Pojo's VS System Card of the Day

  Captain America
Super Soldier

Card #MAV-004

------

Date Reviewed: 09.02.05

Constructed Modern Age Average Rating: 5
Constructed Golden Age Average Rating: 5
Limited Average Rating: 5

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale
1 being the worst. 3 ... average.
5 is the highest rating.

Nakaiya21
Captain America - Super Soldier

This character is an excellent character imo. He just seems to have so many things going for him:
-He is a leader (Avengers Assemble anyone?)
-He has average stats for a 6-drop (12/12)
-He has range
-He allows avengers attackers adjacent to him a Bamf! Ability
-He gives adjacent defenders a +2/+2

What more could you want? Just slap this character down on the field, slap a big target on him and see the look on your opponent's face. Oh yeah, they will definitely be gunning for this character, but who can really blame them. I definitely won't say this character is for every deck, but he is made for just about any version of Avengers deck I have seen.

Ratings:
MMA - 4.5/5.0 - This character is a great asset for any Avengers deck.
GA - 4.5/5.0 - He isn't the best 6-drop in the game, but he does come pretty close to it.

Limited - 3.5/5.0 - This card is still a great character in this format, it is just doubtful that there will be a lot of Avengers support here.

Have shield, will travel.

Captain America, Super Soldier
Number: MAV-004
Rarity: Rare
Card Type: Character
Cost: 6
Team: Avengers
Attack: 12
Defense: 12
Range: Yes
Flight: No
Leader: Avengers attackers adjacent to
Captain America cannot be stunned.

Avengers defenders adjacent to
Captain America get +2 ATK /
+2 DEF.

Cost: 6
Adverage stats, but the effect is worth the cost.

ATK/DEF: 12/12
Adverage.

Range/Flight: Range
Able to attack from anywhere, but not able to pounce on protected support row characters.

Effect:
Cool! His close friends can't be counter-clobbered when attacking, and get a +2/+2 boost when they get attacked.
"What a pal, what a pal!"

Team Affiliation: Avengers
The team encourages pairing up or grouping (all postioned next to each other, horizontally and/or
vertically) and this Capt. gives a big bonus for doing so.

Overall:
A very nice well-rounded character, and well worth placing into your Avengers decks. Another must-have card. The only drawback is that he'll be the opponent's first target, so protect him well.
5.0/5.0

Modern Age:
A must have here, and well desrving of the honor.
5.0/5.0

Golden Age:
Not usable here, but...
5.0/5.0

Limited:
Avengers aren't too hard to get, so grab him first, then work on getting your other Avengers.
5.0/5.0

Sith Dragon Captain America
Avengers 6 drop
range
12/12

LEADER Avengers attackers adjacent to Captain America cannot be stunned.

Avengers defenders adjacent to Captain America get
+2/+2

This is perhaps one of the best all-purpose 6 drops in the game. Most of the time you look at which drops are best defensive and which are best offensive and choose your initiative accordingly. 'Ol capi-tan can be used either way. He is a solid 6 drop at 12/12 and can also boost your guys on the defense by +2/+2.
Usually, on the defensive, this will move his little range symbol right between his eyes as the first to go down, so protect him as best possible (in modern its much easier than in golden) and your characters basically just jumped a notch up the curve scale.

He is a very simple card, and as I said he helps make the Avengers the best Modern team out there right now....Well, at least til justice league (I hope).

BATTLE ON!

"Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?"
