Who’s ready for a grand adventure? Hello Pojo Readers, Crunch$G here to talk about the latest Deck Build Pack and the first one for a while, The Grand Creators. After the lackluster showing from Ancient Guardians, we needed a better set to save the legacy of the Deck Build Sets, and we got one here. We got the new P.U.N.K. archetype as a control style Deck that can search basically the whole archetype, we get Exosisters for a new Rank 4 strategy that can summon their monsters with just 1 card, and the Adventurer Token series to serve as the latest engine to join the game. We also get the 2020 Create a Card in this set, so let’s break it all down and see what’s going on.

The Collector’s Rares

To start it all off, we got the Collector’s Rares in this set to give these archetypes a nice max rarity option, alongside upgrading some popular cards of the past. In this set, we did get 3 new Collector’s Rares each for the 4 archetypes alongside 3 extra Collector’s Rares for more generic cards. The P.U.N.K. Collector’s Rares are Noh-P.U.N.K. Foxy Tune, Noh-P.U.N.K. Ogre Dance, and Ukiyoe-P.U.N.K. Amazing Dragon. For the Exosisters, we get Collector’s Rares for Exosister Sophia, Exosister Mikailis, and Exosister Pax. The Adventurer Token related Collector’s Rares are Rite of Aramesir, Water Enchantress of the Temple, and Fateful Adventure. Inzektor related Collector’s Rares are Zektrike Kou-ou, Inzektor Hornet, and Inzektor Dragonfly. Finally, your generic Collector’s Rares are Emergency Teleport, Torrential Tribute, and Solemn Strike.

Feeling Lucky?

Who You Gonna Call?

Now we get to the Exosister archetype, full of Level 4 LIGHT Spellcasters and Rank 4 LIGHT Warriors who focus on locking down the opponent’s graveyard and benefiting from controlling another sister. All the Level 4s have their own unique effects and also get bonus effects to gain 800 LP if you control a specific Exosister after, also they let you Xyz Summon an Exosister using only said monster as material if the opponent moves a card from either graveyard. The Rank 4s all cannot be destroyed in battle by monsters summoned from the graveyard, have effects for the turn they were summoned, and another effect to detach a material. Exosister Elis is a Level 4 who Special Summons herself if you control an Exosister and then lets you gain 800 LP if you control Exosister Stella. Exosister Stella is a Level 4 who lets you Special Summon an Exosister from hand and then lets you gain 800 LP if you control Exosister Elis. Exosister Mikailis is a Rank 4 who on the turn it was Xyz Summoned using an Exosister as material can use a Quick Effect to banish a card the opponent controls or is in their graveyard and also lets you detach a material to add an Exosister Spell/Trap from Deck to hand. Exosister Kaspitell is a Rank 4 who on the turn she was Xyz Summoned using an Exosister monster as material will prevent both players from Special Summoning from the graveyard and can detach a material to add an Exosister monster from Deck to hand. Exosister Gibrine is a Rank 4 who gets a Quick Effect the turn she’s Xyz Summoned using an Exosister monster to target an Effect Monster the opponent controls and negates its effects for the turn, also she can detach a material to have all Xyz Monsters you control gain 800 ATK until the end of the turn. Exosister Asophiel is a Rank 4 who on the turn she was Xyz Summoned using an Exosister will prevent either player from using cards or effects in the graveyard and can detach a material to target a monster the opponent controls to return it to the hand. Exosister Pax is a Quick-Play Spell that during the Main Phase can let you pay 800 LP to add an Exosister card from your Deck to your hand then you can Special Summon it from your hand if it’s a monster you add to your hand and the Exosister the added card mentions in its effect is on the field or in your graveyard. Exosister Arment is a Quick-Play Spell that lets you pay 800 LP to target an Exosister you control to Special Summon an Exosister Xyz from your Extra Deck with a different name from the cards you control by using the targeted Exosister as material (this is treated as an Xyz Summon and transfer any materials) and you can only use this card on the opponent’s turn if they control a monster summoned from the graveyard. Exosister Carpedivem is a Continuous Spell that prevents either player from targeting Exosister monsters you control with effects of monsters that were Special Summoned from the graveyard, can let you declare a card name to negate the activated effects and effects of cards on the field of the declared name if you Xyz Summon an Exosister monster, and can let you destroy an opponent’s Spell/Trap when an attack is declared involving your Exosister monster. Finally, Exosister Vadis is a Normal Trap that lets you pay 800 LP to choose an Exosister from your Deck to take the other Exosister mentioned on that monster from Deck and Special Summons them both, but they are shuffled into the Deck during the End Phase and you can only summon Exosisters from the Extra Deck for the rest of the turn.

