UPPER DECK ENTERTAINMENT TO RELEASE

THE ‘ULTIMATE’ SUPERHERO TRADING CARD GAME

MADE ESPECIALLY FOR KIDS

New ‘Marvel Ultimate Battles’ Trading Card Game

Will Be Available in Participating Mass Retail Stores in April 2008

CARLSBAD, Ca. (October 10, 2007) – Teaming up once again with global comic industry giant, Marvel Entertainment, Upper Deck Entertainment (UDE) announces today plans to release a brand new multi-player superhero trading card game (TCG) made especially for kids.  The new game, Marvel Ultimate Battles, will be available at participating mass and hobby retail outlets across North America in April 2008.

“Our Marvel TCG has been a huge success amongst our core TCG players, which consists of players ages 16 and up,” said Hyrum Savage, Product Manager for Marvel Ultimate Battles.  “We wanted to extend this fun experience to our younger audience with a new Marvel superhero TCG made especially for them.”

The new quick and easy-to-learn TCG will feature characters from the biggest and most popular Marvel comics and films, such as The Hulk, Iron Man (Paramount Pictures’ Iron Man will be released in May 2008), Captain America and Spider-Man. in a multi-player game that allows kids to take on the roles of their favorite superheroes.  Utilizing a fast, action-packed game engine designed by UDE, players will create their roster of favorite Marvel characters and duke it out until one is left standing.

Marvel Ultimate Battles offers starter sets and booster packs for purchase.  Two starter sets will be available, each themed either around The Hulk or Iron Man, and will include 48 cards, including an Ultimate Rare card, a fold-out playmat and rulebook; each starter set comes complete with all components needed to get a game started.  Booster packs will consist of nine cards per pack, complete with common, rare and Ultimate Rare cards.  There will be 165 cards total in the set.
