cards I listed above against other monsters either, AND Jinzo can be searched out by the Witch. Jinzo is a strong and excellent card, but only use him if you know what you are doing. Set: Pharaoh's Servant Upper Deck has not restricted the Pharaoh's Servant set yet. Reccomended deck types: Stalling, Defense, Beatdown 1. Summoned Skull- Now how easy was it to predict the number one spot? Everyone knows Summoned Skull, the best monster in the game. He's a Dark type, he requires one tribute, and he has 2500 attack. No monster six stars or below can beat him. He has no effect, just the 2500 attack for one tribute. When he is brought onto the field, he beats the living crap out of most monsters. When he is stopped, he is usually Monster Reborned to beat some more crap out of monsters. Everyone uses him, everyone knows him. If you don't use him, you should. Set: Starter Deck, Metal Raiders Not Restricted Reccomended deck types: Any It was a long and tiring job writing this, and in the future I will send in the top ten magic cards and the top ten trap cards. You can e-mail me at ExtremeHappy4@aol.com, this is Jinzo signing off.. ~