Ready for an Adventure?

Now we get to the hyped archetype of the set, or at least the archetype with hyped cards, the Adventurer Token archetype. This archetype is focused on an Adventurer Token, which is summoned by only a single card, and you are off to the races with your cards at full power once you have this Token. Rite of Aramesir is a Normal Spell that summons the Adventurer Token if you don’t control one (Fairy/EARTH/Level 4/ATK 2000/DEF 2000), and then places a Faithful Adventure on your field if you don’t control one, but either way you can’t activate the effects of monsters on the field that weren’t Special Summoned the turn you use this card. Water Enchantress of the Temple is a Level 3 WATER Spellcaster who can be Special Summoned from the hand if you control an Adventurer Token, can be banished from your hand or graveyard to add a Rite of Aramesir from Deck or grave to your hand, and if you control an Adventurer Token while this is on the field you get to place a Field Spell from Deck to the Field Zone that mentions an Adventurer Token. Magicore Warrior of the Relics is a Level 4 FIRE Warrior who cannot attack unless you control an Adventurer Token, can be Special Summoned from the hand if you control an Adventurer Token, and lets you set a Trap that mentions Adventurer Token from Deck at the end of the Battle Phase if a monster that lists Adventurer Token battled. Wandering Gryphon Rider is a Level 7 WIND Winged Beast who can be Special Summoned from hand as a Quick Effect during the Main Phase if you either control no monsters or you control an Adventurer Token and has another Quick Effect on field while you control an Adventurer Token to negate a card or effect and destroy said card by shuffling this card into the Deck. Fateful Adventure is a Continuous Spell that prevents the first destruction in battle of a monster equipped with an Equip Spell, lets you add a monster from Deck to hand that mentions Adventurer Token and then makes you discard a card, and if a monster is Normal/Special Summoned you get to take an Equip Spell that mentions Adventurer Token from Deck and either add it to your hand or equip it to an Adventurer Token you control. Dunnell, the Noble Arms of Light is an Equip Spell that equips to any monster you control and you can only control 1 of, gives your equipped monster 500 ATK for each monster you control with a different name that mentions Adventurer Token, and if sent to the graveyard can then target an Adventurer Token you control and equip it to said monster. Starlit Papillon is an Equip Spell that equips to any monster you control and you can only control 1 of, makes monsters your opponent controls lose 500 ATK for each monster with a different name you control that mentions Adventurer Token, and upon being sent to the grave can equip itself to an Adventurer Token. Dracoback, the Rideable Dragon is an Equip Spell that equips to any monster you control and you can only control 1 of, can target a card the opponent controls and return it to the hand if equipped to a non-Effect Monster, and upon being sent to the graveyard can equip itself to an Adventurer Token you control. Zaralaam the Dark Palace is a Field Spell that prevents the opponent from using cards or effects during the Battle Phase if you control a mosnter equipped with Dunnell, the Noble Arms of Light, burns the opponent for the original ATK of a monster an Adventurer Token destroys in battle, and during the Main Phase of the turn you used the previous effect can let you add a different Field Spell from Deck to hand that mentions Adventurer Token. Forest of Lost Flowers is a Field Spell that makes monsters equipped with Starlit Papillon unaffected by the opponent’s card effects, lets you draw a card when an Adventurer Token destroys an opponent’s monster in battle, and also lets you add a different Field Spell that mentions Adventurer Token from Deck to hand the turn the previous effect was used. Thunder Discharge is a Normal Trap where if you control an Adventurer Token, you can target a monster you control equipped with an Equip Card to destroy all monsters the opponent controls with ATK less than or equal to the targeted monster’s, then you can equip an Equip Spell that mentions Adventurer Token from your hand or graveyard to a monster you control. Finally, Breath of Resurrection is a Normal Trap where if you control an Adventurer Token, you can Special Summon 2 monsters from your hand and/or graveyard with different names, but they’re banished when they leave the field, also you can equip an Equip Spell that mentions Adventurer Token from your hand or graveyard to a monster you control.

2020 Create a Card Winner

After a 4 round tournament over a couple of months and over a year of waiting, we finally get the new Inzektor Spell that was voted on by the Yu-Gi-Oh community to be created in a future set, so here we are. Zektrike Kou-ou is a Normal Spell that is always treated as an Inzektor card and upon activation will send an Inzektor card from your hand or face-up field to the graveyard to either take an Inzektor monster from Deck and either Special Summon it or equip it to an Inzektor monster you control or you can instead take an Inzektor Equip Spell and equip it to an Inzektor monster you control. We also got a few Inzektor reprints. Inzektor Dragonfly and Inzektor Picofalena are both in here upgraded to Super Rare after all the time they only existed in low rarity. We also got several key Inzektor cards reprinted as we see Inzektor Hornet, Inzektor Centipede, Inzektor Hopper, Inzektor Ladybug, Inzektor Exa-Beetle, Inzektor Exa-Stag, and Inzektor Sword – Zektkaliber all in here alongside some generic Insect stuff like Gokipole and Insect Imitation.

Noteworthy Reprints

Now we get to all the reprinted cards not related to the Inzektor cards and help support the new archetypes in this set, or are just good generic cards. Risebell the Star Adjuster, Psychic Wheeleder, Psychic Tracker, Virtual World Hime – Nyannyan, and Emergency Teleport are all in here to boost the P.U.N.K. archetype. Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer, Ties of the Brethren, and Xyz Universe are all in here to help out Exosisters, with Xyz Universe getting a rarity upgrade to Super Rare. The only cards in here to really help Adventurer Token are Hidden Armory and Armory Call for the Equip Spells. Finally we get the two generic reprints for Torrential Tribute and Solemn Strike. Overall a decent lineup of reprints, nothing major but at least we get rarity upgrades for some of these old cards in the reprints.

In Conclusion

Overall, this is a much better set vs the previous two Deck Build Packs that took the Collector’s Rare formula, and might be the best Deck Build Pack since Dark Saviors with Sky Striker. Some of the worst cards in the set might be related to the Adventurer Tokens, but the best cards are as well and those best cards are gonna be splashed into many different Decks to give them a boost, just as long as they don’t need to Normal Summon monsters to use their effects on field. P.U.N.K. is a nice little archetype, and some of their cards might make for a nice Synchro engine or a good Level 3 package to use in Level 3 related strategies. Exosisters are the most standalone archetype in the set, and they’re overall somewhat decent, but could use a card similar to Artifact Durendal that makes the opponent move cards in grave to operate better. The reprints have some solid cards in here. Reprints for Emergency Teleport, Torrential Tribute, and Solemn Strike are always useful and we got rarity upgrades in these reprints instead of wasting foil slots on some of the cards the archetypes in the set won’t even use. We finally get some Inzektor reprints and the new card we voted on is pretty good for the archetype to make plays, it just doesn’t solve the archetype’s issues on its own. It’s a good Deck Build Pack, and hopefully we continue this trend when Tactical Masters releases.
